‘Emotional’ Prince William rejects Diana film offers

In addition to the Platinum Jubilee outfit, didn’t people say the dress she wore in her OW interview was a copy of one of Wallis Simpson’s?

It was always very unlikely that William would do anything after the 20 th anniversary film. He tends to mean what he says. The subsequent antics of his brother and uncle have made it even more unlikely. Who wants to be seen as operating on their grubby level?

Yes it was - I’d forgotten that. Although M is undeniably pretty, with her severe centre parting and pulled back hair she does sometimes look very like Wallis! If this is deliberate, and it does look suspicious, it’s a really odd thing to channel. It’s not going to endear her to those who pick up on the reference and it will go over the heads of most younger people. And it seems like a very passive aggressive message to be giving the royals themselves.

And the car that MM travelled in to her wedding was the one used by Wallis Simpson when she went to her husbands funeral at Windsor Castle

There seems to be some sort of connection going on in MM's brain that I can't fathom

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 27/09/2026 07:31

Maybe Meghan wants to bring down the monarchy as then she can save it, what with being the only one who can..

Wouldn’t the car have been chosen by the Royal Household rather than Meghan? In which case it’s a sweet nod to the fact that they had her number from Day One.

Marquee2go · 27/09/2026 07:38

With all the outfits that resemble either Diana or Wallis it strikes me MM has absolutely no originality at all. Why is she constantly mimicking others, can't she come up with her own ideas?

This is really weird. Not showing up on threads I’m on or threads I’m watching even though when I’m here and look at the little icon it shows I’m watching.
It’s not listed in the Royal Family section even though it says Royal Family above Jeff’s name.
The only way for me to find this thread is through the link in the last thread.

Oh well. I shall go to sleep now and see if it is different in the morning.

So is it just me that can’t find this thread the normal way? Am I shadow banned or something?
It’s really odd. Not showing on “threads I’m in” or “threads I’m watching” or the Royal family board.

I have to go to the link in the last thread. 🤷‍♀️

I agree, but it’s typical of her. I don’t think she has any genuine, deep, longterm interests either (not in history, music, dance, environment, even actual drama!). I really do think she’s a hollow, shallow character who doesn’t even know who she is herself. She copies all the time.

A defender on another thread claimed she was passionate about food, but if you look at her history-especially The Tig- all it really amounts to is loving going to restaurants!

WellI’m sorry - but who doesn’t love going to nice restaurants? It’s hardly an original hobby or any kind of personal achievement.

JuniperJumper · 27/09/2026 08:04

I've often heard it discussed whether it was because MM is an American that she made so many errors in her short time as a Royal and never fitted in.

But when you look at some of the current European monarchies ~

The Queen of Denmark is Australian

The Queen of the Netherlands is Argentinian

The Queen of Sweden is German/Brazilian

The Princess of Monaco is South African

In addition to learning the intricacies of their new country and the various aspects of royal life, they've all had to learn a new language but all of them have done extremely well in their royal roles. Especially the Queen of Sweden who became a Queen on her wedding day as her husband was only 27 when he became King

So it's obviously got to do with MM's personality and, I think, her inability to learn, take advice etc. I've read several different versions of the help that was offered to MM by BP and they all seem extremely sensible for a young woman from a different background. Her refusal on the grounds that Harry would help her was extremely naive as (a) he wasn't experienced enough in Royal duties at that stage and (b) he wouldn't have known or understood the subtleties of dress codes for royal ladies. His last minute tuition in teaching her about curtsying to HMTQ is a prime example of his failure to prepare her and her poor attitude to the correct etiquette

I really feel the whole romance ~ engagement ~ marriage was too hurried in the circumstances and PW was right to tell his brother to take his time over it. Shame PH got in a huff and ignored his brothers advice

Is she intelligent and well informed enough for all this Wallis Simpson stuff? The Diana copying I can see but MM always strikes me as a bit thick and I am not sure about the WS thing, although the white suit is a bit eye popping.

This one is my favourite because you can accidentally wear the same type of dress or colour but you have to make an effort to do the same pose.

The two side by side is like when Lidl does a dupe £3.99 body spray of a £100 Chanel eau de parfum, and it's PR says you can't tell.

Spot the difference. Oh yeah, its right there.

Yes I read the monochrome floral Oprah outfit was a WS tribute

If I can teach myself how to put a pic, I will attempt it.

Armchair diagnosis incoming, if she has some kind of narc traits, apparently they don't have a stable interior self, with preferences, depth etc. So the copying would be shorthand akin to - "see, I am this era's Diana/Wallis; the outsider, the icon, so close to the throne" without really developing one's own true identity, she subsumes the nearest equivalent that works in that moment, then casts it off again

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 27/09/2026 08:35

Interesting. While I don't disagree that MM might have some narc traits - have in fact thought so right from 2018 - I think that the message is "I'm as big a disruptor and threat to the monarchy as these two women were." What she hasn't understood is that Diana was a supporter of the monarchy (how could she not be when her son was going to be king?) and that Wallis didn't actually understand the monarchy's workings and according to some sources I've read, didn't actually want to be queen; it was all being driven by Edward VIII's determination to marry her.

And of course, in the end neither woman ended up being a disruptor. The monarchy learned from Diana, absorbed the message and went on.

Also.... What would Meghan be without the monarchy?

I read an interesting post somewhere which I’ll try to paraphrase

It was talking about William, how he is the one person who doesn’t air grievances. On the day the rest of them were fighting over Charles book, he was doing charity work quietly on the Isle of Bute. She didn’t think it made the papers but it meant a lot to the people there

The rest of them are using her memory to make money and settle scores, he’s used her memory to do work with the homeless and other charities that meant a lot to her. That’s how he remembers her.

He quietly gets on with the job, his children won’t have the horror of reading interviews and trying to cope with the fallout.

I think in an era where everyone is quick to run to the press to air grievances, his silence is admirable.

Absolutely this.
William is showing dignity in the face of all of this.
Diana had two sons.

@MrsDanversGlidesAgainI agree she was trying to portray the image of being a disruptor but it’s just another reminder of how little knowledge of history she has. WS didn’t want to marry Edward, let alone challenge the institution of the monarchy. Her life after marrying him wasn’t exactly happy and she died isolated and alone. Not a great role model.

I’m not sure MM would see herself as a disruptor, I think that’s H’s role. Disruptors are incurable windup merchants, behaviour we see in H all the time.

MM doesn’t wind people up (at least not intentionally). She wants to make an impact but not at the expense of her popularity. I think Meghan craves adoration and fame like a drug, but she doesn’t inspire it as herself so she has to imitate those who do/did.

The comment about Lidl dupes of genuine brands is spot on.

It would help if she opened a book. It never fails to astound me about how ill informed she is.
