Hope no-one minds that I started this one...

Continuing the saga of Sussex PR disasters.

The last paragraph says it all. Years ago ai was involved with a Future Talent event that HRH The Duchess of Kent attended as Mrs Kent. I tried to generate publicity for the event and was told, extremely politely by her PA, that she was there as a private citizen and wanted zero attention and absolutely no publicity.

Harry, take note.

TBF to H unless things have changed the only people in the UK military that do any form of parachute training are the specialists (the paras and a few other units)..

Outside of that about the only thing available was a very abbreviated course that ended with individuals doing a static line jump, not free fall into the water off, I think Poole Harbour. I maybe wrong but I think KC may have done that a long time ago.

I can't see H putting in the time or effort to get to Tom Cruise level..

So all this fuss and bother and nothing has changed. Did Harry think that security would just materialise? Did he think that the country would roll out the red carpet for him? Did he think that after a couple of visits to charities others would be clamouring to sign him up? Did he think a tandem jump, which anyone's granny can do these days, would make him look like an action man?

Did he think?

Or did he once again make a quick, emotion led decision with no forethought, no plan, no regard for anyone around him?

No wonder Swan Song isn't changing anyone's opinion, who would want the alternative?

Did they think they could arrive back and present themselves as an alternative to the Wales and the British public would say ‘you’re amazing you can be the next king and queen’

They really have no patience, which is very funny

I think they wanted to return to a time and place when they were very popular, and had the world at their feet.
The kind of lifestyle and opportunities that most of us could only dream of.
It was their choice to trash it, because they thought they could do better, and be A list billionaires in California, answerable to no-one.

Harry wants to live in the UK because it was where he actually had status and success. Before he chucked it.

Like a lot of people, Harry constructs a scenario in his head about how things are going to happen and then gets aggrieved when no-one else has read the script or falls in with the plan.

The Canadian government was quite sharp about not wanting to provide security any more after they went there immediately post-Megxit. IIRC, it was there where the news broke about them using guards as gophers, sending them out to run errands etc.

You can train to be a skydiver in a few weeks, I think there are even one week intensive courses to get certified. How long since he promised that man he would skydive with him? He had all the time in the world to do something that might be a bit impressive and which is not a tourist attraction for the masses. My 12 year old did a tandem jump, along with my husband and older teen.

Oh yes, I know that with training, long course or short course aka I think accelerated you can train up to free fall standard PDQ, I was mainly making the point that being ex-military doesn't automatically equate to being parachute trained in any way shape or form....

H patently wasn't able to devote time to a course, or didn't want to, so tandem was just about the only option.

Have been going to Latin classes for 3 years, so if there's one thing I do know it's amo.

The idea was to get publicity, not to learn how to parachute.

Were they ignoring the very clear polls about their current status in the UK., showing the mood of the country with regards to them ? It’s nothing new, the polls for years now have shown they are almost as disliked as AMW.

It’s a bit like some of the posters who generated polls and then dismissed them when the polls results didn’t fit their narrative and was a short sharp reality check.

I'm not sure. Both Harry and Meghan have well documented mental health issues, freely discussed by themselves. Harry has well documented substance abuse issues, he's also not got a good memory.
Perhaps they're looking at it through their own lens, as Meghan would say.

Well, they're certainly not popular any more. Or billionaires, or A-list.

But I think it's important to note that - aside from trashing their relationships with family, friends, and the general public - they STILL have the kind of lifestyle and opportunities that most of us could only dream of. They have the option to live in massive houses with their kids. A choice of countries. A choice of brilliant schools and lovely holidays. Needn't work at any job at all, or could devote their lives to quiet charity work and make a difference to the world. A luxurious lifestyle for life, right there on a plate.

No matter what they've done with their personal finances, there's no way the RF wouldn't fund them and their kids to have a private life beyond the dreams of most of us.

But they are thrashing around trying to be A-list billionaires, and complaining because they're not.
