What? Methinks you're the stupid one.
I'm perfectly entitled to the opinion that I don't want this eejit living back in this country!
I don't give a stuff what his supposed title is. I don't respect him or the way he's behaved. I look down on him.

Your level of intelligence is obvious from this comment. Not surprised.

BlazenWeights · 23/08/2026 14:03

EvieBB · 22/08/2026 22:55

Exactly. I would never describe myself as a monarchist but after witnessing that hideous Oprah interview where Meghan spouted so many provable lies 😡 (and that eejit wet lettuce Harry allowed her to 🙄) I became much more protective of the Royal Family. Even so, they absolutely cannot stop anyone from having an opinion. @BlazenWeights is clearly lacking in the brain cell department!

Not as much as you. Blundering eejit 😜

And what level of intelligence would that be? Looks like an intelligent reply to me and others. But hey another insult because you can’t form an argument without throwing in an insults. I think you yourself need to carry out some self reflection.

"H is still on the Councillor of State is he not?"

He is still a Counsellor of State but here (shamelessly googled)
Prince Harry remains technically listed as a Counsellor of State by law, but he is practically sidelined from acting for King Charles III. Palace arrangements and the Counsellors of State Act 2022 ensure that only working members of the royal family are called upon for official duties.

Also , I am sure I have read , that rather than removing Harry new Counsellors of State were appointed such that the chances of H ever having to act in the role were effectively nil.

So all it really takes is for trust to be rebuilt H to be back working for Pa.

Nothing that isn't irreversible?

How about a cheese hat? I've seen that mentioned on here 🤷‍♀️

Oh yes, the cheese fans! They're quite funny!

Exactly this. Not removed, but never to be used.

No, I think and hope it would go beyond KC just relenting. The HAMs are not trustworthy or suited to official roles.

There are confidentiality issues to do with national security etc - theyve shown themselves to be blabbermouths and slanderers.

Viviennemary · 23/08/2026 14:36

Newname26 · 23/08/2026 10:12

There is zero change of Meghan ever doing anything for the royals again. Zero, nil, zilch.
She got hussled out one of the garden parties.

Harry is different, he needs to build the trust of KC & PW, first thought.

Yes. Do we know what actually happened at the garden party. I read Charles wanted them to leave and Camilla had a word with them.

bluegreygreen · 23/08/2026 14:41

Asunciondelaflata · 23/08/2026 10:48

As I understand it, KC pays expenses, but not a salary. He gave Harry a £1.5m per year allowance (which continued when they went to California) plus a clothing allowance for Meghan.

Harry was supported by Prince Charles from his personal income derived from the Duchy of Cornwall.

The Sovereign Grant is used (in part) towards expenses for working royals on official duty.

Yes, that's right.
The Bank of Pa has always been very generous to the Sussexes. Hence Meghan's bespoke wardrobe from Givenchy, Dior and Stella McCartney. Some of those outfits were crazy money.

But the Duchy of Cornwall is now William's. Presumably now Charles will have to use his kingly reserves - is it the Duchy of Lancaster? Any transparency on that? I guess not

H is still on the Councillor of State is he not?

Good point @Newname26 and one that shows the downside of not acting quickly for the RF. They should have removed him while he was domiciled outside the UK, which he clearly was in spite of technically still having Frogmore for a lot of that time. Now that reason is defunct. 😔

The Royal Family do not determine who is Counsellor of State - it is determined by statute.

Interestingly, a monarch is not required to have or use CoS, but if they are used who they are is set out in law:

the Counsellors of State shall be the wife or husband of the Sovereign (if the Sovereign is married), and the four persons who, excluding any persons disqualified under this section, are next in the line of succession to the
Crown, or if the number of such persons next in the line of succession is less than four, then all such persons*

In 2022 an additional 2 RF members were added for their lifetimes (Princess Anne and Prince Edward) as there were few appropriate people to act.
It was made clear during the parliamentary discussions leading up to the Act** being passed that in practice a non-working royal would never be called on to act as CoS.

*Regency Act 1937
**Counsellors of State Act 2022

Newname26 · 23/08/2026 15:00

So if H slowly works his way back into being a working Royal, what stops him being CofS?

That 2022 act has been done so its reversible for H (highly unlikely A will ever be a working Royal)

PullTheBricksDown · 23/08/2026 14:48

First, he's not obliged to give Harry anything, especially not ongoing income. Harry has already received generous bequests from family members.

Secondly, it depends what you mean by transparency. The Duchy of Lancaster accounts are presented to Parliament and are a public document (Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall (Accounts) Act 1838.)
However, the income KC3 derives from the Duchy is personal income and he does not have to account for it.
He uses it to supplement the Sovereign Grant for official spending and also for private income.

The Sovereign Grant is dealt with in a similar way as funding to another government department: it is scrutinised by the National Audit Office and the yearly accounts are a public document. (SG Act 2011 pulled it together - previously looked at by several different departments.)

I just don’t think he can work himself back into an official role.

He can’t turn up to an event and push the actual royal aside🤣!

it would be a very official matter which would need more than dad’s say so. I sincerely hope everyone has the sense to say and mean NO HARRY! You’ve cooked your goose, son.

Look up photos of meghans pregnancy bump, there are times its much bigger than two days later, there is also photos with her in red and purple outfit the bump appears at her knees.

Ever heard of an anterior placenta and pregnancy related constipation?

I think bump theorists show a wild lack of knowledge of female anatomy and pregnancy - probably because they spend too long on the internet and not in the company of actual humans.

If any of the non working royals became working royals they could become CofS that are used.

It can only ever work as current non-working royals won’t be asked atm because otherwise if you, for example, ruled out Eugenie as she isn’t a working royal, but then there was a horrendous atrocity and suddenly Beatrice was Queen then Eugenie would be the next CofS. They always build their rules based on the absolute worst case scenario

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 23/08/2026 15:29

I have missed a few pages of thread so sorry if this has already been mentioned but the crop of random Christmas posts that have been popping up here in the last couple of days have got me thinking, whose going to be doing the Christmas morning walk to church this year?

Its a family event rather than a royal one so theres no reason why H&M couldn't go but equally it could be very frosty with the other family members and obviously everyone and their uncle would be scrutinising body language and whatnot.

bluegreygreen · 23/08/2026 15:34

Presumably it depends who is invited to Sandringham for Christmas, and who accepts the invitation ...

I just cannot imagine this! If I’m wrong, I’ll be horrified.

i think the basis on which they’re back as far as KC is concerned is - live a private life quite separate from the RF.

I can’t see them being allowed to join family occasions, never mind official ones. They’ve said and done unforgivable things about KC, Camilla, W and C. Sure, sentimental KC might occasionally meet them privately at say Highgrove, but I’m hoping that that will be as good as it gets!

They may decide to head back to sunny California & spend Christmas with Doria? The kids will really miss their grandmother so maybe this will be their get out card from Sandringham? However I'd imagine if an invitation is extended they will absolutely want to be there?

JustAnotherWhinger · 23/08/2026 15:52

I think Christmas will depend entirely on what the agreement is with Charles and then what kind of agreement he makes with William.

I think there would have to be a Christmas where William agreed to them being there as if W&K went off to spend Christmas with the middletons and H&M went to sandringham they’d basically be writing the papers stories for them.

I agree with you but I definitely think they'll be fever pitch press speculation and I wouldn't be knocked for six if there aren't some leaks from Harry sources in the first few weeks of December about how happily H remembers the family Christmases, how much he was looking forward to Archie and Lili experiencing them and how sad he is at being left out in the cold. Especially after he moved them all this way to be closer to the family and so on.

Having said that, I'd love to be proved wrong.

Hello! Ha thanks for remembering me coming up with HAM. I must admit I did feel a bit of a thrill to see it still being used 6 years later.

Do DM me to tell me who you are if you like. There were lots of us on several threads, many penguin-themed...

Before we were all hounded elsewhere ;)
