I wonder how the Americans will view Meghan moving back to give the kids a British education? Of all the reasons this seems like the biggest kicker to the US.

Also can we stop calling them broke. Broke people can’t afford two kids at private school. They are massively over privileged grifters, relying on reputation and looks.

We don't know yet if they are going to private schools.. if they are going to say the Codswolds the state schools there will be incredible.

Whinge · 20/08/2026 07:58

NetZeroZealot · 20/08/2026 07:53

He needs to go to a proper prep school

I admit to having very little knowledge of prep schools, but surely you can start from reception age?

If they want a British education why not move before he started school?

Beachlover1993 · 20/08/2026 07:59

Maybe concerns over security in the US , the cost must be enormous

Would a state school even be able to implement the level of security they will need?

AlwaysRightISwear · 20/08/2026 08:01

Vanishingly unlikely they will go to state schools.

Incredulous, more like.

PinkMagpie · 20/08/2026 08:04

Everything they do is so chaotic. They give Charles a couple of days notice that they’re moving back. This is just the latest crazy handbrake turn in the ongoing shit show that is those two

PinkMagpie · 20/08/2026 08:05

Poor Catherine, I’m sure she preferred having them an ocean away

Of course they are going to private schools.

Why would Cotswold state schools be incredible?

2026letsgo · 20/08/2026 08:10

Nothing indicates they have any interest in living a “normal” life. Why would they want to send their titled children to a state school.

I feel sorry for Auntie Catherine. What a flipping nightmare having to be polite to HAM when her nieces and nephew come over, after all they’ve said and done.

Can they afford private schools? The Codswolds is known for having excellent state schools. How many million is Harry going to lose in legal fees, they have a 10 million mortgage on their Californian home even the interest alone on that will be eye watering..

They're returning the way they left. Absolutely chaotic lifestyle with no thought or planning, or intelligence involved. They are a couple driven by emotional impulses and a need for constant attention.

It’s by no means a given that H&M will be paying their children’s private schools fees.

They are over here for a reason and it’s not for the weather or the surf 🏄‍♂️ (and she doesn’t like her in laws) so it only really leaves 💰💰 (lack of)

The BBC said just outside London. Not the Cotswolds.

SirChenjins · 20/08/2026 08:14

Article on the BBC news site is suggesting it's to spend more time with Uncle Charles and his (equally chaotic) family. Wonder how long it will be before there's a rift there too.

ilovepuppies2019 · 20/08/2026 05:49

Is Doria coming as well? She seems to be their primary means of babysitting and a pretty key support in their lives

She'd need to apply for immigration status.

Just as Harry needed to for the states. I do wonder if something has gone wrong with his immigration status I don't think he was ever given American citizenship.

Exactly. Their poor children have probably grown up hearing all about how unsafe the UK is, and now suddenly they're moving there. Having to leave behind friends, schools and the only country they've ever known. I'm usually one to believe that there's a lot of planning that happens behind closed doors, but if the king only found out this past weekend, it does seem to have happened incredibly quickly.

I wonder how a school would even have time to prepare for the 2 children to attend, as surely there are extra safety protocols that will take time to implement?

Quite.

Last year, after losing his legal challenge over his security in the UK, Harry told the BBC: "I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point”.

In her article in The Cut a couple of years ago Meghan declared she was a “strong and good parent protecting my child” because she would not send Archie to school in the UK - because she’d never be able to do school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call with a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures (This is clearly complete rubbish, but Meghan said it in writing).

I wonder what could have changed….?

Presumably the kids could now stay in England in the event of a future divorce?

PlumCat23 · 20/08/2026 07:27

I wonder did Harry issue Megs an ultimatum? Movement to the UK or it's all over?

I think it's more likely that they just can't bear Kate & William's popularity and credibility on the world stage and want back into the Royal Family.

Newname26 · 20/08/2026 08:24

SirChenjins · 20/08/2026 07:06

Same. They're not coming here because they've suddenly had an epiphany and decided that the UK is a great place to live and they want to build bridges with the RF. Someone has shown them a wad of dollars.

They aren't making money in the US.
Being Royal is their only selling point, except the Royals have made sure they aren't trading using them.

I think they want back in with the RF but Charles clearly still cares and loves them, but really William is running the show, has been too hurt and doesn't trust them.

Yes we can and have done so based on what has come out of the mouths and actions of these two twats.

That left hand photo is a fascinating study. Archie grabbing his dad enthusiastically. Lillibet leaning back from her mother, tilting her head down to avoid eye contact and having to be held in the pose by her mother's grip on her hands. I'm always surprised they released that one.

I thought the body language was M giving L a telling off for something.

I agree - they're not making the sort of money they needed to make to sustain their Montecito lifestyle in the US. Someone has offered them a big pot of money here - time will show us what that is. No doubt they'll fall out with that person in time though, and they'll be off on the next leg of their privacy tour.
