Would anyone like to make a prediction of what happens next for Harry and Meghan if they return to the UK?

I don't believe there is any hinting but clearly something is up as it's a sudden change and the Rf only found out last minute. Seeing that, H has a tricky visa situation and it is likely connected to that, also money issues. I can't imagine Meghan loving a return to the UK. She'd have avoided it if she could.

No doubt it’s not straightforward. Bound to be something in it for them/her but I can’t get my head round what on earth she’s THINKING

Livelovebehappy · 24/08/2026 17:45

My thoughts are that they’re obviously coming back here, not through choice, but by necessity. Harry only very recently said he could never see a situation where he would bring his wife and children over to the UK. And I honestly can’t think that their self awareness is so absent to the point that they can’t see how unpopular they are over here, and that their privacy is going to be none existent, because the press will hound them. I think the reason for their return is due to Charles’ health. I suspect Charles is probably not very well at all. So maybe they’re anticipating that this is a temporary move. Their life in the US seems to be idyllic in comparison to what it will become here. All self inflicted of course….

Speakeasy22 · 24/08/2026 17:47

I think that there is an issue with Harry's visa. You cannot admit the drug use that he's written about in Spare and fill in a visa form where you say you have never used drugs without there being consequences. I think any extension to Harry's visa has been quietly denied. Trump doesn't like them. Maybe Trump isn't making a song and dance about it out of respect to Charles. The reasons given for the sudden move back just don't make any sense. It's a big ask for Camilla, William and Kate to forget what's been written and said. Not going to end well...

FFSItsTooHot · 24/08/2026 17:47

I can't see them staying forever. I think after a few years, Meghan will have had enough again and they'll go back to the US.

CrumpetsAndCoffee82 · 24/08/2026 17:51

If I were her I wouldn’t want to come back and I feel like her children would have much happier normal childhoods In America, why are they coming back, do they really need to?

irfgy · 24/08/2026 18:06

I suspect they’ve split. The move back only makes sense if they’ve split. M has a great example from
her own childhood and knows she would get huge grief from the press if she tried to deny Harry access
to his children. She’s set for life financially .

Purely from the children’s perspective, I agree with you. They will have friends and they probably love their sunny home.

Clearly H has an agenda to make sure the children are recognised as royal, which they won’t be in the US. So he wants them to grow up in the toxic trap of the RAF…as he described it. He’s such a pratt.

But like you, I feel for the children being uprooted to fulfill his ambitions.

HelenaWilson · 24/08/2026 18:18

Clearly H has an agenda to make sure the children are recognised as royal,

How will he achieve that? They won't be seen at the big royal events like the Wales children are.

I have no idea how that can happen if the parents aren’t working royals.

But I think that’s what he’s hoping. Harry is not the sharpest knife in the box. Unfortunately I foresee a lot of upset for everyone in this process, including the kids.

Viviennemary · 24/08/2026 18:37

I think it's possible they have agreed to live separate lives. . Meghan knows the only way her children will get proper advantage from being royal is that they live in the UK.

Lyonn · 24/08/2026 18:38

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 24/08/2026 17:23

Would she though?
I suspect that if she were just Kate from London and posted in AIBU about being NC with her BIL for six years but he now expected an invite for himself and his kids (one of whom she's never met) to her annual Christmas party then she'd be told to put her big girl pants on and tell him to FTFO.

Unfortunately for her that’s not her situation. The world is watching but she could spin this to her own advantage - otherwise she could be mullered esp with all her early years childhood development stuff - she just can’t leave her innocent niece and nephew out in the cold at Christmas. Otherwise H&M will spin it. Best to get ahead of these people - like KC3 did in the summer - they need to be painted into a corner and leave feeling ‘humiliated and sidelined’ that’s the parents not the DCs.

There’s enough royal glitter to go round to bolster MMs brand / commercial interests - look at the Tindals and B&E … they and their DCs benefit from the glow.

I'm not in PR but some diplomatic statement along the lines of:

"While W&C welcome H& family back to the UK and wish them well, it will take time to rebuild trust"

Name the problem.

Then just ignore them while they tantrum and provevwhy they can't be trusted.

They will have the benefit of royal adjacency, the children are being raised as Prince and Princess, and an expensive private education will support that. Harry and Meghan need proximity to the Crown for their status and privilege to continue. It must be hard being Royal in a republic, even if others use your titles, and you are announced using them.

Yes, I agree. Being Royal is everything to them, this move will embed that.

They will both actively promote their children as such.

Lyonn · 24/08/2026 19:09

Maybe C&C can take their grandchildren along themselves as H&M are problematic. @Rhiadimiddum

BreakfastClub80 · 24/08/2026 19:13

I think it’s about the kids gaining social heft that will then benefit them. So they want the children to be brought up in aristocratic circles, hopefully mixing with other royals (Eton maybe) and making good use of their prince/princess titles, which they won’t get in the US. They need some time with the King to benefit them socially.

I’m very cynical I’m afraid.

HelenaWilson · 24/08/2026 19:20

That will depend on whether aristocrats and royals want to mix with them.

wordler · 24/08/2026 19:21

Re a potential visa issue, if there really is a problem then Harry is making a huge mistake by leaving the country.

It's always best to fight any kind of visa issue in the country and get it sorted before going abroad. If you fight it in the US courts there's a chance to find a solution / overcome issues especially if you have a good lawyer.

If you leave mid a dispute you are deemed essentially abandoning the visa. It's much harder to fight out of country and you can face a long ban from returning - particularly if the problem is you lied about drug use to an immigration official.

Now of course Harry the prince may get special treatment and the above may not apply to him.

But if we were talking about Harry Jones the ordinary citizen and Meghan Smith their current plan could set up a situation where they fly back to the UK, and after a few months before the children could be considered habitually resident in the UK (compared to their previous resident country where they have lived their whole lives). Meghan decides to pop home with the kids to visit her mother, decides she wants to stay. Harry is then unable to reenter the US because his visa has been cancelled and he has a ban.

This is why people in dual country relationships with kids have to be very careful about where they choose to reside and set up home. Especially if there might be visa issues.

Some may prefer to keep ‘in’ with the RF and not want to get drawn into HAM’s orbit.

This I believe is why John Lennon stayed in the US - he was unlikely to get back in if he left due to historic drug issues (don't know whether that included lying to officials)

You'd always wonder if you could trust them. What would they write about you, or claim in an interview?

It interests me to read that Harry and Meghan are now good friends with Geri and Christian Horner.

Similar location to the rumoured new home?

Also, is a business collaboration forthcoming for Meghan and Geri?

Are we missing something or reading too much into things?
