See, I don’t think Harry is necessarily bad looking, but I wouldn’t say he’s particularly good looking either. I’ve never really found him attractive because he has quite a ruddy complexion, very small, deep set, close set eyes, and has always looked a bit scruffy. I also think he has an awkward hair texture that, when kept short, always seemed to look quite frizzy and frazzled, making his hair look perpetually untidy. Now add the balding into the mix (which I wouldn’t necessarily criticise him for in itself, but seeing as he’s opened that can of worms with William, all’s fair!) His slightly scruffy appearance worked when he was in his twenties and thirties, but as he’s got older, it’s become less endearing and more like he’s depressed and can’t look after himself.
William, on the other hand, has always been quite handsome. He has a classically handsome face. His main problem was that his hair loss made him look much older than he actually was and detracted from his overall appearance when we were used to seeing him with thick blonde hair as a youth. In fact, I think he looks better now than he did ten years ago, when he was still trying to fight a losing battle with his hair. Once he embraced the baldness, got rid of what little hair he had left, and balanced it out with some facial hair, he started looking good again. I still sometimes find myself thinking, “Wow, William is actually still quite handsome,” when he’s wearing a hat.
I also think a lot of it comes down to presentation. William is generally comes across as cheerful and approachable, and is always well dressed and smiling. You might not particularly like his style, but he’s consistently neat and presentable. Harry, by contrast, often looks sullen and miserable, rarely seems to smile, and always seems to be moaning about something. Add his scruffy appearance to that, and I think it all contributes to how the two of them are perceived.
Attractiveness isn’t just about your facial features. Your demeanour, grooming, and the way you present yourself all make a difference, too. You can have objectively good features, but if you constantly look miserable, unkempt, and like you haven’t made an effort, it’s inevitably going to affect how attractive people find you.
