Thanks for the new thread, @jeffgoldblum.

We were talking on the last thread about Invictus funding.

The site I linked to before (for a couple of fun satires) has an article on it, based on the figures from Rachel the Curious Pilot and Paula Froelich.

I'm leaving it here in case anyone is interested
Brewtiful Invictus Games finances

Their final analysis to me reflects the issues that were problematic at Sentebale, but that Harry wasn't prepared to acknowledge:
The Invictus Games is not running out of purpose. It is running out of the automatic goodwill that once made purpose sufficient. The numbers do not prove corruption. They prove scale, opacity and mission drift...

There's already a docuseries about Diana in the pipeline for 2027, led by Andrew Morton. Her friend, Dr Robert Colthurst has 5 hours of hitherto unheard (by the public) tapes that had formed the basis for the Andrew Morton book. No doubt full of juicy titbits about Charles and Camilla. Not sure Harry can top that, unless he's going to go full conspiracy theory.

Honestly, are people really interested in yet more documentaries or books on Diana now? , most already know it all and the young don’t care , these days only scandals sell and frankly airing anymore “secrets “ about Diana is ghoulish and in bad taste, let the poor woman rest in peace.

I have always expected him to go down the conspiracy theory road regarding Diana. The RF had her murdered or such like. He might well do if a boring documentary does generate much interest

I’m not sure that the entire world talks about their mother endlessly at all. I think Diana is not on the radar of anyone under 50.

If they do start talking about her - it’s a risk of kicking the hornets nest and a review of the reality that was hidden at the time - emotional dysfunction, media manipulation, multiple affairs with married / attached men begun before PH was 2 years old, serious fallings out with numerous friends and family.

A closer inspection might not be what PH anticipated. Maybe that’s why PW had the sense to leave her reputation in peace as it stands.

Sure, Diana isn't the big news item she once was, but she's still a a very well-known figure around the world and she was "rediscovered" by whole generations of under-50s through The Crown on Netflix. Every single day her name appears in the UK media at least. Do a Google news search for Diana Princess of Wales and there are dozens of articles on her published in just the past few days in magazines from different countries. And next year will be the 30-year anniversary of her death, when there will no doubt be heaps of coverage about her.

Starryfifty · 04/09/2026 18:30

Personally I'd love to see a more balanced Diana documentary. Perhaps showing her many flaws as well as her many strengths

There might be heaps of coverage, but are there takers?

I very clearly remember the Diana years. I’m probably their target demographic and I’m not interested.

Yes, I would agree. Sometimes on here, posters get defensive and portray her as some sort of saint or martyr. She wasn't. She was a flawed woman who sometimes behaved badly and made mistakes, but other times tried to use her influence for good. A balanced and objective doc would be interesting. A counter to the ridiculous fiction in "The Crown".

Exactly poppy , the only things that have not been combed over publicly are the salacious and sordid details of her love life and private life and despite anyone’s opinion of her , that is not our business and will only lead to more upset to her family and those who were involved and are still living.

Although the alleged “documentary” will supposedly be about Diana, it will really be about the HAMS and the hamlets, it will be their worldwide launch in completely claiming Diana as theirs and theirs only, they are Diana’s real family, they are the ones who stood against the evil royal family not like treacherous William and Catherine, they are the ones carrying on her legacy, and Meghan, well she will be promoted as the living embodiment of Diana herself, oh and of course making themselves a shedload of cash in the process of selling his mother out.

You may be correct Bigwilly, but for their own sakes I hope they don’t attempt this ….the contempt and outrage this would cause would completely sink their reputations ! , things have moved on since the Oprah interview and people and the media are no longer afraid of correcting and calling out their bad behaviour and lies.

Of course they'll shill this for every last dime and will include the kids. They are utterly shameless and there are no depths they won't plummet

Beetbeet · 04/09/2026 19:02

I'm over 50, and relatively interested in the RF, and I wouldn't bother watching a Diana documentary.

It's all been done to death already, and it was a long time ago. It was all very interesting when it was current "gossip." But now? It's not news any more. Even 'unheard tapes' are going to be about ancient history.

Surely there's only so long they can keep rehashing the same old ground? It just looks like exploitation now. People with no other resources mining the private life of a figure who can't do anything to prevent it.

Of course not. He's utterly delusional when it comes to his mummy and everything else really

BemusedAmerican · 04/09/2026 19:15

It would be great if the five hours of tapes includes her whining about Harry "He keeps asking for sausages ".

Is Charlotte G in the Sussex WhatsApp group? 😁.

Also, after watching that Palace Confidential, I have lost all respect for Richard Kay. William should stay away from HAM.

I'll watch if later but surely he's not suggesting William apologises to H? I usually like Richard.
Mark Dolan also baffling me. He's suggesting HAM get full armed security (same as KC and William)

bluegreygreen · 04/09/2026 19:35

No, to be fair to him he does think that Harry needs to apologise to William.

He is saying, though, that William has a responsibility, as the next king, to work out a way that he and Harry can be about each other in public, and that the brothers should probably meet up in private first.

Richard Eden disagrees, and says that given everything Harry has done he should be ignored like a spoilt toddler who wants his own way.

I think sometimes (just my opinion) Richard Kay is biased because of his friendship with Diana, and wanting things to work out between Diana's boys.

There's allegedly 5 hours of unaired interviews, so apparently not everything she had to say about her life and marriage is known to the public. There's possibly stuff in there Morton wasn't able to print back then. I imagine there will be plenty of interest, if only because it's a landmark anniversary, the man she love/hated is on the throne, and there's so much controversy involving her youngest son. Even if it is only the older generation that is interested, that's still a big chunk of the viewing public. It might be bad taste, but as you say, bad taste sells - it's arguably no worse taste than endless true crime documentaries and reality TV/shagging programming.

I was getting my Richards mixed up 😂 R Kay is a gobshite.

Harry is utterly toxic. His hatred of his brother and his family is troubling to say the least. If William has any sense, he'll keep his poisonous brother, his wife and kids away from him and his family

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/09/2026 19:55

I don't think William would be that bothered by Harry doing something about their mother, though. The entire world talks about their mother endlessly, so I'm not sure it would bother William if her other son did something about his mother

I don't pretend to know either way, @BunnyBunbunbun, but William certainly minded when others (Burrell, the BBC ...) used his mother to make a quick buck

Of course we've no idea if "Harry to make a documentary" is just more clickbait, but I can't exactly see the suggestion encouraging William to embrace him once again
