Can we allow Harry and Meghan a clean sheet

Just that really.

When they come back should we just judge them by their future behaviour, not the past and try to be positive.

After the events of the last few days with Jason Arday it might help the RF if the media and social media allowed them to get on with things in a positive way. Frankly the only person who should be aggrieved is the Princess of Wales and maybe the King but he clearly want peace now what with his illness.

Let’s see if they can be positive and an asset to the UK and the RF.

Meghan must love really Harry because there is no way on God’s Green Earth that I would even consider returning to live in England if I was in her position

Leaving the relaxed Californian lifestyle to come and live in stuffy England with the likes of the heinous Piers ‘ She ghosted me’ Morgan et al

If Harry wants to spend time with his father , no problem . Then he can visit regularly , but for the whole family to move … not a good idea
The Sussexes will be divorced within five years if they return to England .

There are over 50 million people living in England. I'm sure she'd manage to go through life without ever encountering Piers Morgan. The rest of us manage.

Clearly life in California isn't all that 'relaxed' if they're now taking a reverse Freedom Flight. Money must be too tight to mention.

Piers Morgan splits his time between UK and California where he has a large mansion.

Perhaps leaving them in peace and in a way ignoring them should be the best response. Consideration for their children, you do not choose your parents.

I cannot stand them but if they really would just live private lives I’d wish them well.

But I don’t think they can or will - Meghan needs exposure like we need oxygen and in any case the press will hound them. They make money for media outlets.

What I would never forgive is if they did any more interviews. I suspect KC had put them on a promise about that kind of thing!

ThatCyanCat · 20/08/2026 20:05

Is it to get security paid for again? Do you need to be a working royal for that?

newberry · 20/08/2026 20:10

Why is it ok for Catherine to be aggrieved?

The only royals guaranteed round the clock security are the King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales. Most working royals only have security when on official duty, and even then probably armed with tasers rather than guns.

I think we will be hearing about a “ separation” by Christmas! There is definitely a motive behind this and i actually think Harry’s had enough and wants out, and good luck to Meghan removing the kids from this country when he starts separation/divorce proceedings!

noonames · 20/08/2026 20:56

BoredZelda · 20/08/2026 14:59

They did not actually say that. Have you looked it up?

Find me the response from Meghan that said “they were not going to be given titles because of the colour of their skin”.

Here you go, this is from the transcript (I have taken out a bit of back and forth about when the conversations happened and Meghan declining to name names as it would be “damaging” but not altered the sense):

M: But I can give you an honest answer. In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time... so we have in tandem the conversation of 'He won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born.’

O: What?… There is a conversation...hold on.
Hold up. Hold up. Stop right now.

M: There were...there were several conversations about it.

O: About how dark your baby is going to be? Whoa.

M: It was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalised conversations.

O: Because they were concerned that if he were too brown, that that would be a problem? Are you saying that?

M: I wasn't able to follow up with why, but that - if that's the assumption you're making, I think that feels like a pretty safe one.

If there is a separation I don't think Harry will ever instigate it. M has nothing without Royal connections. She wouldn't stay in the UK, she'd go back to the US but what would she do there? Her acting 'career' is over, and she's failed in all her business attempts. I think she'd be very isolated and bored. I think she's isolated and bored already, but on her own she'd be really without a paddle for her canoe.

Exactly.
How anyone can deny that, is extraordinary.

Maybe when they apologise to the British people for calling us racists.

Didn't call me a racist. I don't know them. Neither does my teenage daughter who certainly isn't racist. But there are seemingly a great deal of them popping up these days.

sunandpeonies · 20/08/2026 21:21

Some things are unforgivable and unforgettable. And they’ve crossed that line too many times.
Too many insults and indiscretions.

cornflakecrunchie · 20/08/2026 21:22

Nope. Next question?

BemusedAmerican · 20/08/2026 21:29

@Lampzade Out of curiosity, are you aware that California has to deal with annual wild fires, drought, massive smog from traffic as well as wildfires, and flooding? Also major issues with the homeless and ICE raids? Many people on California are not that relaxed.

you are correct about her having nothing without the royals. I think that’s why she has agreed to move here, because Harry was getting tired of her and their life in America.

Northernladdette · 20/08/2026 22:24

I truly believe they should be left to run their lives in private, nothing would annoy them more.
Oh, and pay for their own security 😳

Difficult when every charity shop has 100 copies of Spare sitting on the book shelf.

Yeah, unread 🤣

Northernladdette · 20/08/2026 22:26

I have a feeling most are read but no one admits to reading it 😆.

(Disclaimer I borrowed it from the library, as I refused to line his pockets, read first 50 or so pages and found it very boring and gave up!)

I think many people have lost the ability to criticise behaviour without making it personal. If you read online comments, some of them are beyond vicious. None of us know these people, we don’t know their intentions, we’re just guessing.

I do think it’s legit to have an issue with observable behaviour though - the interviews, the book (which I read), the comments about the Queen etc. But it’s possible to have an issue with those things without calling either of them names or assuming I know what’s really going on. I don’t know them or what has really happened behind the scenes! I only have the narrative the media gives me…and the media is only interested in clicks.

As others have said, if they’re seeking rehabilitation in the eyes of the public, ‘doing a Camilla’ is going to be the only way. That’ll mean quietly knuckling down, serving without complaint, understanding the royal pecking order and oh no more deals or interviews or books. I cannot see how that’s possible but I do believe everyone should have access to a fresh start if they want to.

WildGarlicSoup · 21/08/2026 10:30

IcedPurple · 20/08/2026 18:54

I hope the UK will welcome them back and forgive whatever 'wrong' they feel H&M did to them personally (which is nothing as far as I am concerned).

Why should the country 'welcome them back'?

Less than 2 months ago Harry was blathering on about how unsafe Britain was for his family. This from a man who thinks nothing of jetting off to actual war zones. Nobody in this country owes these two a damn thing.

I didn't say we 'owe' them anything. Nor did they, AFAIK?

Edited

If you have a toxic relative who has maligned you in print and on the world stage (and this is not the media feeding us a line) you do not owe them a fresh start, though.

The rest of us can afford to be magnanamous and allow the possibility that someone has learned and matured. But those hurt and damaged by HAM have every right to refuse to be part of the fresh start.

Lampzade · 21/08/2026 12:35

I don’t know why some posters are trying to give the impression that the Sussexes practically ‘begged’ to return to the UK and that it was a unilateral decision
Anyone with a modicum of common sense should realise that obviously the ‘powers that be’ approved the decision .
The Monarchy has been in free fall since the Queen died . The current senior royals ‘ can’t cut the mustard’ and that is the truth .
William and Catherine have been called workshy over the years . In addition , they seem like nice enough people but they just don’t have the star power that The Sussexes possess . It really is as simple as that
The Sussexes are desperately needed as far as I and many others are concerned whether people want to admit it or not
The royal reporters / media seemingly frothing at the mouth at the Sussexes return , but everyone and their dog knows that they are possibly thrilled , as they can now afford to pay their mortgages and Tarquin and Eleanor’s school fees on the back of the Sussexes return
As I said in a previous post, I think that Meghan is making a mistake returning to the UK and I said earlier, I predict that the marriage will be over within five years if they return
