Do we think that Harry and/or Meghan will turn up at the Charles Spencer book launch party in NYC tonight?

I think Spencer's supposed to have said that Harry wasn't involved with it, Lunde, so guess it would look pretty odd if he went along

Then again we've had "we have to be able to say we had nothing to do with it" from Harry himself before, so who knows?

AlexandraCarrington · 29/09/2026 13:38

Look at his stance and those big shoulders - like an animal puffing itself up to look bigger to a possible threat. It's a 'come on if you feel hard enough' message.

I once went to a Holbein exhibition at the Tate. They one of his full length pictures of Henry on the wall so that it was the first thing you saw ahead of you when you entered the room. Point very much made.

.....the health of the ruler or a significant political/religious figure

If Edward IV had lived longer - if Bosworth had gone the other way - if Prince Arthur hadn't died - if Elizabeth had died of smallpox in 1562 - if Prince Henry, elder brother of Charles I, hadn't died - if Churchill had died or been killed in his various adventures and misadventures as a child and younger man....

If they were planning to come back, expecting KC to say 'No hard feelings - and would Meghan like to ride in the carriage next week? We've been helpless without you both!" then the letter sent by the king to various organisations must have absolutely stopped them in their tracks.

If they really thought that, they are seriously deluded. But I think the Birmingham school visit shows how necessary it was.

The Diana doc is very much the last throw of the dice for HAM. If that flops, I really don't know where they go from there

i agree, most reporters are saying it will automatically be a huge hit and bring in a huge amount of money for hi, but where to next? A documentary on William and Catherine ?

I'm wondering if it will. It's being bigged up so much with a year to go that it's setting expectations very high.

Candleabra · 29/09/2026 14:02

On the subject of the Tudors (and the interesting points made by earlier posters) I always think it interesting (and awful) that the dynasty rested on the pregnancy of a 12 year old girl (Margaret Beaufort). So much of history is unlikely and hard to predict.

A potential Diana documentary is pretty
much the only reason I can think of that they came back here for, unless something majorly bad meant they had to leave the States. I do think it is interesting that they had just been staying with Spencer before his book came out and now there is talk of a documentary. Maybe there is a link? Who knows 🤷‍♀️

I don't see how it could be a hit. It will focus on how amazing Diana was and how she would have adored Meg 🙄🙄 to top it off, narrated by Meg ffs

Mark D saying Bezos has given 26 million to Ingriftus. Something in it for him. I think the Diana doc will sink. Another explosive tell all for Amazon prime ?

I know but no way Bezos gave that money with no comeback

BasiliskStare · 29/09/2026 14:15

@Starryfifty If true - £26m pretty much gets them through this year. & I can believe that. To be sustainable I think the IG needs committed donations over a number of years , not scrabbling around for H's mates' handouts ( thank you PPs for explaining what the difference between Bezos himself and the company might be ) Now , maybe Amazon have committed for 3 years - I don't know , but IG finances are coming under scrutiny ( not as much as I would like ) so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I assumed they came back for RF adjacency but certainly doesn't seem to be the case. Judging by commentary, H was absolutely miserable in Cali. I well believe it as he was an absolute nobody over there and that's his worst fear

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 29/09/2026 14:20

Oh look, Scooby Doo has popped out from under his stone.

I bet Haz wants to reconcile. He knows who's going to be in charge of the perks when HM goes to the great throne room in the sky. Incidentally, despite HM having cancer, I wouldn't bet on his longevity. He has three close relations who were centenarians or near centenarians.

And he knew no-one - no mates to hang out with, no-one with whom he had a shared history - and had nothing to do. No interests such as reading or painting or gardening to fill his time. He might not have liked having his life organised by the MIGS, but it gave him some structure and purpose.

Bezos is allegedly making a personal donation to Invictus?

BasiliskStare · 29/09/2026 14:34

In the article above this was referenced 'Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince' is streaming on Disney+ and Hulu

Never heard of it . I wonder how the viewing figures for that goes. It might give a clue to how much H&M are " A draw" now.

heatdome · 29/09/2026 14:38

Their Netflix show was a huge hit, but they were big at the time and it had revelations and supposed scandal. It was current, it was gossipy etc. Also was The Crown still on then? I struggle to see how they’re going to make this one interesting enough to attract millions of viewers worldwide. Unless they really make the kids front and centre. Is Diana still popular in the US to the extent that millions will tune in?

The kids will absolutely be front and centre in this. HAM probably thought they would never have to do this but they are both mercenary. Their kids interests come second to theirs unfortunately

Yes, it's a strange one. Wasn't she popped in a pub garden? Anyway, very low profile for Meghan.

Had a friend who was a hanglider pilot. It's a dangerous sport and wind conditions play a huge part in flight safety. They'd stand about 'feeling' the wind, watching it in the trees, watching the birds in flight, etc to try to judge if it was safe to launch. They referred to the1st pilot off the hill in 'questionable' conditions as the 'wind dummy'. Then they'd stand and watch to see how he/she was doing to decide if it was safe for them to launch.

Harry is Meghan's 'wind dummy'. She's not going to 'launch' herself until Harry is safe on the ground, ie back in the bosom of the RF and/or the British populace. If he's successful, she'll jump off the hill. If he fails, she'll fold up her glider and slink off back to Montecito muttering "What a dummy, I'd never have launched in those conditions".

I really hope they don’t as people will compare the DC ( either favourably or unfavourably) with the Wales DC.
There is no need for them to “ launch” their DC as they will not have a public role .
Very unkind.

Harry and his wife should be utterly ashamed if this is what they are planning.

They should be hanging their heads in abject shame and remorse but neither of them have an ounce of decency or humility.

Neither are capable of feeling either shame or remorse at once again exploiting the memory of his own mother and stripping away the last shreds of her privacy and dignity.

That poor woman has been dead nearly 30 years and her scummy spiteful son and his brazen money grabbing wife are two of the vultures picking over her alongside her vile scummy brother.

I feel sorry for Dianas beloved elder son and his family. They are the ones being hurt as Harry has just sunk to a new low for money.
