Was the blatant unfairness of PW being an inch taller than Harry covered in Spare (did William have the nicer bedroom because the bed was a tad longer?) or is that being held back for the sequel?

William obviously grew taller as he had more sausages for his breakfast . . . .

Yes, I remember that! Harry was most put out that William was taller! Such a strange thing to be annoyed about.

Both my brothers are over 6 foot and I'm 5 foot 8. Of all the things they've done to annoy me over the years, that's the one thing that never occurred to me to get miffed about.

WilliamsExtraSausage · 04/10/2026 09:30

Jealous of the extra inch? That sounds unhinged.

AuroraCake · 04/10/2026 09:30

William is exactly the same height as all his Spencer male relatives: grand dad, uncle, cousin (Louis). Harry lot an inch. In fairness Andrew and Edward are six foot. So Harry is like half way. Strange thing is that all the women were the same height too.

So behind. Life is getting in the way.

With regard to whether the children are here, whether there is a long term plan for separation etc I'm on the side of Occum's Razor.

There is no evidence so far that either Harry or Meghan plan long term. There is no evidence that they have the ability to run a long game like pretending the children are somewhere else. There is a lot of evidence that they react in the moment, and that they seem unable to predict how anyone is going to react to their actions.

I think they are here, bewildered that they are not garnering much positive press and repeating everything that has failed in the past because they don't have another plan and won't take advice. Hence pap walks, friends making over the top comments and faux security scares.

bluegreygreen · 04/10/2026 09:34

Kirschcherries · 04/10/2026 09:02

I disagree. The media probably know but are not going to publish because a) they don’t release children’s school information b) they know it plays into H’s quest for RAVAC security.

Yes, the journalists on Palace Confidential said (back before the school run fiasco) that they and many others knew which school the children were attending but would not be publishing the details, as UK publications have guidelines about children's privacy.

They also said that they knew where the Sussexes were living, but would not be publishing that as they had been asked not to do so.

This has stood despite all the online speculation, especially when Meghan released her Instagram photos.
Any suggestions about which school it is and where they are living have therefore come from YouTube commentators or internet sites like TwiX or Reddit.

The comment about the small likelihood of A&L having to ask permission for their marriages has got me wondering what the long term future holds for H&M. They will only become less and less relevant when the Wales children grow up and it's actually not that far away - George is 13 now. With the business deals disappearing and their seemingly strange decision to return to the UK, the royal links seems more and more important to them. But they have only one way to go in royal terms, and that's down. They don't even have the family links to support their relevancy.

Just as an aside - my only knowledge of "The Cotswold's" is from reading novels set there. Has anyone read Catherine Alliot books?😁

I live as far away as is possible, but it seems quite similar to me? Just without Royals, palaces and so on. I'd attach a map if I could.

Used to love Catherine Alliot many years ago.
Do you remember the bit in an early book (might be The Old Girl Network?) where the main character is going for a cervical screening and has been forced to use ancient tissue from the bottom of her handbag in lieu of missing toilet roll when having a wee in a public loo just prior.
The examining doctor subsequently finds a greenshield stamp stuck to her nethers.

There were rumours on social media that Harry wore lifts in his shoes when required to stand next to William 😂

No, and it must dawn on them that they'll be reliant on the one couple they've really pissed off - W&K.
Or maybe it doesn't.

They don't appear to do contingency planning at ALL. Not when they flounced off, nor when they reverse flounced. I don't think they sat down and said to themselves, well OK we'll go back to the UK and the family will welcome us with open arms, but what if they don't? what's the plan B or even C? and what's the plan for when a brother comes to the throne who is very upset with us about this and that - what's our plan for that?

They're like Mr Micawber - something will turn up to sort it out.

H was on the down ramp of royal importance from the minute W & C announced a pregnancy. After HAM married they tried to get off the down ramp hoping to go stratospheric as global superstars. Six years later they have returned tails between legs but barking a lot and full of bravado. But they have always been on that down ramp and still are.

As someone said in a wonderfully insightful previous post, the RF has moved on since HAM were last at Sandringham for Christmas. H’s grandparents are dead, the Parker Bowles kids and grandkids attend and HAM are strangers to all the royal kids.

I do wonder if the pub pap walk was HAM wanting to be seen together about the time the invitations for the December Carol concert, BP extended family lunch and Sandringham Christmas are sent out. Those probably get sent 8-12 weeks before the event I would think.

Someone asked if Harry might have now realised himself what Meghan is like and that she controls their life. I looked at the pub pap walk pictures:
They are walking together and holding hands but they aren’t physically close.
There seems to be no interaction between them and no smiles from either of them.
H is fidgeting with his spare hand - it’s in his pocket then up scratching his ear. Of course he might genuinely have had an itchy ear.
It appears that, as soon as the pap shots are deemed over, M drops his hand and zooms off fast towards the pub. She is 5ft ahead of him in seconds. H somewhat meekly follows looking not happy at all.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to warm up into a fun date night. If these are HAM produced pap photos they are not trying to show intimacy and happiness. She’s an actress, a giggly expression could have been used if she had wanted to.

So, if they have been published with M / their joint approval, presumably it’s because M is ok to let the world know it’s not all sweetness and light chez HAM.

Prelude to spending more time apart?

Edited

Someone pointed out that Harry’s hand is not holding her hand, his hand looks slack, and it does look like has grabbed his hand but he is not reciprocating.

I don’t think she is 5’6”, like a lot of celebrities she probably added a few inches to her height for her bio, she looks to be about about 5’2” when you compare her to Harrry.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 04/10/2026 09:59

I was just thinking no WAY is she 5 foot 6

I've also gone off Shauna Kay since she's starting seriously waving her anti KC3 flag. She used to be much more impartial. As for her and Lownie, they almost flirt with each other, it makes me squirm.

I don't mind Lownie and don't think he's seriously anti-monarchy... he makes good points about accountability and transparency.

I applaud anyone making decent, democratically-focused points about the importance of transparency around the apparatus of governance of the people.

Unfortunately I see all too many of these writers and broadcasters slide into the transition of using their research to not only make a few quid (fair enough) but also to join in with unevidenced mud slinging and invasions of personal privacy. For example, Norman Baker starting that stupid rumour in the Daily Mail, based on a misleading and incomplete metric, that William is lazy. That was just self-aggrandisement on Baker’s part. Lownie has made missteps with alleged personal, sensitive data both in its publication and its style of presentation.

I think Shauna is on a slippery slope and needs to think about what position she is adopting based on the ‘evidence’ of Spencer’s shit book, and why she is really doing that.

Just my opinion though. Others are, as ever, available on the board!

KatherineParr · 04/10/2026 10:04

I wonder if we'll ever find out why they're back. The story that they were waiting for places to become available (which never sounded that convincing) obviously isn't true because they pulled the children out so quickly from the first school. Meghan's whole brand/life is focused on California/Montecito. Why the rushed return? What happened?

On a totally different note I like your username @AutumnCrowOfCleves .

Yes I do! I have all of Catherine's books. This is the only way I know about riding horses. And foxes and dogs. And booze, and stately homes.

Ahh, there are 'stately' houses here in Victoria as well. There's as a town called Daylesford here. And loads of horses 😃

But somehow the Cotswolds sounds better. Grass is always greener I suppose.

We won't find out because they're not capable of being honest about their lives

Mymanyellow · 04/10/2026 10:09

I’m 5’6” my son is 6’2” and the difference when we are next to each other doesn’t as much as in those photos. Maybe it’s just deceiving. Strange thing to lie about though.

cheezncrackers · 04/10/2026 10:11

I also think it emphasises that the Sussexes are just not that important.

Ain't that the truth? In their heads they and their DC are of the same importance to the nation and its future as W&C and their DC. But they're not. They lived in the US for six years and it made not one jot of difference. Most people really don't care where they live or where their DC go to school, because it's utterly inconsequential. They don't perform public duties, they live for themselves, do as they please, and that's fine. But they can't have it both ways.
