Much more to this than meets the eye IMO.

I'm catching up on all the comments so apologies if this has been said but while I think C3 has been subbing their lifestyle for years I also think he may now be staring down the barrel at some stonking both recently acquired and longer standing undisclosed bills and debts and if so I don't think it'll be long before he's looking for ways to off-load them onto the public along with unconscionable security costs which if / when discovered would go down like a cup of cold sick.

I also wonder if there's as yet undisclosed trouble with the Archewell grift added into the mix.

I shall be watching with interest.

I think this has many many bits that together it makes more sense for them to be in the UK.

But it wouldn't surprise me if C3 has been subbing them either

Yep the international name recognition or high level ranking is vital.

I could see them possibly choosing Westminster for both of them, with boarding from 13+

But I think Meghan will be intent on Archie going to Eton, what's good for the goose etc.

For Lily I'd say Wycombe Abbey.

Then to a Ivy League university in the US.

All dependent on academics or special royal dispensation. But above is what I think Meghan's ideal will be.

Unless they are blessed with more brains than the rest of the family, Westminster seems an unlikely goal.

You mean the parents pay for security or the school? I have no idea. I wouldn't have thought a school would like that as it's quite disruptive.

The parents will be paying!

Hence the caveat at the bottom, which certainly also applies to Wycombe Abbey, if not also Eton.

As I said though, I would bet that Eton is the top choice for Archie.

I would imagine there are multiple ways in which, if one had the resources to undertake such an action, to arrange for the murder of someone which didn't leave so many variables up in the air as was the case of the night of her death. I mean if she'd worn a seatbelt that "murder" plot would have been thwarted.

Honestly, I pity you if you really believe this is even remotely feasible.

Save your pity.
The car in which she died was very predictably the only one available. A theory falls down when it can’t explain something.

The academic aspect is important because while entry requirements might be relaxed for some actual royals (I think W did pass the Eton exam but H didn’t) would that necessarily apply to L and A?

I genuinely don't know. I could see it potentially happing at some schools. Which is why I put both things.

Regardless of what one thinks of Meghan, it does seem that she was pretty academic. She got into a v good university. She'll value academics more than Harry.

I don't think it'll be surprising if her children to do pretty well academically, especially as they'll have access to a lot of tutoring.

Yes, Archie to Eton, Lilibet to... Marlborough, do we think?

Cheltenham ladies college, or Roedean. Or did Princess Anne go to Benenden?

Theunamedcat · 20/08/2026 17:29

All this talk of archie and Eton they arnt promoting archie maybe they have reasons why? Its all lilibet even when pictures surface of archie his dad had a girl dad tshirt on ffs

Adored until the press identify one of them as the new public enemy number 1 and that child gets to be the royal pariah of their generation, but this time in a world where everyone carries a camera and can share images instantly.

Maybe I have been blinded by the PR, but I do think William and particularly Catherine seem suited to their jobs, and I love the glamour and the pageantry of Royalty.

However, the institution is unavoidably toxic.

You can see it already happening.

George is being painted and stoic and reliable, a safe pair of hands.

Charlotte is being forced into the role of Princess Anne, and we’re being told already that she’s going to be a great source of support to George and she’s got a good head of our shoulders.

And poor Louis, from the beginning, is the naughty, cheeky child, who will inevitably become the ‘wild child’ of his generation, and he’ll be the one whose drunken photos and silly mistakes hit the press, whilst the other two are protected.

It’s as old as time and it’s clear to see the press preparing the public to believe that these are their characteristics well before anyone can possibly know what they’ll be like as adults.

Yes, although she would have far preferred Gordonstoun, which sadly wasn't mixed at the time

Theatre and International
relations though? Not dissing them, I’m sure they are fine courses but they don’t sound like academically challenging disciplines. MM is articulate so I’m not surprised she was able to talk her way into a decent university but we haven’t seen evidence of her being particularly academic.

NOT William, I meant George!

How did play dates & parties work? Were the whole class invited or just the inner circle?

PlumCat23 · 20/08/2026 18:03

DandyAF · 20/08/2026 16:15

Oh definitely monetised, even if indirectly.

There is so much more cache for Meghan if her children are British Royals actually in Britain, as Americans for example are likely to think they follow royal protocol and have royal privileges even if that isn't true.

Going to a British private school has a certain social capital about it, particularly for Americans. If, as I suggested above, they want Archie to go to Eton in the future, that has huge name recognition that no real high school in the States has.

I think Archie is 7, so he is at the age to go to a prep school. The more I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if they're setting him up to go to Eton or similar in the future and one of the benefits of moving now is getting him in the public school system.

Agree with this completely @DandyAF , there most definitely social capital attached to an English boarding school education & also she will want them having the correct British accent for when they're older. They can't be bone fide British royals with a californian drawl...

PlumCat23 · 20/08/2026 18:06

viques · 20/08/2026 16:54

Marlborough is very much Middleton territory! There are other schools for girls that are not tainted by association. I don't think H would choose Eton either, he struggled there so maybe they will choose somewhere less academic but mixed sex for them.

In fairness Meghan was very academic & went to a very good US college so there is some for L&A!

CoffeeCantata · 20/08/2026 18:08

Hardware252525252525 · 20/08/2026 17:31

They both passed.

Did they? Genuinely thought otherwise.

Harry certainly struggled academically there and later failed some of his services exams. I thought Eton allowed him in for pastoral reasons (to be with W and near to Granny at Windsor) but happy to be corrected if that’s wrong.

I think he takes after his famously unacademic mum.

I definitely thought about the accent thing too.

I'm sure its a whole range of things that is making them move.

Money, opportunities, family links, opportunities for the kids.

Was she? I know she went to private school and then to the equivalent i guess of a red brick Russell Group university, but not quite Ivy League?

I have to say I’ve never seen much evidence of intellectual interests from her.

caringcarer · 20/08/2026 18:15

Well after years of claiming living in the UK is unsafe for his wife and DC and losing the case against getting free protection, Harry will have to pay for private protection himself if he insists upon having it. He can easily afford school fees and protection after selling out his brother with Spare. He won't be getting royal accommodation but I bet it will piss William and Catherine off if he is invited by King Charles to attend family events.

I remember reading she was very much into English, drama & social activism.
She went to either northeastern or northwestern I think, while not Ivy League still very well regarded.
Her dad paid for her Catholic private school education & look at the way she thanked him...

Yes, she didn't really pursue drama did she? The late Queen made the mistake of giving her the patronage of the National Theatre, mistakenly believing she had an interest in plays!
Not that kind of actress.

I am certain that an Art teacher at Eton was disciplined for not 'helping' Harry enough with his Art coursework. I'm sure the teacher said she gave all students the same support but it wouldn't be fair if she more or less did the coursework for students. I know Harry did not get high grades at A level. He got a B in art after dubious support and a D in Geography..He could only manage 2 A levels.

Badvocthebad · 20/08/2026 18:27

I suspect that after the legal loss to ANL and ££££ associated costs that:
There are going to be investigations into the charitable tax affairs of Invictus, Archewell and Sentebale which will mean further large settlements so it doesn't see a courtroom.
Their Montecito Mansion will struggle to sell and they'll lose $$$ on that.
They have no way to grift any further without personal access to the RF and they need to monetise those kids, and so a British elite education is necessary (plus, M will want her dc to have what the Wales children will have)
What a mess.
