Well, they're certainly not popular any more. Or billionaires, or A-list.

But I think it's important to note that - aside from trashing their relationships with family, friends, and the general public - they STILL have the kind of lifestyle and opportunities that most of us could only dream of. They have the option to live in massive houses with their kids. A choice of countries. A choice of brilliant schools and lovely holidays. Needn't work at any job at all, or could devote their lives to quiet charity work and make a difference to the world. A luxurious lifestyle for life, right there on a plate.

No matter what they've done with their personal finances, there's no way the RF wouldn't fund them and their kids to have a private life beyond the dreams of most of us.

But they are thrashing around trying to be A-list billionaires, and complaining because they're not.

Yes, and it's so short sighted. They still could have an amazing life. They just always focus on what they haven't got; Harry isn't the Prince of Wales, and Meghan isn't Kate. 🍏

I think they wanted to return to a time and place when they were very popular, and had the world at their feet.
The kind of lifestyle and opportunities that most of us could only dream of.
It was their choice to trash it, because they thought they could do better, and be A list billionaires in California, answerable to no-one.

As I have said before , they ( Meghan) objected to playing second fiddle to Catherine , always walking behind her ( hence the wanting to hold hands at Wimbledon) , second choice of jewels etc. .
How they thought it would be different is beyond me.

LaMarschallin · 26/09/2026 09:00

I Googled the "kissing the ground" thing.
What a feeble twerp.
Did he really he wouldn't make it despite being strapped like a big baby to the back of someone undoubtedly very skilled?
Our neighbour did this - and wing-walking - in her 70s. She didn't grovel around, smooching mud afterwards.
Perhaps Harry fancies himself as Pope - John Paul II used to do this as a gesture of respect.

Amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant. Have I remembered this correctly from 60plus years ago or has my recollection varied from the correct declining?
I thought that would be 1st declension.

Therefore, I agree with you, DrUp, on frothatis.

But thank you all, for your slight Roman derailus.

Maybe in the case of the Sussexes, it is the slightly more prosaic version we enjoyed at school

amo
amas
amatit again

😎

Oooooh. All these Latin scholars.

Lifestooshort71 · 26/09/2026 09:03

I think they wanted to set up a celeb court to rival the royal one. Famous names and faces quaffing champagne at different events on a roll of red carpet (while managing to avoid any ribbon cutting - does that still happen?). HAM would have been the common denominators and organisers and SM would have swooned every time, knocking W&K's appearances into touch.

Nope.

Yes, that's how they saw themselves.

Oh yes, Meghan was so much better, everyone else was jealous.

Exactly this.

You gotta laugh, an old video of King Charles doing a solo parachute jump is doing the rounds, it seems AMW also did solo parachute jumps.

Harry will always be the runner up, the late to the party, the underachiever, always falling flat on his face, (photo as proof😀)

MrMarkhamsFanClub · 26/09/2026 09:32

Thedom · 26/09/2026 08:32

That’s true, but how impressive would it have been for him to do something that showed a bit of real effort and grit.

Like the 3 peaks challenge perhaps...oh wait...

IceBrownie · 26/09/2026 09:33

"To everyone I met, thank you for being so loving to my friend".

Does everyone in MM's circle feed this obsession of being perceived as "being loved"?

Talk about needy

"And look at how much better we are at doing the royal thing than those two."

The trouble was, as we know, that neither of them were much good at “the royal thing”, albeit for different reasons!

The bitchy carping about Catherine being dull betrays the fact that HAM fans fail to understand what royalling is actually about.

Mymanyellow · 26/09/2026 09:48

They are both absolutely consumed with envy.
I personally would much rather be the spare I’ve never understood what they’re moaning about.

I think it’s probably the only way to stay in Meghan’s proximity, they have to be prepared to publicly do the sycophant mantra, the excessive compliments, the flattery etc.

Ahem…

Frothatis.

Honestly, after about ten minutes wrangling autocorrects I gave up and went to sleep Grin

elessar · 26/09/2026 09:55

I don’t get the skydive thing at all.

What’s the purpose of it exactly?

when normal people do it it’s a mild novelty and they often raise money for charity through their circle of friends and family.

Is Harry attempting to raise money through the skydive?

Or is it basically just another gimmick to show off and get some publicity for himself (I think I know the answer to that)

Publicity

Yup.
You'd think a supposedly fit ex-soldier would be able to do something a bit more strenuous than being strapped to the back of a more experienced person, cling on during the dive, then be so grateful it all went well that he kissed the ground.
Maybe a triathlon or something? 🤔
Or Meghan could get him one of those vouchers for his birthday that allows you to have a go in a racing car with someone more experienced driving you round.
He'd be so happy, making "Brrrmmm brrrmmm!" noises and it might be a bit less scary if he stays on the ground.

CrookedEaredCorgi · 26/09/2026 10:14

Here is the video of Charles doing his first parachute jump. The best bit is at the end, he immediately changed into a double breasted gold buttoned blazer, while his hair is still visibly damp. Real James Bond vibes!! 😁

AI overview explains he subsequently did the full training.

AI Overview:

King Charles III completed his first parachute jump on July 29, 1971, famously landing upside down in the sea before being rescued. 1]
The 1971 Jump
The Location: Studland Bay, Dorset.
The Incident: Charles was 23 years old and training as a jet pilot with the Royal Air Force. During the jump from an Andover aircraft, his legs got caught in the rigging lines, leaving him hanging upside down.
The Rescue: He splashed into the cold water and was quickly hauled out by the Royal Marines. 1]
Earning His Wings
Colonel-in-Chief: He was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Parachute Regiment on June 11, 1977.
Full Training: Feeling he could not fairly wear the maroon beret and Para Wings without doing the proper training, he completed Parachute Course 841a at RAF Brize Norton in 1978
