Well quite, and anyway I would have thought that on a personal level (as opposed to a genetic one) they are very much not members of the royal family.

When HLMTQ made her statement that they remained much loved members of the family they had yet to comprehensively trash the institution and betray the privacy of other family members. I think it’s pretty clear that those who were targeted don’t consider them part of their family at all and may never change that position.

Totally agree. They are clearly no longer seen as part of the family apart from in name only. You dont spend years treating your family like that and then expect to sashay back as though nothing happened.

Thank you for these threads @jeffgoldblum 👋

You are very welcome @AcquadiP, I must add that it isn’t just me , many other posters here have carried the baton , it’s currently only my turn ❤️

It's just extraordinary to think that they actually did?
What on earth were they thinking?!

Although it's the main one the Paralympics aren't the only alternative, MrsLF, but you're spot on as usual about the pointlessness of lashing out millions on something that's become completely hijacked by the H&M show

That Harry was indulged in setting it up is well seen - they were probably just relieved to see him doing anything positive - it most of its value's gone now and the time for a gentle close seems ripe

It would have been better if they had kept the costs down, and far more in keeping with the scale of the event.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 14:23

But HOW from here going forward are they actually going to earn any significant dosh?

Their multi million dollar/pound/euro properties, plus security costs, must have heavily eaten into their capital and the money has stopped flowing in.
Does the interest on remaining capital fund their lifestyle?

Or are they burning through the capital at the rate of knots.

Given their ages they have a long stretch of years ahead that require decent income streams coming in. But where from now?

As they thrash around trying to gain some footing on “their World stage” the opportunities are constantly diminishing and the brick walls growing higher.

The latest clarification from KC simply underlines to the World at large their diminished status and reminds all and sundry (ironically not least of all H&M) that they remain non working Royals but private citizens.

So back to the question of how are they going to bring in the £s with their return to the UK? And who on earth is going to want to pay them mega wonga as I can’t see any decent income stream for them going forward.

I honestly don't know and he's desperately trying to settle out of court with Dr Sophie and she won't settle for a pittance

Puzzledandpissedoff · Yesterday 14:24

Clearly they're not, @Kipperandarthur, since if either had any talent in that direction it would have happened already

So now they're back, most likely relying on dad's money, which will probably carry conditions and may or may not continue once he's gone ... and if Meghan hangs around long under circumstances like that I'll be most surprised

I don't normally read the royal family threads but these have become my guilty secret. Sitting in the dentist's waiting room earlier I was struggling to contain my laughter and getting funny looks. So time to delurk and say how entertaining you all are👋

Welcome and join the fun! , the humour keeps us from crying in frustration! 😁

I agree on everything else, but unlike with Trustees who have a more formal role, Patrons are merely honorary titles and they have little legal or financial responsibility of any kind

It follows from this that - unless the charity's founding documents say otherwise - getting rid of them is a very simple matter for the board if enough feel the same

Except that, for whatever reason, it appears they may not or surely it would have been done

It is a simple matter to vote them off, yes. But founders often have developed a lot of links over time and can cause a lot if fallout as they go.

Badvocthebad · Yesterday 14:30

I don't think W will ever forgive HaM and I truly don't blame him.

I hope, once he's King, that he takes titles away from all non working* royals.

H is clearly struggling. Has been for years, but his more outrageous behaviour was always covered up by the Palace...which I imagine irritated W a lot.

I knew the whole "fab 4" nonsense was rubbish when HaM were criticised for taking private jets...next thing yoh know W&C went on holiday via a commercial flight (easyjet?). Ooof. A very clear shot across the bows P and C haven't done it since!

The Aussie Omid Scobie is claiming that Harry's spoken to Pa on the phone. She broke the story about them moving back to the UK because she's in the WA group and on MM's speed dial.

https://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/922404/prince-harry-has-spoken-to-king-charles-despite-reports-of-silence-details/

I highly doubt the King is taking calls from Harry given his behaviour. I dont give any credence to a report from someone in the sewer squad

They still have sufficient that income from investments should give them a very comfortable life. Not at the level they might like but comfortable by anyone else’s standards. They would be as well to find themselves some more domestic interests though to keep themselves occupied.

I somehow think they won't be satisfied with just being rich and having projects. They've got to be very rich and with A list status!

Prince Edward definitely takes commercial flights. He was on the same one as me recently. A small plane where first class means they don’t book the middle seat, (though didn’t take the bus from the gate to the plane).

Puzzledandpissedoff · Yesterday 14:40

This is also very true, @Chrysanthemumsinpots, but if it came to a choice of weathering some temporary unpleasantness or watching the whole thing go down the pan I'd personally plump for the first (and have)

Links or not, I genuinely can't see what benefits Harry brings now which aren't massively outweighed by his and Meghan's sheer toxicity, but it seems that's not the view of the board - or at least not yet

I totally agree. The King has made clear that they are entirely private citizens. Nobody is interested in paying either of these hypocrites to endlessly pontificate about themselves. Everything they tried in the US flopped because nobody cares about watching Meg pretend to be a jam entrepreneur or Harry to deliver vague hypocritical word salad for Better Up or the entirely ridiculous Travalyst.

I really should be working but I looked at Travelyst website (still doesn't really explain its actual purpose) but it states it is "lead by the Dook on a pro bono basis " does that mean he's not getting a salary from this ??

Handbagsandoldcurtains · Yesterday 14:51

Of course no salary doesn’t mean expenses aren’t claimed.
