Thanks for the new thread. I’ve been out all morning so has taken me ages to catch up. It will be interesting to see if other countries who are thinking attending Ingriftus may be too costly will jump on the back of Uganda’s proclamation.
It really just gets worse for poor Harold. 🎻

surely now is the time for W & C to come out guns blazing

Why would they need to though, @HardyFox?

Part of their appeal is that they've always kept themselves "clean" and detached from the mess - at least in public - and I can't see them changing that now William's turn is growing ever closer

As things stand they'll be able to build an image as new brooms, and when there's no longer any question of William having to defer to his father it'll be interesting to see what his approach is

Hello!
I'm new around these parts and this may not be the place to say but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else so sorry if it offends or is inappropriate..but...
If I understand it correctly HAM are saying they want to be public figures.
William and Catherine are remaining tight-lipped about the whole thing.
HAM have mugged off KC enought for him to send 'the letter'.
So, surely now is the time for W & C to come out guns blazing. The summer is over, the kids are back at school, they now need to be mopping up all the hospital, charity, whatever visits in grand style with lots of publicity so there is just nowhere where second-rates HAM will be wanted as who wants to court bad publicity or no publicity for their cause?
Like I said, apologies if this is not the place ....

I can see where you're coming from, but I think the last thing W&C will want to do is look like H&M have them scared. William has also shown a steely resolve to do what he thinks is best, even if there's public criticism.

Besides, I don't think they need to rush out and do a bunch of engagements like hospital visits. William is representing the monarch at King Harald's funeral. It's appearances (probably not the right word for a funeral, sorry) like these that really burnish those royal credentials, not showing up to random hospital.

The Ugandan bloke sounds like an interesting character...

True, my only concern is that the Sussex’s and their more extreme fans will use this as a stick to beat the U.K. and rf with and cite it as proof of their victimisation! 🙄

I'm sure you're right, but I really do think that the majority of people have got their measure now. Their superfans are extreme, and quite frightening (nasty SM hate campaigns over the slightest slight) but I don't think they're very numerous. And most intelligent celebrities are backing off.

I really hope the RF's NA, NE policy wil prove to have worked in the long term. It was frustrating at first that the horrible lies and accusations were largely allowed to go unchallenged, but the old adage, 'give a fool rope enough and he'll hang himself', seems to have been true of the HAMs.

I don't doubt it, Jeff, but the remaining fans' credibility seems no better than that of their idols so I'm not sure they'd have that much effect

Admittedly there's entertainment in reading some of the ramblings, but I don't think anyone's yet said how the "big return" can possibly be painted as a positive?

Times article about Uganda

https://www.thetimes.com/article/2b642ccb-e9be-4f47-bf35-21f7e3b8bac1?shareToken=ef544fb1e4a0b974e742768f4bd00e53

Reading this, I think this isn't really about Invictus for the Ugandans but it's still funny all the same.

Thanks @NormalAuntFanny.

Not sure KC3 will appreciate that ringing endorsement, but yes, definitely funny.

ETA Thanks for the thread @jeffgoldblum.

Hello atlus! , yes but only the times article, it’s good to see the DMs take on the same story though! , often different media adds different details , thanks.

I'm sure they'll be extra warmly greeted on their visits!

But it's not the RF style to sway with every little breeze and they tend to carry on carrying on, and let public opinion come round - for better or worse.

I'm sure the crazy 'H & M haven't done anything wrong - they're victims!' crowd will still be vociferous, but the RF's best bet is to get on quietly with what they do best and 'show, rather than tell'.

It will be interesting to see, though, how the public respond to them and to the Sussexes if they manage to bag any public appearances!

It'll end very badly for H. He's now out of the RF as per latest statement. What is he going to do when Meg spits him out ?

Yes you and coffee are correct, I guess I’m feeling more cautious lately! And I can’t stand the constant moaning about victimhood , from a purely personal perspective, everytime they cockup , the target for supporters seems to be Jeff shaped .

The problem Invictus is going to have is the cost. When you already have the Paraolympics why do countries need to spend extra money to host or take part in a purely attended, narrowly focused games?

HardyFox · Yesterday 13:44

Yes, now I totally agree that it would be best for W & C to ‘rise above’, not appear to be rattled and carry on as normal. That makes much better sense - play the long game rather than rush in guns blazing. They are obviously far better at strategy than I would be!
Harry’s supercilious smirk in the press the other day really rattled me so heaven__ knows how the RF are feeling about the pair behind closed doors.
But, you are all right, revenge is a dish best eaten cold.

To be fair the head of the Ugandan military has also demanded Jay Z hand Beyoncé to him to marry so possibly another loose cannon son.
