https://www.theguardian.com/media/2025/aug/11/harry-meghan-netflix-sign-film-tv-deal

According to the Guardian the Netflix deal was 100 million

"reportedly worth". They're just repeating the same rumours.

Also, what does 'worth' mean? If that's a production budget then the Sussexes would have had to pay their costs out of that. It would also be tied to them coming up with decent content, which they mostly failed to do. So it's a meaningless figure really.

The Guardian article says the Netflix figure was "reportedly" $100 million, i.e. they have no actual info but are just repeating the figure that keeps being repeated.

The $100 million was also for a five-year period and they certainly didn't make enough content for five years. As such, they certainly didn't receive $100 million from Netflix.

"Harry and Meghan, who struck a five-year deal in 2020 reportedly worth $100m (£78m) after stepping back from their duties as senior royals, have collaborated with Netflix on a number of projects, most recently the duchess’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan."

They struck another deal as they hadn't completed their commitments.
Reportedly 100 million , it could possibly have been more that maybe that is the conservative estimate.. whatever the actual amount it's a big chunk of change for selling stories about the royal family

Apparently they got the 100 million upfront but the deal had to be extended after they didn't follow through on their commitments

Apparently they got the 100 million upfront

Sorry, but this is complete nonsense.

NF sent 100 million to their bank account without them producing a minute of content for them? You don't seriously believe this, do you?

Reportedly as I said it could be much more, maybe what is being reported is conservative estimates & the actual amount is much more!

How many more millions were made from selling stories that the public doesn't know about?

BunnyBunbunbun · 10/10/2026 22:10

Kingsandqueenz · 10/10/2026 21:58

Where does it say they got the money upfront? It just says they signed a deal. It doesn't say they got the money in one go, which would be extremely strange and Netflix would have gone bankrupt years ago if they made deals like that.

wordler · 10/10/2026 22:12

None of these figures have ever been confirmed.

I would take that Mail article with a huge pinch if not handful of salt - it has numerous inaccuracies in the pre Meghan information written as though they were fact so the post Meghan info cannot be relied on.

Also if and it’s a big if the $100m figure was correct - it wasn’t $100m income for them.

It was the money to actually make the programming too. So crew wages, editors, script writers etc

They did produce content initially & if you read the Express article linked it says the Netflix deal had to be extended as they "pocketed" the money & hadn't fulfilled their commitments

Right. Maybe Netflix gave them $200 million, or perhaps $300 million, just like that, without them producing a single thing and with only a couple of ideas in the pipeline.

If it was around 1980 then she very possibly did - he and Steve Wozniak were in London selling Apple shares for the first time. I was at the meeting - at some posh hotel - and Jobs was quite dull. Wozniak was utterly mad, hugely enthusiastic and brilliant! And yes, we did buy them and made a lot of money. <preens>

It was probably 2000. But I love your story!!
Very cool!

I'd say the Daily Mail were wily & quite accurate especially considering all the legal battles with H&M which the DM won..

Come on! Don't be daft!

Let me put it this way. Margot Robbie supposedly made $50 million from "Barbie." That's as both the star and producer of the biggest box office hit of the year.

And you're saying the Sussexes made twice that and maybe 'much more' from a rubbish 'documentary' which subscribers could watch for free?

I'm honestly wondering if this isn't some sort of wind up, because you can't seriously believe the above.

Right.

So they took money off NF, having failed to produce anything anyone wanted to watch other than that 'documentary' whining about how tough it is to be royal.

And NF rewarded them for that failure by extending the deal and giving them even more money?

Because that makes perfect sense. Doesn't it?

Quite. Also, if they have earned that kind of money, why are they back over here trying to get free security?

According to this their second deal is worth 75 million.

I think after they left the royal family loads of publications were dying to get Harry & Meghan to sell the dirty laundry of the royal family & Netflix were the highest bidders.

How much do you think they made from story selling?

Meghan in her Netflix series With Love Meghan

Harry and Meghan sign new multi-year Netflix deal

It's a looser arrangement than their previous deal - and comes ahead of a second series of Meghan's cookery show being screened later this month.

I'd say the Daily Mail were wily & quite accurate especially considering all the legal battles with H&M which the DM won..

Sorry I meant the Express article you linked above - it was full of made up stuff.

So I’d estimate it cost something like $25M-$30M to produce the Netflix series about themselves.

Meghan’s cooking show possibly a similar amount.

Then the Polo documentary.

You can see that once agents fees and the cost of making the content is taken out they won’t have ended up with much for themselves - maybe $10-20M

Overreacting on their lifestyle, visa problems, trying desperately to get in with King Charles before William becomes king & hopefully removes their titles?

Rather than frantic googling, why don't you read your own sources and engage with the points people are making?

Because a quick glance showed that that is not what it says.

It says

It's not known how many years the deal is set to last or what financial arrangement is attached. The previous deal, launched in 2020, was believed to be worth about $100m (£75m).

So it's referring to the original deal, not the 'first look' deal which will be much less lucrative. And there are the usual caveats about how 'it is believed' and the word 'worth' which is rather vague.

Are you going to actually respond to people's points or just google for more unsubstantiated rumours?

You misread it - it doesn’t say they got a second deal for £75M

It says that was what was reported about the first deal.

The second deal was simply a ‘first refusal’ partnership where Netflix agreed to take a look at anything the Sussexes were pitching first and let them know if they wanted it or not.

That's Netflix, there's also Spotify, Spare, Archewell, countless magazine interviews & tv interviews with undisclosed fees..

I hope at some stage some publication will do a breakdown to give a figure of how much the grift & murky story selling has actually pocketed them

Lifestyle over reach & living beyond your means would explain it. That sounds like a hell of a lot of money to me but if they are currently paying massive security, have a convey of 3 cars taking kids to school, flying private jets that's not sustainable unless you have a massive amount constantly coming in..

occhiali · 10/10/2026 22:34

I’ve no doubt they are worth a few bob and folk have (probably regretfully) crossed their palms with silver and got rock all in return.

That said, even if they’d have been paid 300 million, I think they may well have still tried for security.

One because it bolsters their self importance and two, because they are of the opinion that they’re entitled to it because they are important.

BigAnne · 10/10/2026 22:35

I find it interesting that MM has never slated her own family in the way H has done to his.
