I think this may be part of a v long-term potential separation plan. I think they are very much together for the public brand.

I wonder if it will lead to the children going to boarding school in the UK when older, like Archie to Eton. And then university in the US.

Baital · 20/08/2026 14:18

I think both children are being brought up largely by nannies.

Based on no inside info, just the public impression of H&M both being very self centred, and their children seeming to be props to them rather than people

I would imagine there are multiple ways in which, if one had the resources to undertake such an action, to arrange for the murder of someone which didn't leave so many variables up in the air as was the case of the night of her death. I mean if she'd worn a seatbelt that "murder" plot would have been thwarted.

Honestly, I pity you if you really believe this is even remotely feasible.

My understanding is that she had dumped her Scotland Yard security and was relying on Dodi Fayed - that’s what caused her death - if she still had Scotland Yard security the driver would not have been drunk and speeding or at least be skilled at driving at speed - would have been more informed about risks - and wouldn’t have tried to get then other back door

Is that what happened?

The house is worth nothing. It’s a tear down. But I do think the land will be worth a lot of money. Probably more than what they paid.

The idea that they are keeping the house in California while also having a house in UK and Portugal is laughable. They are clearly in financial trouble and I do belive it will be up for sale soon

Which is crazy…when you think Megs whole business is based around that house. The kids while lives are based around that house- they never leave. So to rip their kids away from that. None of this is adding up.

How do you know they never leave? They probs go to preschool, for one!

GoodnessGraciousMeh · 20/08/2026 14:34

I think its very odd to move house literally a couple of weeks if that before the kids start new schools. It's going to be a massive shock for those kids. Everything they know will be upended apart from their parents who don't seem at all hands on.

Newname26 · 20/08/2026 14:36

PlumCat23 · 20/08/2026 13:53

I know regarding photos but what about leaks to the press about how they are on the school run etc?

The press in the UK won't publish that sort of stuff. Its part of an agreement with the RF.
The RF know they need the press, and the press need them but they also want the kids to be able to be kids without press interference.
Thats why the press get the agreed back to school photos and the kids birthday photos.

It also doesn't look good on other 'well to do' parents, to sell tales to the press, who would trust them not to tell tales about them?

But will that extend to Ham? They have such a turbulent relationship with the press

You can picture the conversation though, just back from holiday.
Would you like to live in England with big estates and be able to see Uncle Charles and play where Daddy did. And be able to visit Grandpa...
But what about my cuddly toys....oh yes yes of course fluffy bunny can come.

I be you could talk your kids into going to live where they've just holiday'd in 10mins

SirChenjins · 20/08/2026 13:01

I agree - can you imagine the drama they will create, and the one-upmanship of the parties?!

And of course the crowds of photographers that will inevitably follow her doing the school run - which was one of the many things that put her off ever returning to the UK Hmm

She has been dying for an opportunity to monetise those poor children since they were born. All those curated but back of head photos of them metaphorically running through sun drenched meadows/dancing on the sand will, she hopes have created an audience for more pay per view insights into their little lives. She has probably been in touch with the Britains Got Talent team already.

They juggle , they sing , their grandads a king!

Yes, it also covered Louise and James as monarchs Grandchildren then Neice / Nephew.

Nobody hears about any daft stuff they have done, got drunk with pals or whatever. Its not just privacy around school - who's interested if Charlotte didn't do her homework. Its about general childhood / adolescent privacy that covers them while they are in full-time education inc Uni.

Jane379 · 20/08/2026 14:49

AtIusvue · 20/08/2026 09:08

Also the ONE close family member that the children have any sort of relationship with…..is Doria!

Now they are removing their kids from the one family member that’s actually been in their lives….to be closer to a great uncle that they’ve met once?

It’s clear Doria won’t be moving. So why on earth would they do that to their kids!

None of this is making sense. it must be the visa/ them splitting/ money issues.

No-one will accept they are moving to be closer to a family that they aren’t close to….leaving behind their grandmother who is actually involved in their children’s lives.

'Now they are removing their kids from the one family member that’s actually been in their lives….to be closer to a great uncle that they’ve met once?'

  • Meghan presumably is OK with the UK really. Harry probably prefers to be here, I suspect that's the main reason. Yes, it is hard they're moving away from their grandmother but sometimes moves do happen when kids are young. Archie is 7, Lilibet younger. Hopefully they will stay put from now on.

I don't think you can be sure it will extend to Ham, because Ham would have to agree to their part in it and allow back to school photos.

They haven't to date showed any photos of their kids' faces (AFAIK) so it's questionable whether they would be willing to do so. I expect they may be... for money. Which wasn't what the original RF/media deal re schools was about.

BasiliskStare · 20/08/2026 15:05

@DandyAF I don't think H&M would have to allow back to school photos - there is no need , they are private citizens. I don't think Sophie and Edward did it with their two nor Zara ( maybe wrong) . The only reason W&C do it with theirs is that their children are of direct constitutional importance ( George obviously the most ) . HAM's are not.

Hi! I remember you when I used to be on the Royal Family threads 6 years ago!

No I don't think H&M would have to allow back to school photos either, that was kind of my point that I didn't express very well - I don't think they'd come under the same agreement that covered Harry as a child and William's children now. It's whether Meghan and Harry would get papped on the school run though, albeit with their children's faces blurred out in any publicly posted photos.

sunandpeonies · 20/08/2026 15:18

Have they sold the Montecito house?
Maybe it’s not a permanent move? Just short term to test the water…which will be icy cold.🥶

WildWindySeascape · 20/08/2026 15:19

This is so unexpected! My theories behind the move (all conjecture) are:

  1. King Charles is very ill; or
  2. Harry or Meghan has been awarded a lucrative opportunity which requires a UK base; or
  3. Harry and Meghan are preparing to separate- but surely from Meghan’s perspective that would mean doing everything to keep the children in the US? or
  4. They can’t afford their lifestyle and believe closer proximity to the King will benefit them financially and help build their profiles to match a super wealthy lifestyle.

I can’t imagine why else they would want to leave Montecito which looks fantastic to start again in the UK where almost the entire country hates them.

No idea. Rumours are it's already on the market, but who knows?

But H has a few million to find for lost legal cases.

I really hope the press leave them alone this time, and Meghan and Harry stop trying to court attention. I’m sick of all the drama.

We never had back to school photos from the Edinburghs. But like Harry's kids they are lower down the pecking order.

There have been occasional photos of Kate on her way back from the school run so there likely could be photos of Harry or Meghan doing the same.

The British press haven’t printed photos of the Sussex kids before now, when there will have been opportunity to do so. They tread very carefully with photos of all the kids
