Do you believe Charles Spencer that Charles Windsor said to him during a phone call "we'll forget her soon enough."

What would you call bringing up two children in a shared custody arrangement if not co-parenting? Are you saying that people with DC in boarding school do not parent them?

Co means together. I know one divorced couple that do things together with their children. I would call that co- parenting.

Diana and Charles did things totally seperately with the children

Do you really think people visiting the Estate, viewing the exhibition and the temple don’t also gaze across the lake at the island and the decorative plinth? They are visiting her burial site - you are arguing semantics here.

You could say the same about the Taj Mahal.

He did need to go with them - for his own public image.

Yes, but he needed to go with them anyway. An ex wife and sister had died.

This is one of the funniest posts I have read in a long time! 🤣. Rest assured, if tourists are still flocking to Althorp in 400 years time, I will agree with you then that you are right, and Diana is no longer the drawcard.

My mother (divorced) didn't go to my fathers funeral, or have anything to do with the arrangments, when he died.

How old were you when your father died?

Flufffluff11 · 19/09/2026 20:03

I was 15

That is not what co-parenting means. Couples who never speak to each other can still co-parent. Also, how do you know they never spent time together as a family?

How do I know. Because Harry wrote about it in his book.

I feel really sorry for you then. 15 is very young to lose a parent.

Okay, but that's your family. Not every family behaves the same. Got nothing to do with the Windsors.

I was replying to the poster who said that he had to go, because it was his ex wife.

I actually think that many divorced couples would avoid each other's funeral arrangements

Do you also know that Harry was at school when the Queen Morher died, and that Diana gave him an Xbox for his birthday, four years before they existed?

"Not every family behaves the same" - how true !
IMO some of these aristocrats are rather insular.
Charles married a woman who's ex-husband had had an affair with his (Charles') sister.
Nothing like keeping it in the family.🙄

Yes they do seem to have very loose morals.

Xbox - he probably meant PlayStation. An easy and minor mistake to make.

I grew up with a brother. He had so many games consoles, I can't remember at what time he had a Nintendo 64, PlayStation or xbox

"Why did the Spencers all let her down so badly?"

I'm not sure that they did.

When I visited Althorpe I saw a table plan of a banquet they had where they put Prince Charles (as he was then) next to Lady Di's older sister Lady Sarah (now Mc Corquedale) to introduce them.
Lady Sarah is said to have admitted to having been diagnosed with anorexia, having "thousands of boyfriends," a past problem involving alcohol, and having started keeping a scrapbook of all the press clippings about her royal romance that she intended to show future grandchildren.
"Her head seemed to be turned by the publicity," the two reporters later said. Lady Sarah also declared that she would not marry Charles "if he were the dustman or the King of England."When the article was released, Lady Sarah showed it to the prince, who was infuriated by it.The relationship dissolved soon after that. (From Google)
It seems that 'like attracts like' and the whole family was dysfunctional.

I don't think Diana was the 'brightest crayon in the box' and when she wanted to call off the engagement her father bullied her into carrying on with it. She was too quiet to speak up and say what she wanted.

Gosh it's worse than I thought! A table plan of a banquet ? How desperate do you have to be ? 😬

How do I know. Because Harry wrote about it in his book.

Harry wrote about a lot of things in his book. One example. He wrote that he never went on a bicycle as a child, to which the Internet was inundated with photos of Harry with his family riding bicycles.

Harry is also on the record saying that the his memory of events and his emotions around them are as true as the actual facts.

Just because Harry wrote about something doesn't make it true.

To be fair to him we are all unreliable narrators of our own lives to some extent. It's just that there is actual proof of his misremembering whereas the rest of us get away with it.

Perfectly sensible imho. Apparently many visitors to Althorp were asking for copies and so they had them bound and available for sale. Why not? It’s a very good , well written, speech.

Were they now?
