School experience for William's children

I'm not a royalist by any means so forgive me if this is common knowledge. I saw that George has moved to Eton and it made me wonder how normal of a school experience William and Kate's children have? I know many on mumsnet have dc at Eton or at least they say so so is George just an ordinary pupil there? Does he have a security guard around him at all times? Do the teachers/pupils have to call him by a title? Does he always get picked in games for the best positions because of who he is? In primary school (I know they aren't at the local infants' school, not sure what it's called though) can they go for play dates to their friends' houses or to the local park to play football after school?
Before anyone replies "who cares" work is very quiet at the moment!

@zipitpls

I use the app and I’ve not noticed that at all. Maybe it is worth telling MNHQ if you believe that there is a glitch.

Insinuating someone has name changed is wrong. Report it if you think it is happening.

Did you report the name change suspicion or just your opinion on a post?

No one has said OP had an inappropriate interest in children.

I certainly questioned the questioning about their security and their school lives.

Those details shouldn’t be up for speculation unless the parents choose to disclose the information.

My opinion won’t change on that.

I think you can on the app; no troll hunting intended or otherwise. I honestly don’t understand the response if she’s not the poster on the first page.

As I say, I did report it as to me it was insinuating that the OP had an inappropriate interest in children and I thought that was out of order. I still do. But MN don’t agree, so 🤷🏼‍♀️

No, you can't change names on the app; it stops that, and a reminder comes up not to try. I've just checked.

Williaminagingerwig · 16/09/2026 18:31

It's fine to suggest that children should be left alone, and deserve privacy about their schooling and their free time. eg. speculation about what they get called or their play dates. It's ok to talk about the now grown up ones, however, and discuss the schooling of Charles, William and Harry, especially if they've spoken about it themselves.

I’m with you and MNHQ.

Interesting to report a rather common word choice while being perfectly untroubled about a thread started to discuss the life of a real live child.

Yes, absolutely.

Agree wholeheartedly with you.

Really difficult to understand why anyone would take issue with this!

I do agree with you.

However I’ve been vocal about saying parents should keep their big traps shut about their children as well.

damnatiomemoriae · 16/09/2026 20:09

Absolutely. Likewise.

pearshapedpie · 16/09/2026 20:20

I’d imagine he’s a bit of a pauper compared to some of the pupils. My husband went to a ‘lesser’ school and some foreign prince had private quarters with aircon put in and his own staff.

zipitpls · 16/09/2026 12:49

Not sure if you’re the poster on the first page name changing @fuschiaproudparrot but I interpreted it the same way as the OP and I was a bit taken aback to say the least.

I actually reported the post as I thought it crossed a line but evidently MN did not agree.

What ? Name changing on a thread ? I'm on the app and you can't do it anyway . Weird comment .

Are you saying I am unhinged?

Where are you @Zippedydoobaah?

whereswaldo · 16/09/2026 21:56

LongTallTally · 15/09/2026 19:27

I'm curious, if the eldest is known as Major and the youngest Minor, what would a third child be known as?

I think it’s Major, Minor and Minimus..

LongTallTally · 16/09/2026 21:58

whereswaldo · 16/09/2026 21:56

Thank you. It's a very different world, isn't it?

I won't ask about number 4!

Usedtobeuser76538 · 16/09/2026 22:05

I can assure you that they are definitely being called by their first names

Surely they shouldn't be talking about any students? That would be an invasion of their privacy.

I meant students talking about other students, that’s why I wrote fellow students.

It would be usual for a boy to talk to his parents about his friends at school or other boys he shares lessons with, I would have thought, but possibly discouraged in this case.

No, I meant not just royal students.. which is why I said they shouldn't be talking about any students.

Who shouldn’t be?

Within family conversations, with regards to non-royal pupils
students will
teachers shouldn’t

Outside the family
Nobody should.

Usedtobeuser76538 · 16/09/2026 23:20

Do you honestly think that 13 year old boys don't chat about all their friends at school, who is in their boarding house, who they played football against etc? When they go home next month they'll see all their friends from home who aren't boarding & you seriously believe they don't chat about who they've met & what they've been doing. OK.

Musketpipeanddrum · 16/09/2026 23:52

damnatiomemoriae · 16/09/2026 16:35

I don’t like the term unhinged either. Especially when used in a sweeping statement.

It is a tired insult suggesting that people must be ‘mad’ for holding a different opinion or challenging something and is almost always directed at women. See also hysterical. And ‘are you quite well?’

Shame really.

Come on now. Are you not familiar with hyperbole or exaggeration for effect?
It’s often used in social media posts to make up for the fact that you can’t hear verbal inflections or see facial expressions when reading typed posts.

I am going to respectfully disagree and say that when one group of posters becomes so obsessed by, and protective of, a British institution, that they frequently try to police the posts of others on an open discussion forum. who don’t hold the same views as themselves, then that does amount to unhinged or irrational behaviour, yes!

It’s particularly irrational, not to mention unpleasant, of posters to suggest that the op has an inappropriate interest in the royal children, rather than just normal curiosity about how the other half live.

And its also irrational to object to general discussion about K and W’s children which is already out there in the public domain, when thousands of posts on other threads about Meghan and Harry’s children, from when they were in the womb to the present day, are apparently totally acceptable.

TheOvertGardener · 17/09/2026 00:05

Expressing a contrary opinion is not:
Irrational
Obsessed
Unhinged
Policing

damnatiomemoriae · 17/09/2026 00:16

Yet again seeing things that aren’t there.

Respectfully? I don’t care. Please see my post at 0201.

jeffgoldblum · 17/09/2026 00:28

Would it be too much to ask that all the royal children are left alone to atleast attempt something close to a normal life without constant thinly veiled threads that are the equivalent of rubbernecking at possible accident.

Absolutely agree but I hope that applies to all royal children and includes Meghan and Harry’s offspring too, because lots of people on this board often comment on Meghan’s pregnancies, the events following Archie’s birth, that Lillibet has a horrid name, that the children are supposedly not looked after properly by H and M, that M she doesn’t brush their hair properly, and more recently about their schooling and security, and everyone seems to think that is absolutely fine?
