Good point. If she's cast in a show, it'll sell tickets. Regardless of why people go, the money will come in just the same. I can see this happening. Is anyone looking to do a new production of An Ideal Husband? 😁

Yes, he could march past at the end of the ceremony with all the other veterans if he wanted to

But I think it's 'too much, too soon' if he was to appear as part of the Royal Family and lay a wreath this year or next

He's caused considerable anguish to the RF and the UK so needs to demonstrate some contrite behaviour for a long period of time before he's allowed such privileges

Harry has caused anguish to the UK? Steady on. That’s a bit hyperbolic.

I have no idea what he has supposedly done to the country?

Outside of these threads and DM readers, there are a lot of people who don’t really care.

I don't have a problem with W or H falling out of night clubs in their early 20s. I did it myself.

I do have a problem with racist comments, not growing out of the drinking/ partying, dropping commitments to attend a movie premiere to tout for work for the wife, all the snide insinuations that then get brushed away, the glorifying drug taking as 'therapy'...

Teenage behaviour in a middle aged man is rather pathetic.

@IcedPurple I can see her booking “serious” acting jobs. Regardless of whether she’s with or without H.

I disagree that she’s not a good actress; she was good in Suits. Is she a great actress? No. But a lot of working actors are good rather than great.

I don’t think there’s a lot of evidence of her creating “a load of off screen drama”.

But the main reason she could book roles: it’s utterly naive to discount how much name recognition plays in casting these days. I could see Meghan getting a limited run West End role and the producers making bank.

Honestly - there is not a snowball’s chance in hell that the brittle, highly sensitive, MM, who bottled accompanying her own DH on his public events at the last moment last month and who declared herself feeling ‘humiliated and sidelined’ after her 45 mins with KC3 will put herself on the London stage day in day out. She doesn’t have the emotional capacity or resilience. She’s not even capable of staying in the UK for 6 months quietly in the countryside to nurture her own tiny DCs into a very different and probably difficult new life.

She doesn’t have the grit - her ego is too fragile for theatre. I could see her holed up in some van on set for some movie tho hiding away and demanding nonsense.

I think it's a common trope used by the H&M fans. Difficult to defend Harry's behaviour? William was just as bad! No, worse!
Maybe William got drunk. He didn't assault anyone, didn't have to be physically restrained and certainly hadn't engaged in drunken strip pool.
Harry has his fans, I don't get it, but we're all different. I draw the line at some of their wilder claims, though!

More importantly, she doesn't have the talent.

Odeline · Yesterday 09:25

IcedPurple · Yesterday 08:33

What's stopping her from doing any of that now? Why would she succeed when 'free of Harry' when she's failed so far?

And do Americans really care about the fact that she's a 'Duchess'? Again, they haven't thus far. I don't see her booking any serious acting jobs either. She's not a good actress and creates a load of off screen drama. Why would anyone want to cast her?

The grandiose and delusional MM hasn’t worked that out yet. She will continue flogging the dead horse, providing the hated media with free content to make them $$$$ whilst making no $$$$ for herself except diminishing her own brand and value with her own words and actions and becoming even more a source of ridicule around the world. Clowns in a circus - no self awareness. If she couldn’t see how hideous and jarring that interview (amongst many interviews she has given before) with the makeup CEO was then there is zero scope or hope for her.

I disagree.

I haven’t kept up with the ins and outs of HAM. Did she give a direct quote that she felt “humiliated and sidelined” or was that someone else alleging she said that?

How do you know she “bottled” coming?

Regardless, doing Royal work and stage acting are v different.

MrMarkhamsFanClub · Yesterday 09:28

MidlyConcerned: there has been no Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Cadet Force since Philip died.
Camellia is Air Commodore-in-Chief of RAF cadets and Anne is Admiral of the Sea Cadet Corps, but nobody for Army cadets.

I could see this as an excellent 'first role' for George or Charlotte in a few years. Harry...err, no thanks.

DandyAF · Yesterday 09:32

GoodnessGraciousMeh · Yesterday 09:23

More importantly, she doesn't have the talent.

But my point is that talent is somewhat irrelevant to being cast if you’re a huge name.

I seriously could see her getting a stage or screen role because of it bringing in bums on seats. If she was in the West End, I can bet at least a few people on this thread would try and see here (even if they wouldn’t admit it) just to have a nose. Because you can’t deny that some people an acute interest in what she does, even if it’s a negative interest.

I was wondering whether George will join the cadets with that in mind. It would fit with the pattern of military service for the heir.

Just thinking that while Harry has talked about wanting Archie to take over Invictus, he's never commented to my knowledge on whether he would want Archie to do military service. Or Lili, of course, but Meghan seems to have reserved Lili for her own interests.

Yes it was in People magazine - her mouth piece.

She announced she was coming to accompany and support PH in a full programme of public events for his trip last month - within days of said announcement she U turned said she wasn’t coming and didn’t support him - probably because the ANL verdict was due and she didn’t want to be personally showered in that shit show.

@MidlyConcerned

I'm not sure many in the military or many ex-military have got any time at all for H after him quietly sitting back and allowing M to pretty much trash their then boss, HMTLQ, in the Oprah interview...FWIW many also are not great fans of HAMS antics at Invictus either.

IMO the MIGs would be playing with fire if they suggested putting H back in uniform.

Edited

I’m 100% sure.

If anyone is under any doubt about what the forces think of H, have a look on forces chat sites.

His wife is equally ‘loved’.

Yes this. Tickets for people who go specifically to criticise will still bring in money!

Plus there's a tradition of American film or TV stars coming to have a go at West End theatre - eg Nicole Kidman, Gillian Anderson

What about Lady Louise? She may go by the lesser title but most people know she could be a HRH Princess Louise if she chose to be ….

You got there before I did! She's the obvious candidate.

I would not be surprised if we see Louise as a working royal within the next 10 years, with particular emphasis on areas her father and grandfather are/were involved in.

Thank you. A considerable tranche of evidence about Harry's boorish, drunken behaviour.

bluegreygreen · Yesterday 09:49

The story from Sussex fans (many of whom are based in the US) is often that stories about Harry were reported while stories about William were kept quiet.

The UK press is not one entity, nor does it work in a similar way to celebrity publications in the US.

A poster who has worked in the media on both sides of the Atlantic once explained it like this:
In the US, celebrity agents will often try to do deals with those publications to keep stories about certain people out of print, allowing other stories in return and usually with promises of access to big stars in their catalogue.
If a UK media organisation has a story about a royal and is offered another story instead, they now have 3 stories: the original story, the replacement story, and the story about the cover-up.

Plus there’s the whole Las Vegas incident when H got naked in a room with a lot of young women and those women were allegedly given NDAs. This is off the top of my head but that’s what I remember.

Teenage behaviour in a middle aged man is rather pathetic.

The trouble is none of them have lived in the real world. Harry has been in the Army but never had a proper job apart from that. Everything has always been done for him. Plus he's not very bright and had a dysfunctional upbringing. He's the worst sort of Hooray Henry.

Good points. It's very obvious that they have little understanding of the UK press, not least that it's not a hive mind, and certainly not controlled by the monarch.

I used to be a defamation lawyer working with or against papers, and I’m aware of a few stories about William that were pulled (as were RF stories not about him).

UK tabloids in particular absolutely would make a deal with a celebrity to run one story instead of a certain other. Eg a kiss and tell by a young woman when the real story was that the male celebrity was gay but didn’t want to be outed.

Newspapers would fight to publish stories of real public interest (ie not necessarily whether a pop star is gay) but a lot got pulled. Defamation law used to be more in favour of the person bringing the claim, and those with money and power would threaten litigation and get a lot of stories quashed.

I am not a Sussex fan nor living in the US.

I would disagree with that Goodness PW worked as a civy pilot for East Anglian Air Ambulance for a couple of years. I don’t believe he was given special treatment and I know there accounts of patients being airlifted and being surprised that the future king was piloting!

I believe it was the first time a future heir had had a civi job.
