My GOODNESS but her DH is a handsome man! Wowser! Yes, yes I know that looks aren't everything. But they certainly are something!

H must look at pictures of him and then at himself in the mirror and weep lol. It must take M at least a couple of hours to soothe his bruised ego.

If only Hazbeen wasn't so gullible and easily led, he could have married a woman like Chelsey; beautiful and smart, instead of that avaricious narcissist, how much better his life would be.#

AcrossthePond55 · 07/10/2026 15:21

You know, I think that what M wanted (once she realized that 'Suits' was the best she could do) was to position herself as the 21st Century Martha Stewart, 'heir to her crown' as it were. It all started with the Tig, didn't it? Problem with that is that Martha (for all her faults) has a real talent for home-keeping, interior design, and entertaining AND she understood marketing and publicity. She also employed the right people and was not afraid to give credit where credit was due. Yes, I think she (like Meghan) showed herself doing more by herself than she actually did, but at least she knew when to stop. M makes it sound like she produces her spreads all on her own in her very own kitchen.

I think M realized she was going nowhere as the next MS and decided that a wealthy marriage was her business plan. Thus, marriage to H and 'With love...' show and 'As nEver'. And guess what, she's still not her generation's answer to Martha.

PS I'm not a 'Stewart Squad' member by any means. But Martha's website and her 'Home-keeping' book have saved my bacon in both cleaning emergencies and kitchen disasters many times. And some of the MS cheap-o kitchen implements I bought 20 years ago at Kmart are still going strong. So credit where credit is due.

Could he though? Beautiful, smart women tend to want beautiful, smart men. Harry is neither.

MM's problem has always been that deep down she's as shallow as a puddle; all style and no substance, it doesn't take long for people to realise that.

He would still be at the heart of the royal family & if Chelsy had wanted to move home to Africa he could have done work there on behalf of the crown. He loves Africa.
What could have been. Well done Chelsy, really enjoyed that article today.
Yet she never felt the need to make money off Harry or his family either. Like Catherine she was raised better than that!

Chelsy is proving that point. Her husband is gorgeous & very successful! Love that they live in Mauritius.
Chelsy is the epitome of living the dream!

It seems that H picked well then.

To me they seem perfectly matched.

Shallow, bitter, vengeful, no self awareness, no intelligence, no emotional intelligence.

Aprilfountain · 07/10/2026 15:40

Well yes, that's a good point but he was considered a catch by upper class girls years ago due to his status, of course that was long before he'd shown his true character.

Frenchjamisbest · 07/10/2026 15:42

Starryfifty · 07/10/2026 14:39

How can Harry be happy with his situation? No relationship with his wife's family. Has never met them. Only her mother. No relationship with his brother, sister in law, nephews and niece. No genuine relationship with his father, stepmother. Does he have friends in UK? How can he want this estrangement for his own children?

I think his situation is just beginning to dawn on him but it's far too late.

Was he ever considered a catch?

Maybe these posh gels thought it might be fun to be the girlfriend of a prince for a while, and also it's a good career move if you're aspiring to any sort of public facing career. This is what Chelsy and Cressida did, and good for them. But I'm not sure he was ever considered prime marriage material, especially with all the baggage attached to marrying into the royal family. Rich posh women don't need to marry a royal and become 'public property to enjoy all the benefits of upper class life. They already have that.

I'm sure his character was well known to those around him it was just well hidden from the public. He sounded even worse in his youth - a racist, boorish, dim oaf

The cold way she cut out Thomas Markle after she said he sold photos of himself getting fitted for a suit.

She'd cut him out long before that incident, once she became a bit successful seems to be when the cutting out started, ie she no longer needed him. He was never introduced to Harry, was the plan ever that he would come to her wedding? Did he go to her other wedding(s)? I believe that when someone marries into the RF they can ask that their family is kept in the loop about the wedding etc and has good support from BP. Did she ask for this for her parents?

I think that she was offered help - but Meghan refused it.

We will never know the full truth but I read that the Queen was concerned as family was very important to her, and HAM were offered the services of an equerry who would fly to the US and escort him and arrange clothing etc. But all refused.

Personally I don't think that Meghan ever intended to allow her father to attend her wedding:

Firstly, I don't think that Meghan ever intended to arrive at St George's chapel, Windsor as part of a couple. She wanted the full attention of the world's press on her as she got out of the car and ascended the steps. Remember her slapping away that equerry who attempted to help her (thereby blocking the shot). Also Prince Charles offered - but Meghan only (sort of grudgingly) agreed to meet him half way so that she was the centre of attention.

Secondly. I think Meghan didn't like her overweight, disabled blue-collar dad's image - she wanted an Instagram wedding and didn't want him in her pictures because this wedding was all about the Hollywood A-listers and not about family at all. Although Meghan might have been happy if George Clooney had offered to walk her down the aisle

Finally, Harry has never met Meghan's father - who knows what lies Meghan has told Harry and her friends about him? I don't think she wanted him there and risk contradicting her or other stories coming out. She trusted Doria to keep her mouth shut.

I mean writing Chelsy off as a "posh gel" who was desperate to hang around him seems a bit unfair. Chelsy was only 18 when they started dating and was a Law student at Leeds University.

AngelCakesHairstyle · 07/10/2026 16:15

Honestly think that Harry is in a constant state of panic that he will loose Meghan, and he would have been happy with a quieter life if that was her desire... basically think he would have gone along with whatever she wanted to keep her happy.

He can't believe he bagged her, see lots of his Mum in her, and when she stirred up drama about the press / security pre-Mexit, he saw himself in a knight in shining armour role / a way of puffing up his chest to secure her attentions.

Also think, after reading Spare, he grew up fighting for the attentions and respect of his Dad and brother. Bagging Meghan didn't alter this - much to his surprise - and then, like a little kid, executed extremely bad behavior (Oprah and Spare) to get their attention in an alternative way.

Like others have said many times, he has zero self reflection or awareness and has single-handedly done the most damage (yes including AMW) to the Royal family in years.

Its a fastinating character study, and I'm here for it! Love these threads.

Edited for forgetting the 'h' at the end of Oprah :-)

The closest Harry gets to a fox is the colour of his whiskers and hair (what's left of it, that is).

AngelCakesHairstyle · 07/10/2026 16:22

.... Back in their first Netflix thing, did anyone else clock the absolute panic move across Harry's face when he briefly said Meghan was late for their second date and M swooped in on him with a hawk-like death stare for daring to make this accusation? His reverse ferret was quite something to behold!

CoffeeCantata · 07/10/2026 16:23

@Lunde

She trusted Doria up to a point. According to Tom Bower:

The Middletons invited Doria to stay with them before the wedding but this was refused. There may have been protocol reasons for it though.

The Queen was really worried about M’s lack of family at the wedding and urged her to get on a plane and sort things out with her estranged father and others. The RF also offered for various people to sit with Doria in St G’s Chapel but Meghan refused this too, insisting that D sat alone.

Knowing what we now know about M, I suspect this was also calculated to make it seem cruel of the RF to “make” poor Doria sit alone, but that’s just speculation.

Before any of the trouble was publicly known, I remember feeling surprised at D’s demeanour on leaving the chapel. I could see Charles trying to engage her, but she didn’t look at him or respond much. I have a strong impression of this because, after both his lovely gestures of escorting M and then taking D so warmly by the hand, it did seem very cold of her. Now I suspect she had been instructed by M not to get drawn into conversations with the royals.

M is just so utterly controlling, it’s really obvious now.

And Florence Bruce Brunell also. These girls all had money in their own right, they could marry really handsome wealthy men & live in peace & privacy which they did. He wasn't a catch he was an available option who was already within their social circle

Yep he really loved it. I remember when he was going out with Chelsy how much was made of his love affair in Africa.
He also spent a number of months doing charity work in Lesotho.

My GOODNESS but her DH is a handsome man! Wowser! Yes, yes I know that looks aren't everything. But they certainly are something!

M's ex, chef Cory, is also a good looking man, and seems to be doing quite nicely. M certainly didn't trade up in the looks and business brains departments.

AngelCakesHairstyle · 07/10/2026 16:41

I also believe he loves it - because of who he could be when he was there during his youth. He probably felt accepted, was away from press intrusion, and seemed to be doing physical, rather than intellectual work. It was probably a very good fit for him.
