Was I the only one that felt a little badly for the MN team member who tried to get our input in order to help build a guide for this forum recently? That didn’t go as planned!

Am in the only one who laughed about Justine’s “The Royal family forum
is deranged” comment and can take it in stride? That thread was definitely an example!

I am proposing we try again and help crowd source a guide. I just ask that we don’t be so RFF, and have a sense of humor while we do so. I’ll paste my draft attempt below. Everyone is welcome to contribute however they like.

This is a sub forum where many people post regularly so it is natural that people get to know each other.

This is the same all over MN, despite aligning with much of what they say I don't understand the Blue Stocking Pub, or their obsession with rodents.
I do skim it sometimes and have posted once on something I did understand but I don't go and try and change the gerbils to guinea pigs or the pub to a wine bar.

I see it the same here, if you want to interesting, multi-perspective discussion start a thread and people interested in that will reply.

But don't try to completely change the topic and not be seen as a derailer.

I couldn’t abide the gifs at first but I was clearly in a minority so I’m just trying to go with the flow.

I don’t believe in all these odd conspiracy theories about secret groups or such , it’s really quite simple, after posting beside each other and sharing similar opinions or humour over the years obviously there will be a certain amount of familiarity ( this is just as relevant for either side of the opinion) , do I think there is some magical claxon calling supporters? , no , not for those who criticise or those who don’t.
as a recent example ( apologies @simpsonthecat, on bringing you in but I’m not good at the vague terms) , on another thread a post of mine that was a reply to Simpson was deleted many hours later, not long after her post I was replying to was also deleted! , neither post was against guidelines and ( in my view) were just the usual ribbing, now if I believed in these things I could wonder, however my gut feeling is that it simply doesn’t feel like Simpson reported me , I don’t believe that , so more likely somebody else obviously did , then equally someone else must have reported her post 🤷‍♀️ , these things just happen, there are hundreds of lurkers who don’t post , none of us can know.

I couldn’t do gifs for yonks because the app simply didn’t support them! , I like them because sometimes they convey a certain joke or humour that text alone cannot, now onto a more important question….do you autumn remember hong kong phooey? , because I loved it as a child but apparently my Scottish dh doesn’t and hardly anyone else does either!!! 😢

I vaguely know the name ‘Hong Kong Phooey’ but I have never watched it! DP says he loved it.

Generally speaking whilst I might find a gif funny I rarely understand how it relates to the topic of discussion. I am obviously not a visual person.

Sometimes being funny is all they are for! , I doubt you are missing anything Mrsleon.

At one point a few years ago there did seem to be a lot of people who would come into a thread, post near identical comments and then leave. I wondered if that was coordinated. I also wondered about groups chatting about this forum in other places, simply because that definitely happened in another discussion forum I was part of. Happy to be wrong though.

I always look for the subtext!

Well !! , I have discovered that on Reddit there is a place called mn trolls and …yes they discuss posters on here!! , I’m mentioned in very (un) flattering terms! 😁 …I’m a man …I’m really Jeff goldblum ….im Camilla…I’m an unspecified royal….., I won’t reveal other named posters but it was slightly surreal to say the least!! 🤣

Mine are never that deep normally!

Who knew Camilla and Jeff were the same person, although come to think of it I've never seen them in the same room.

Which is why looking for subtext fails!
