Just posting as Chelsy was in the Royal Family folds for many years.
What a beautiful family & life she has. Very happy for her. Her life looks so idyllic, what a handsome husband too!

Prince Harry's ex Chelsy Davy avoided marriage before meeting husband

In a candid post, the Zimbabwe-born socialite, who dated Harry on and off for seven years from 2004, says she was more committed to having fun than being a mother or in a meaningful relationship.

You admire random socialite from rich white Zimbabwean landowners family, who's mostly known for briefly dating PH?

Wow, I mean, I admire Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie and Malala.

I feel that the royal family threads may not be the place for you @FiddlyLeafFig 🤣

They would have get permission. Queen Elizabeth would never denied Harry, no matter how she personally felt about whoever girls he asked her permission for. Just like what Queen Elizabeth said to Harry when he asked for her permission to married Meghan, "Well, then, I suppose I have to say yes."

Of course they would have got permission! Sure look at the Markles, Meghan was too embarrassed of both Doria & Thomas Markles sides she invited none to the wedding only Doria, what the hell was she trying to cover up!!
I bet the Queen regretted giving that permission considering how that pair of trouble markers ruined herself & Prince Philips final years with their constantly selling stories & causing chaos

I do! She has a fabulous life, travelled loads, holds a law degree, is a successful entrepreneur & is extremely family orientated.
She would have been good for Harry, a family orientated woman coming from a strong functional loving family would have been very good for him.
Instead he married a woman estranged from all her family & suddenly he becomes estranged from his family.. and the cycle of dysfunction continues. It's so so sad for A&L estranged from family & their first cousins due to their parents behaviour

Edited

That's ridiculous, frankly, and comes from the same school of thought as all those threads on Mn where someone's SIL is blamed for a family estrangement because it's easier to blame the non-blood relative or go with the 'he was led astray by a conniving woman' than acknowledge that your brother just isn't that bothered about staying in touch.

Only it's obviously madder when the poor led-astray man is not your brother, but a random royal you've never met, who himself comes from a family that is spectacularly dysfunctional by anyone's standards!

And no, I don't think Prince Harry marrying someone from the frankly murky world of white landowning Zimbabweans, whose father had one of Mugabe's longtime righthand men as a 50% business partner in his safari business, not to mention being linked with the illegal export of rhino horn and alleged to have held onto his land by funding Zanu PFF, would have provided Harry with a 'strong, functional, loving family' or been good optics for the RF.

I mean, the last queen stripped Mugabe of the knighthood she'd given him because of human rights abuses under his regime and rigged elections, and he took Zimbabwe out of the Commonwealth as relations deteriorated.

Things would only have been even messier if Harry were married to someone whose family wealth was based on funding a regime notorious for human rights abuses, and whose father had strong links to a dictator and his party at a time when Zimbabwean relations with the UK were incredibly hostile. Do you not remember all the publicity around Peter Tatchell trying to do a citizen's arrest on Mugabe, because his regime persecuted gay people? (In fairness, like a not insignificant number of other Commonwealth countries.)

I do too.

The love affair with Kate and now Chelsy must be quite exhausting for her! Especially as she has to get in as much horrible stuff about Meghan and Harry as possible whilst adoring these women

So weird to be talking about an ex girlfriend of Harry's from 16 years ago! I wonder who will be next for her fawning and love?

No if you read my posts you would find that I think the Royal Family is deeply dysfunctional & that William & Harry had a traumatic childhood on top of the obvious dysfunction.
William has always credited the Middletons for providing a very welcoming & secure environment. Harry also spoke very warmly of the close knit Davy family in Spare & how he enjoyed their company.
Harry married a woman from a deeply dysfunctional family who is estranged from all but her mother & now he is estranged from his family & so are his kids.
It is classic nature vs nature & I find it extremely interesting how family dynamics can shape your present & your future.

The Daily Mail featured the article & there is lots of similar articles around so why don't you ask the DM why they are writing about Harry's ex from 20 years ago..
Horrible stuff about Meghan? It's the truth & it will never be forgotten! Selling stories about your in laws for millions & being estranged from both sides of your family is not a good look!

It's 16 years ago actually and the DM comes out with literally anything to do with H&M because it is clickbait. So why on earth would I want to be asking them about this article when I know why they printed it.
Doesn't mean to say someone (you) should follow it up and put it on the Royal board of MN. When your thread is designed to carry on your hate of H&M.

I thought it was a lovely story, Chelsy is doing great, looking beautiful & this is the Royal Family forum, she could have been royal had things turned out differently.
I also thing it is interesting to imagine how Harry's life might have turned out differently had he married Chelsy, this is a discussion board after all & I feel it makes an interesting discussion!

But surely there's enough material in Harry's own upbringing and immediate and extended family to more than explain his less-than-straightforward relationship with his own family -- we don't need to look elsewhere for a 'reason'!

Kingsandqueenz · 08/10/2026 10:43

Harry had a deeply challenging childhood as did William . However marrying Catherine who came from a loving, supportive family has healed him & in having Catherine who has a very close relationship with her family his children are reaping the rewards of their grandparents & cousins. Family is everything.

And it's very noticeable you haven't made one comment on Hapsburg's detailed post about Chelsy's family.
What do you think about her family?

Well she looks so beautiful & happy now, her gorgeous husband & successful business living the dream in Mauritius!

So why are you wishing a marriage to Harry on her? He may have been ' better off' in your opinion but you are wishing an intelligent woman who was treated like shit by a member of the Royal family and was hounded by the press had married into the dysfunctional Royals!

It's not up to the women. Harry is a very rich man, he could get the best therapy and no waiting list. He can choose to move forward. William has spoken of engaging with counselling and what a difference it's made to his mental health.
Harry could easily do the same.

You are correct but it is to ensure the dysfunction & normalising dysfunctional family relationships does not carry on to the next generation. William had a dysfunctional family but Catherine didn't & their children have a lovely wholesome childhood ensconced & loved by their grandparents & wider family .
Harry on the other hand has never met his father in law & his kids have never met their grandad...

It's not hatred it's truth . This is a royal family discussion board & it is perfectly reasonable to discuss Meghan & Harry's actions in the past. It is impossible for the to rehabilitate their public image after they have done so much damage.

Well done for admitting this is a thread about Harry & Meghan and using an ex of Harry's from 16 years ago is just an excuse to start a thread to go on and on and on about them.

Kingsandqueenz · 08/10/2026 11:21

Or two brothers have just responded differently to a childhood of shared dysfunction?

My siblings and I also had a substantially dysfunctional upbringing, and we’ve all responded in different ways — some of us maintain far closer relations with our parents than others, and some of us didn’t invite them to our weddings, for instance.

Kingsandqueenz · 08/10/2026 11:35

Yes but when choosing a partner personally I would feel it important to place family relationships & family values high on the agenda to break the cycle & possibility of further dysfunction.
I get what you are saying William wanted in laws he could be close to, a close knit ,supportive family & the Middletons have been amazing to him & their grandchildren.

However Harry did mention in Spare how much he enjoyed the Davy's company when he used visit them at home in Zimbabwe.

It is genuinely very sad that he or his children have no relationship with Meghan's side except Doria. It is also very sad Archie & Lily won't get to have playdates & sleepovers with Charlotte, George & Louis.
