Do you believe Charles Spencer that Charles Windsor said to him during a phone call "we'll forget her soon enough."

Maybe you should stop reading forums where people often spout rubbish and who clearly have never lived in the UK.

You maybe also need to get out a bit more (in England) and you will find we are the salt of the earth- kind, helpful, generous and warm.

Where in England do you live?

I am English and live in England.

The stereotype doesn't offend me. I know people think that of us. They've told me.

Your last line, I don't agree on that. I have met friendlier people in other countries

I've met friendly and unfriendly people in various places. I live in England in a very friendly place!
It's usually best not to make generalisations about national attributes like that.

Well, there is no knowing if you really do live here.

Meeting people in other countries as a tourist is not a good basis for deciding they are more warm and friendly.

As I said there is a vast difference between being 'cold' and 'reserved'.
And there is also a vast difference across the UK with some regions being less reserved than others.

@Flufffluff11 you SAID this . 🤷‍♀️

It's the boarding schools that make the aristocracy cold.

Oh, another stereotype.

My former partner went to a top public school- not Eton but the same league.
They were not cold.

Zara and Peter (Princess Anne's children) went to a good boarding school.

Are they cold as well?

Do you have vast experience of a) the aristocracy and b) the education system?

You're making it sound as if you do.

I wouldn't say boarding schools definitely make people cold. But the facts are - they make children live away from their parents from a young age.

I think they need to study the emotional impact of that more

At the end of the day William will be King and Charles Spencer will probably not get an invite if his carry on continues.

He and Harry can do an embittered commentary from a GB News truck outside the cathedral.

Yes that would be unfair on william he's a sort of innocent in this although I don't know what possesed him to critise Megan early on.

That immediaty causes issues hurt lack of trust....
Howwver William is an innocent and that's chicken feed compared to the mountains of manure they have both had to dig up through in that family ! The worlds grandest soap opera !!

40 years of hard drinking doesn't help your cognitive function. The damage has been done.

On the other hand, now he has been sober for a year maybe he can see everything more clearly....

Does it only do it to the aristocracy or every person who has been to boarding school? There's a programme airing currently called Seven Up which very much contradicts your comment if the latter.

ButeNonagenarianMadeMeGasp · 20/09/2026 14:01

Presumably Harry, Diana annd Charles Spencer are also examples of the cold boarding school aristo type then?

TheRoyalInkPot · 20/09/2026 14:01

It's going to get really ugly now.
I can't believe days later that Charles W thinks it was appropriate to send out that message

Because that was denfence against one comment what about all the rest ?

Is he really that silly that he can't remember all the other stuff ?

You don't seem to understand what a decline in cognitive function is.

So what is your point? That there has to be a tit for tat slanging match in the media each trying to out-do each other's memories?

KC can't win. In the past when the RF said nothing , and him, they were accused of being weak or out of touch. Now, when he hits back, that's not right, or not enough, or whatever.

No matter how much we read your posts, you don't understand cognitive decline. Losing 50% of your cognitive function (as an example) does not make you 'see more clearly'.

Have you seen Charles Spencer interview? It is not a soft interview, he is grilled. He comes across as sharp and intelligent

Yes I do. But when caused by alcohol it may not be permanent. (unlike Alzheimers Disease)
If a person stops drinking, receives nutritional support (like thiamine), and undergoes medical rehabilitation, cognitive decline can halt, and brain function may significantly recover

Noodles1234 · 20/09/2026 14:12

No I don’t, there were many interviews where the Earl of Spencer claimed after she passed that Charles was kind and polite etc. I do think there is pain, appeared blame and possibly guilt on both sides of her families. Why now? Why not either at the time or as grief can affect people maybe a year or a decade later. No one really knows, but I would suggest Charles attempted to speak with Mr Spencer a few times and the Spencer Family have a lot of hatred towards Charles and Co.

Over the years it has manifested into all sorts and something has been built from it all into the claims today.

I think most people who have suffered a sudden and painful death shared between two families where there had been animosity there will naturally be apportioned blame and grievance, especially with a divorce.
When you are a neutral person between two warring people you may see issues on both sides and I personally believe this is more the case.

Harry and co are still hanging on her coat tails. Diana, this poor blooming woman, she can’t get a minutes peace even in death. Everyone claiming to know what she said, knew or felt. I think it would be healthier now to cherish her memory and become who she would be proud of and not dragging others through the dirt every 5 minutes in her name. Thing is now, with Harry and now this it’s all a bit compassion fatigue.

KCitsweyourHammiewevecomehomenow · 20/09/2026 14:13

Well his story has changed radically, is that cognitive decline or is he lying ? Both accounts can’t be true as they are completely separate ?

Being intelligent is no guide to morality.

Intelligent people are able to persuade and manipulate opinion more easily than their dimmer friends.

OP - how are you feeling about the 70/30 poll result?
