Here is the video of Charles doing his first parachute jump. The best bit is at the end, he immediately changed into a double breasted gold buttoned blazer, while his hair is still visibly damp. Real James Bond vibes!! 😁

AI overview explains he subsequently did the full training.

AI Overview:

King Charles III completed his first parachute jump on July 29, 1971, famously landing upside down in the sea before being rescued. 1]
The 1971 Jump
The Location: Studland Bay, Dorset.
The Incident: Charles was 23 years old and training as a jet pilot with the Royal Air Force. During the jump from an Andover aircraft, his legs got caught in the rigging lines, leaving him hanging upside down.
The Rescue: He splashed into the cold water and was quickly hauled out by the Royal Marines. 1]
Earning His Wings
Colonel-in-Chief: He was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Parachute Regiment on June 11, 1977.
Full Training: Feeling he could not fairly wear the maroon beret and Para Wings without doing the proper training, he completed Parachute Course 841a at RAF Brize Norton in 1978

If any of that ever happened to Harry, he'd be banging on about it all the time.

CrookedEaredCorgi · 26/09/2026 10:17

Fact is KC was quite the action man when he was younger. He did quite a few dives on the Mary Rose as President of the Mary Rose Trust.

AI Mode conversation: prince charles mary rose dives
prince charles mary rose dives

King Charles III (then Prince Charles) dived on the wreck of the Tudor warship, the Mary Rose, a total of nine times between 1975 and 1982. As the first British monarch to become a fully qualified scuba diver, his active personal involvement and role as President of the Mary Rose Trust provided vital support to the massive underwater archaeological project. 1, 2, 3]
Key Facts About His Dives
The First Dive: He completed his first dive on the wreck site in the Solent, just outside Portsmouth Harbour, on July 30, 1975. 1]
The Final Dive: His ninth and final dive took place on April 28, 1982, making him one of the very last divers to visit the hull before it was raised. 1, 2]
"Lentil Soup" Conditions: Charles later recalled diving in incredibly challenging conditions, describing the murky Solent waters as "like swimming in a kind of lentil soup" where you couldn't see anything until it was directly under your nose. 1]
The Raising: On October 11, 1982, Charles watched from a nearby vessel as the 437-year-old flagship was finally lifted to the surface in a monumental £4 million salvage operation

What an epic fail, poor Harry, he is so terribly incompetent. If he wasn’t so arrogant and self deluded i would feel sorry for him.

Loving the videos of CIII (I bet he was straight in the attic to dig that out when he heard what Harry was up to!)

Cocolapew · 26/09/2026 10:33

Charles was right, the Paras wouldn't take kindly to him wearing the red beret without earning it.
This is my Dad with him though it might be a Marine beret Charles is wearing

From what I can make out from the interview I saw on YouTube ~

PH met a 100+ year old veteran in Canada who had done a skydive to raise money for a childrens hospital

PH said he would do the next skydive with him but the veteran was unable to pass the medical so he sat in the back of the plane whilst PH did the skydive

The veterans son, bless him, has gushed about how kind PH is to fit it into his busy schedule etc etc etc . . .

And PH said MM was very relieved when he got down safely

I have a relative (and their partner) that at times reminds me of HAM.

Thing is, it isn't enough for them to live their best life and let everyone else live theirs: Everyone else should be jealous of their life and realise it's far superior - and say it frequently.

One example was when we bought our first house, at a similar time to them. We asked them what it was like, them never having seen our house, and the first words out of their mouth were "well it's bigger than yours". On paper it was exactly the same number of rooms, and floor area was so close as to be uncommentable. Fine they liked theirs better: we liked ours. Who cares?

If we ever had something they liked, they'd either go and buy a bigger/more expensive one or rubbish/break ours. It was a one sided competition, as we were perfectly content - actually we found it quite amusing to see how long it took to get their version.
When I realised the issue: it wasn't that they had to be happy with what they did; they felt we should have been brimming with envy at what they had/did, so the fact we were perfectly content with what we did/had was driving them to distraction.

Similarly, they present an image that the whole world is waiting to fall down at their feet in awe and wonder at their magnificence. They've occasionally been totally floored when we've been there and the room hasn't risen to their feet to applaud, despite on paper there being nothing special about them and been in a foul mood afterwards. When I at one point asked why they would expect it, bearing in mind that there were lots of people in the same position as them they stammered out "but it's me!"
They like to give the impression that they are loved by so many, people can't get enough of them, and people think they are just amazing at everything from their job through to personal life. I work in a similar field, and not infrequently come across references to them. A few people, generally those who haven't had too much contact, are reasonably positive. But those who have worked closer I hear they're bullies, especially to anyone who may challenge them, arrogant and set themselves up as experts by speaking confidently at a subject they know nothing about.

I actually feel quite sorry for them because, despite all their posturing at being the most popular couple in Britain, I don't think they actually have any friends they could rely on in an emergency - or even to babysit (I know that one for a fact!) for an evening.
If they're out, they will act as "the life and soul of the party" by being loud and silly, and gather people round them. But that doesn't translate into real friends.

It's not enough for them to do their best and enjoy something; everyone else needs to think that they are the best and envy them.

I see something very similar here. For HAM it's not enough to quietly do what they want and make friends and enjoy the side effects of being RF. They have to be seen as doing it better than everyone else, to be more Royal than the RF, have more important friends than the RF, and get better media than the RF. When they don't, they don't understand why because they know they are better than everyone else and so they have a strop because people aren't acknowledging it.

So the attacks on W&K are simply because they won't acknowledge that HAM is better than they are. If W&K would only do that, then they wouldn't have to try and knock them down to prove it!

I think she was too busy making her navy blue leather bookmarks to attend in person.

Personally, I think she's missed a trick. If she had stamped a swan on them she could have teamed up with CS and sold them with his book

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/09/2026 11:06

Fracle · 26/09/2026 08:56

Well, they're certainly not popular any more. Or billionaires, or A-list.

But I think it's important to note that - aside from trashing their relationships with family, friends, and the general public - they STILL have the kind of lifestyle and opportunities that most of us could only dream of. They have the option to live in massive houses with their kids. A choice of countries. A choice of brilliant schools and lovely holidays. Needn't work at any job at all, or could devote their lives to quiet charity work and make a difference to the world. A luxurious lifestyle for life, right there on a plate.

No matter what they've done with their personal finances, there's no way the RF wouldn't fund them and their kids to have a private life beyond the dreams of most of us.

But they are thrashing around trying to be A-list billionaires, and complaining because they're not.

It must be a very miserable existence for the four of them. The two little children have parents who behave like drunken grasshoppers jumping from one place to another, never settling for anything for any length of time. I can imagine there’s incessant bickering about everything and everyone, never satisfied with their lives.

No more school
No more stick
No more horrible arithmetic

No more Latin
No more French
No more sitting on a hard old bench

I can manage the first verse of Adeste Fideles or however you spell it. Never learnt Latin though.

I think there will come a time when they turn on each other when there is no one left to blame. Like rats on a run they will eventually come up against a blank wall where there is nowhere else to run. I don't feel it's going to work out for them in the UK long term.

This is a great explanation. These people regard love, admiration, attention and respect as finite resources that are owed to them so if you attract admiration, respect etc, they regard that as stealing it from them and reach in a completely opposite over the top way.

Even another person speaking can attract Meghan’s ire. Or her need to one up with Serena Williams on her podcast. It’s a terribly exhausting way for them both to live.
