Just posting as Chelsy was in the Royal Family folds for many years.
What a beautiful family & life she has. Very happy for her. Her life looks so idyllic, what a handsome husband too!

Prince Harry's ex Chelsy Davy avoided marriage before meeting husband

In a candid post, the Zimbabwe-born socialite, who dated Harry on and off for seven years from 2004, says she was more committed to having fun than being a mother or in a meaningful relationship.

Yes but when choosing a partner personally I would feel it important to place family relationships & family values high on the agenda to break the cycle & possibility of further dysfunction.
I get what you are saying William wanted in laws he could be close to, a close knit ,supportive family & the Middletons have been amazing to him & their grandchildren.

However Harry did mention in Spare how much he enjoyed the Davy's company when he used visit them at home in Zimbabwe.

It is genuinely very sad that he or his children have no relationship with Meghan's side except Doria. It is also very sad Archie & Lily won't get to have playdates & sleepovers with Charlotte, George & Louis.

Well, that's life. A life they've chosen. Harry is a middle aged man, let him get on with it. Except I don't want to fund his every day security, he can do that.
Otherwise, let him crack on.

I agree I don't want to fund his security either, the entitlement from this pair are disgraceful..
But you are right it is a life they have chosen.

I feel Harry's would have been easier & happier had he married a middle class girl from a strong, tight knit family who could help ease him through family moments diplomatically instead of going nuclear, boarding a freedom flight, saying he'll never live in the the UK again.... yet he's back, living here & wants the UK taxpayer to pay for the pleasure of having him & his family here.

I am on the PR threads. I can post where I like, if you don't like my post jog on , you don't need to respond!
It sounds like you are trying to control a narrative?
Threads do deviate from the main topic , it's a discussion board.

I'll post here if I want! You are just wanting to start a thread with hate about H&M whilst pretending it's about Chelsy Davy. Just like the Kate & Middletons thread you started.
Just be honest.

Well, but that’s your subjective opinion. Other people will react to childhood dysfunction differently. One of my siblings married into a very close-knit family, clearly enjoys their unproblematic relationships with one another, and is happy to live close by and essentially be absorbed into their family system, rather than ours. I would find that suffocating.

I’m quite fond of DH’s family but not close to them, and as we lived for decades in a different country to all of both families, I don’t think that the absence of play dates and sleepovers with cousins is a tragedy, just a normal consequence of distance.

ginasevern · 08/10/2026 13:11

She definitely dodged a bullet by not marrying into that dysfunctional, in-bred and gilded zoo of a family.

But it's a whole new level of dysfunction that Harry has married into & created. This dysfunction will now include Archie & Lily who will grow up believing it normal not to talk to your fathers brother & his wife or have a relationship with your first cousins.

Dysfunction cycles can be broken but perhaps due to their own backgrounds being no contact & estranged from family is normal to them, who knows but it is very sad for their children.

Gosh, what little I know about MM's family suggests nowhere near the level of dysfunction of the Windsors! I mean, her parents split when she was very young, but she lived with either her father or her mother throughout her childhood, and seems to have had an ordinary enough upbringing before going on to a well-regarded university.

Whereas Harry grew up with continual media scrutiny, his parents (both themselves with pretty dysfunctional upbringings) had a famously unhappy marriage, separated and divorced incredibly publicly when he was old enough to be aware of the publicity, including accusations of affairs, pregnancies etc with his nanny, was used as a cat's paw in his mother's love-hate relationship with the press as she fought popularity wars with Charles and the RF in general, lost his mother when he was still a child, and then will have spent years after her death unavoidably hearing lurid stories about her affairs, bulimia, suicide attempts, while in the not-so-tender routine of a boarding school etc etc.

I mean, you'd have to go a long way to cap that.

Why don't you post on the PR threads? Up to about 48,000 posts and you would be welcomed with open arms over there!

Well done for admitting this is a thread about Harry & Meghan and using an ex of Harry's from 16 years ago is just an excuse to start a thread to go on and on and on about them.

they do, check the thread and you will see the exact same post on there.

I think you'll find cutting off her father who paid for her very expensive Catholic girls school education & also her first wedding suggests some dysfunction.

Not having any of your family from either side of your family inc your half brother & sister as well as your father, aunts & uncles suggests serious dysfunction!
What was so wrong with every single one of Doria & Thomas's sides that they weren't invited?

Yes Harry's is exactly as described so it's very sad he doesn't want a more functional dynamic for his own children.

It sounded like he was very happy & comfortable with the Davy family & a set up like that would have been very good for him & also to see how a loving ,supportive functional family operates like the Middletons.
It's insane to think he has never met his father in law!

I don’t think so. You’ll note the lack of those posters on this thread and on it’s cousin “Kate and the Middletons.”

You might have also noticed that name in the title. “Kate” not Catherine.

Something is strange, I know not what. But I think this thread is just as awful as the last. Using one woman in an attempt to make another look badly? Comparing women? It’s pure misogyny.

TheOvertGardener · 08/10/2026 15:34

I really hate the using of one’s dysfunctional family members as a stick. It’s cruel and unfair.

Yes and we are not responsible for their behavior. It’s often very much painful enough without being beaten up and judged by outsiders.

Kingsandqueenz · 08/10/2026 15:44

It's not stick though. It is the truth. Why was her mother the only family member of hers at the wedding? That in itself is extremely odd given the huge scale of the wedding, celebrities you have never met being given precedence over your own flesh & blood.

What message is that sending your kids?

Yes, and it absolutely silences people who could really benefit from opening up to get support, validation, etc. It still feels shameful. Hopefully the coming generations will see it differently.

I'm fond of my parents and see them regularly, despite them having objectively been fairly dreadful parents (they both grew up in deprived, dysfunctional settings), and I still didn't invite them to my wedding! Or any of my siblings.

I mean, you seem to assuming family should come first for everyone, but often it doesn't. I mean, it would be ideal if we all grew up in unproblematically loving, straightforward families, but we get what we get, and we decide how to deal with that in adulthood.

Also, aren't MM's half-siblings much older than her, so they can't have grown up in the same household? That's got to make a difference, surely.

Yeah, how is that helpful? We all just do our best. We have no idea what someone else goes through in life.

My family is complex and flawed. I know how most of them got that way. I don’t want to be judged for how I handle these relationships.

Well it is very easy to judge when Meghan said she cut her father out of her life as he sold stories about her to the tabloids but didn't herself & Harry do the exact same thing when they sold stories about the royal family?
Hypocrisy must always be called out & never forgotten. It is very difficult for Meghan to rehabilitate her image & try to brand herself as a wholesome homemaking "mom" when the reality with her family is the exact opposite.

Harry spoke glowingly in Spare about how he loved spending time with the Davy family at their home in Zimbabwe & it's a shame he has no relationship with Meghan's dad or her extended family & even sadder for Archie & Lili.
