The royal family

Demographic(s) which determinedly support H&M no matter what

I am bewildered that anyone can support H&M in light of all their shenanigans.

There is no need to base an opinion on what others write about them, these two show who they are with their own words and actions.

Who are the determined supporters and why would anyone close their eyes to the (inconvenient) truth to continue to fit a preferred narrative?

It reminds me of other scenarios where fans of celebrity figures insist their idol is wonderful despite all evidence to the contrary.

Is it sex, age, race, location? Is it an inability to change their mind after an initially favourable judgement was made?

I wonder what it is that unites die hard H&M supporters?

From what I can see there is a good reason this happens.

Try to view it like two rival football clubs and it will make more sense.

I hate football & don’t watch it 😆

lovingthebeachlife · 17/08/2026 17:00

But why does there have to be rival sides?

Whats your opinion on Prince Andrew OP? Surely he's done much worse than H& M but gets it a lot easier than them. I think the real reason people dislike H& M so much is because you think they turned their backs.

Edited

It’s not that complicated. They routinely break rules that were ground into most of us like:
-Don't speak ill of your family in public
-Respect your parents
-If you are in any way privileged don’t openly complain
-Focus on others rather than yourself

It disturbs people who obey the rules themselves seeing two people so openly flaunt them. Worse that they still get so many rewards while doing so.

I’ve been called Sussex Squad because I said I liked some of Meg’s clothes 🤷🏻‍♀️

As I said I find the whole thing very odd, in real life I think most of us can see good & bad in famous people, as pp said no one is perfect. But on here any thread seems to descend into an argument and posters must be one side or the other.

I find that hard to believe! Meghan's clothes are often discussed, without criticism of the posters! Two threads running at the moment, that I can see.

The same reason there has to be football. It’s a pastime and a distraction from real life.

I think of a Royalist as someone who owns multiple tea sets with images of the Royal family on each piece. 😁

Ah, well then that IS a tiny demographic!

lovingthebeachlife · 17/08/2026 17:03

I favour the Scandi approach too

Plus images of Diana in a heart shaped frame and a picture of Camilla on a dart board.
Plus a picture of Harry and Meghan on their wedding day.

@MadeInGrimsby why would I make it up? It was some time ago

The Scandi monarchs lead very expensive lifestyles! Have you seen their palaces? How often they wear tiaras and other jewellery?
Very lavish, if that's your thing.

Right.
So you were called Sussex Squaddie for a mild remark about Meghan's clothes?
Ok

I thought a Royalist was just someone who
supports the current RF, didn’t know crockery had to be involved!

But is this any different to the Beyhive or Swifties (are they called that?) There has always been die hard fans for people in the public eye. I remember some of my friends were devastated about Take That & cried for day. I liked them but wasn’t particularly bothered.

I confess I don’t know anything about those fan groups but the SS are extreme. I don’t just mean obsessed and keen - it’s a matter of record that their activities have been near-criminal at times, harrrassing people and conducting SM campaigns to destroy them.

The SS aren’t just very adoring fans - they’re organised and threatening.

Yes and on the Sussex side there is cookware and flower sprinkles and tshirts and zoom calls.

I would say you’re right but my point is that just as the H and M fans range from SS down to mild admirers,so we also need to recognise that royalists include a huge spectrum of opinion and not characterise them all as obsessive tea-pot collectors.

lovingthebeachlife · 17/08/2026 17:10

@MadeInGrimsbyI said I enjoyed her fashion for the most part & would miss that element when she “left”. I had also said previously in the thread that I didn’t think H&M were terrible or similar because I don’t think that.

You don’t have to believe me though.

lovingthebeachlife · 17/08/2026 17:11

@CoffeeCantataOh yes I would agree, there will be plenty of “Royalists” who wouldn't dream of queuing up to wave or buy a tea towel.

Ok. So more than her clothes, then.

Yes, I think that's fair enough.

lovingthebeachlife · 17/08/2026 17:12

Either opinion doesn’t make me belong to a squad though but I’m not here to argue, it’s boring.

Nor portray Diana as a latter day Saint.

I understand Oprah has taken down that notorious interview, allegedly because she was embarrassed to find that most of what was said in it was later very easily shown to be er...shall we be generous and say...misunderstandings and 'mistakes' by H & M.

Obviously I didn't watch her performance ofnOW but I've seen snippets and Markle's sense of timing showed her acting training, the little pauses, the lowered voice etc etc, it should have been up for an award. However what really shocked me most was OW's reactions, her feigned horror and her total lack of questionning, I know she wanted the ratings etc and is not what she was but any good interviewer would have been all over the blatent lies.

I favour getting the jewels out, better than hiding them away in a safe!

Me too. The Scandi families certainly give them an airing
