Honestly that just wouldn't surprise me. Absolutely no different to people speculating on a babies hair or eye colour.
I wanted my babies to have DH blue eyes, neither have DH blue eyes.

I think this source(aaaargghh- will try to find it - it was from a while ago) said that H’s ginger locks were the main discussion point. The skin thing was very peripheral, so it’s highly ironic.

It may have been Tom Bower.

Didn't Harry himself talk about his ginger genes and the potential impact on his children? Sorry I can't remember which interview, there have been many.

HelenaWilson · 22/08/2026 11:58

I expect it was just a discussion about who the baby would take after, which happens in all families. 'I wonder if it'll have granddad's nose'.

Didn't Harry himself talk about his ginger genes and the potential impact on his children?

And they do both appear to have red hair.

The red haired gene comes out in both the Spencer and Churchill families, so it must go back to whenever it was in the 18th century that the families divided - Winston and at least one of his children had red hair.

Newname26 · 22/08/2026 12:00

Red hair needs to be inherited from both sides, its a regressive gene.

BasiliskStare · 22/08/2026 12:08

I think M's father and half brother both have red (dish) hair.

@DandyAF
i take some of your points but…I do find it just incomprehensible that anyone who’d studied drama and worked as an actress would be lukewarm about the theatre. Yes, she has the interests you mention, but if she has visited shows (what sort of- drama, new plays?) why doesn’t she make more of that publicly? For such a self-publicist, it’s weird. She posts about going for a walk even, so why doesn’t she post about an amazing new plays she’s seen?

And I admit I’m being snooty about M’s acting jobs. I’ve only seen clips of Suits and wasn’t impressed. The other clip I’ve seen is where she gives a man a BJ in his car. Does anyone know of anything else?

I hold up my hands to judging her for her lack of wide cultural interests. I think that’s obligatory for RF members and it was one of the problems she had with the role.

I saw the daytime romantic drama she did. It was generic but bearable and like Suits she was perfectly adequate in an undemanding role.

Yes, he did. He’s so dim he doesn’t realise the irony or the double standards in his comments.

Quite, I remember thinking - hang on, wasn't that a criticism of unnamed members of the RF as reported to Oprah, but he's openly saying the same thing?
Fool.

the80sweregreat · 21/08/2026 08:26

MM will need acting lessons again surely after so long away. It’s ironic because it was reported that William told Harry she’d have to find a job after they got married and it didn’t go down that well apparently ( I remember he said something like this during the Oprah interview).

Wasn’t H supposed to be touting her for voice over roles a while back. Maybe London Transport need a new voice for the Underground.

“Mind the gap between the train and the platform”

”See it, say it. Sorted”

”Stand clear of the closing doors”

I am almost sure that with a bit of practice she will be able to say these with fluency and conviction.

HelenaWilson · 22/08/2026 13:12

Yes, it was at the premier of The Lion King - the event for which H allegedly ditched an engagement with the Royal Marines, of which he was Captain General at the time.

Or she could do the voice for the self scan at Tesco. I am sick of the one that sounds like Rishi Sunak.

Or a voice for a GPS. Turn right at the next light. Proceed .4 miles and then turn left

"Meghan wrote, “If you get a chance to see @gypsybway, you absolutely must."

I haven't once looked at Meghan's social media since she started it back up, I'm but this wasn't hard to fine with a quick google. It probably doesn't meet your strict criteria, but tbh with media and security I can understand why she's not regularly seeing first time plays... if indeed that's the case.

I don't think there's any convincing you but my friend who works at the NT said that Meghan definitely showed interest and was somewhat knowledgable about the theatre. Again, she took that patronage and it ended because they left. You can't judge her on how in interested she was based on a patronage that ran mostly through covid, at a time when it would have been very hard for her and Harry to go to the theatre and she didn't have social media, so she couldn't rave about new plays.

But even if she hates the theatre, which there's no evidence for, that's OK. It would be nice if you're correct and it's obligatory for RF to have wide cultural interests, but that clearly isn't the case. What cultural interests in terms of theatre and ballet etc does Harry for example have?

I watched most of Suits and was a fan of the show for years before Meghan met Harry. You might not have been impressed from clips, but she was fine. She did have charisma on TV. Her acting wasn't amazing nor was it bad BUT she didn't have the type of role to showcase that. She had chemistry with her scene partners of both sexes. It was a big role - size of role, length of gig - comparatively for an actress and that can't be dismissed.

Meghan Markle Shared Rare Photos of Her Night Out on Broadway—and a Closer Look at Her Outfit

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at Gypsy and posted pics with Audra McDonald from her backstage visit.

BunnyBunbunbun · 22/08/2026 15:35

Lol, apparently Meghan's role in The Gentlemen is off because of the "backlash". I'm not sure how much backlash there was to the announcement that she might be joining a show that does not even have a contract for a new season in a role that has not even been created, but if you consider the plotline of The Gentlemen, it seems like someone has been pulling our leg.

The Gentleman is about an aristocrat, played by Theo James, who becomes the Duke of Halstead on his father's death (bypassing his dopehead older brother, Freddie) and discovers a secret weed empire growing on the family estate that his father had cultivated in partnership with a crime family. The new Duke of Halstead continues the crime partnership in order to pay off his brother's debt. Presumably Meghan was going to play a dopey Duchess.

Apparently we are meant to believe that the cancellation all happened in a few hours over the weekend. Does this mean they're not coming back to the UK now?

All the backstage photos give the impression that this was a promotional event arranged by her agency rather than a trip to the theatre because she has an interest in it.

As I said, it would probably won't meet the criteria CC (or you) have. So I won't bother doing more googling when neither of you had clearly done anyway in the first place before making assertions Grin

If you read the article, Meghan was gushing over Audra McDonald. I find that genuine, because... Audra McDonald. I won't accept that Meghan didn't have an interest in seeing her perform, even if it was it a promotional event (highly possible). It's just downright silly to make out that Meghan has no interest in theatre when she did a degree in it. You can't do a degree in theatre studies without having some interest.

Right. And just by coincidence, Meghan and Audra McDonald just happen to both be represented by the same talent agency, WME.

My point was, two things can be true at once.

I find it very hard to believe that Meghan wouldn't want to watch and meet Audra McDonald. Sort of like watching the Beyonce of Broadway. Again, she has a degree in theatre. She chose to study that at age 18. That's the sign of a genuine interest, however large. If you just want to be famous on TV there's easier routes and ways.

AudraMcDonald and Gypsy didn't need the promotion from Meghan, the show was doing very well well, but the promotion from her wouldn't help. Yes it clearly was arranged by her talent agency, as most visits from big names will be. My good friend is a theatre producer working mostly on Broadway and says that's common.

DandyAF · 22/08/2026 16:17

Also, I've just remembered. I used to read her blog The Tig a bit as I was a fan of Suits before she met Harry. I'm pretty sure that Meghan mentioned theatre, and possibly even ballet in that.

The Tig was definitely quite 'cultured', more than you'd expect from an American actress on that type of show. And definitely pretentious at times.

Full of warmth, love and praise for her dad, as well.

This makes sense - but why then didn't she do more when patron of the National Theatre? What a wasted opportunity that was.

I can just about believe she might not have gone to the theatre much with Harry. He doesn't seem like someone who'd enjoy it; probably not even The Snail and The Whale on stage would have kept his interest.
