Hmmm - this is interesting as AMW has always despised the "Turnip Toffs" and it's one of the reasons he resisted being sent to the Sandringham estate.

I wonder if he's "really" being made "welcome" or if it more that KC is sending round some of his local mates to keep and eye on AMW.

IIRC QEII's retired Lord Chamberlain is one of the big Norfolk landowners.

Good point. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I don't know, because these things are not always publicised and when they are, it can be a very general threat. I doubt they need taxpayer funded security on a day to day basis. Unfortunately, they do choose to share a lot about their lives and their location, so they're creating a lot of issues themselves.

If they are granted tax payer funded protection will the HAMs have to live by set rules so they don’t compromise their own security ? So for example no arranged pap shots, no instagram post revealing their location? No carrying of Meghan’s bags? no fetching a Starbucks for Harry?

Aaah, no ~ my DB's wasn't like that. His had a flatter, more human face with nasty staring eyes!!!!

BigWillyLittleTodger · 05/10/2026 11:42

Also what about their jollies abroad will MET security travel round the globe with them? Will the Hamlets have a 24/7 protection officer each? So many questions…..

BemusedAmerican · 05/10/2026 11:43

Listening to the local news while getting dressed. All the US bombers were pulled out of Radford for safety reasons and are back in the US, so no need for HAM to worry. Does this mean the military families also go back to the US?

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cmwyve191dlko

The announcer also gave an Andrew update.

A Rockwell B1 Lancer heavy bomber takes off

US removes all bombers from RAF Fairford back to home stations

No reason has been given for the withdrawal, but it follows a major incident last week when police were alerted to "suspicious vehicles" near the airbase.

..and that was a massive society wedding!

How did they organise it all so quickly? OK they didn't have to book a venue, being at Althorp, but still - there was the designer dress, the page and bridesmaids outfits, busy diaries of invitees such as Diana and Charles.
Or do you mean engagement announced?

One would bloody well hope so, but it would be a nightmare trying to get them to obey.

On the subject of work, Rachel the Curious Pilot has had a look at Travelyst.
It's a private company and this year has moved from small profit into small loss situation. Beyond that she, and we remain mystified as to what it does and how it earns money as few details are made public. I think tax avoidance scheme is probably the best bet at the end of the day. And vehicle for the occasional speech and attendance at events with paid for private jet travel.

Well no because the bombers and their crews were not here on a permanent basis, so they were probably deployed without their families, but there is a permanent American presence at Fairford anyway, so they and their families will still be there

Has there ever been a genuine threat against HAM?

Only two examples come to mind, Starryfifty:

I agree. Of the two of them Meghan is the one who is out there trying different things to make money. Harry thinks his very existence is all that he needs to contribute.

Of course it's probably a made up article.

But they still have the expense of the Montecito house, in addition to whatever they're paying for their home in England. So returning isn't going to save them any money. Harry may have hoped to get his security bills paid by the taxpayer, but it doesn't seem like that's happening either. So unless they sell Montecito manor, I'm not sure how this move is saving them significant money.

I do agree with this . However I can see the way they are saving money could be 1) a skeleton security staff + maintenance type gardening , cleaning etc while they are not living there (Montecito) 2) If true that Wade is paying for the borrowed house , might have already skeleton staff for general security for the property ( don't know ) 3) And I don't know if this is true - wasn't there some talk of H getting a tax break if he moved back to the UK within 6 years.
Perhaps some of our US correspondents could comment more knowledgeably . Is it @AcrossthePond55 who lives in California?

I would guess their reasons for relocating are various. H wants his children to be properly part of the RF , that's their USP and what he knows and thinks he's entitled to. I suspect he himself wants to be WRF. I think M may have thought , in the absence of a better plan , let's try this. And I do think their Royalness may have worn off / expired somewhat in the US so back in Blighty with teas with KC etc might boost that a bit. Just a couple of musings . I have no inside knowledge.

Lunde · 05/10/2026 12:27

cheezncrackers · 05/10/2026 11:05

The sooner the Sussexes accept that they don't actually need high level security, the better for all concerned.

I agree, but Harry is never going to accept this. He had close personal security his whole life up until 2020. He believes he is being punished for leaving the RF and nothing and no-one is going to convince him otherwise.

I think he is struggling to accept his reduced status.

Did the UK really stump up 24/7 security for an active duty soldier for 10 years? Were they in the helicopters and armoured vehicles with him?

Although I did read back in the day that he had 6 bodyguards in Afghanistan and he spent 99% of his time in a secure bunker.

IcedPurple · 05/10/2026 12:34

Starryfifty · 05/10/2026 11:16

Why did H have armed security? Anne, Edward never did. They are also children of monarch. Why was H the exception?

Presumably RAVEC's threat assessments deemed it necessary. However, his security was always conditional on need rather than status, and could and has been removed as circumstances changed.

Anne and Edward didn't, but Andrew and his entire family did, perhaps due to his service in the Royal Navy?

Well, some of his words and behaviour do indicate paranoia, but I don't know for sure of course.

I read an article back in the day (NOT one of the ones he sued over) that Cressida had told friends that Harry was totally paranoid about non-existent paps. He would rant about being followed or say there were people in bushes when there was nobody there.

It is mirrored by the story HAM put out in the press that he "feared for his safety" after being chased by a "pack of photographers" leaving a Wellchild event in Kew Gardens in 2021. The claims were picked up by several newspapers when he used it as part of his RAVEC security case the following year.
soooooooo....... spot the paps!

Travalyst is a really odd one.

When they first started Harry did a lot of performative stuff - like travelling to Scotland by train - same event he made the "Just call me Harry" speech. Although the gesture was diluted when his team booked out the entire first class carriage because Harry didn't want to sit with actual passengers.

Travalyst seems to be mostly a talking shop where people fly in to seminars - talk about sustainability/eco tourism - and fly home. Harry doesn't really seem to lead by example as he mostly holidays in 5* luxury resorts (Portugal, Costa Rica, Mexico, Aspen etc) and travels by private jet,

I clearly remember Harry, in an interview after Archie's birth sharply replying to a question from a reporter "No, he's not being brought up like that" and stating Archie wouldn't have a title. I remember thinking "Good on them, going the Phillips way".
You could try searching YouTube for interviews around that time but I'm not going to do it for you.

I also remember that and his sharp tone when he said it .
Will see if I can find it .

Somebody already did a deep dive into Doria's company several years ago and came to the conclusion it was a shell company. This is the summary I did a few threads ago

Doria is also supposed to run an elder care company - which appears to be a shell company and exist only on paper/website. Someone did an exposé of it a few years ago and I copied the details

  • registered in 2019 - right before Megxit
  • the lawyer listed is Richard Genrow - a Beverley Hills entertainment lawyer who represents Meghan in entertainment deals - an odd choice for a social care company
  • the it's only "footprint" is a single page website that reads as if Meghan wrote it
  • no premises - the registered address is the entertainment lawyer
  • no evidence of staff - no staff bios of qualifications/experience
  • you have to pay to speak to them - $180 for a 50 minute video call - only method of contact via a box that you fill in on the webpage
  • single page website with generic pictures - not updated since 2020 https://www.lovingkindnessseniorcare.com/ - data harvesting?
  • no reviews on Trust Pilot/Yelp etc
  • I believe whatever registration it had is now expired.

I think it did , but owing to his egregious behaviour he is living on the Sandringham estate courtesy of KC and does have security which is part of the Sandringham estate security and a wee bit more if he wants to leave the estate.

Please someone tell me if I am wrong here.

I read that KC privately employs a retired RPO/s as his security. There was a single (unarmed?) person with him when he was attacked by the man with the iron bar IIRC.

Thanks, @Lunde. I do recall you posting about this.

There’s so much to keep up with! I’m not surprised HaM get away with so much - we’re saturated with misinformation and information, smoke and mirrors, all the time. I wonder who the mastermind is behind the curtain, because it certainly isn’t either of those two clowns.
