Unofficial Draft Guide to RFF

MrsStarkey · 29/07/2026 20:26

Was I the only one that felt a little badly for the MN team member who tried to get our input in order to help build a guide for this forum recently? That didn’t go as planned!

Am in the only one who laughed about Justine’s “The Royal family forum
is deranged” comment and can take it in stride? That thread was definitely an example!

I am proposing we try again and help crowd source a guide. I just ask that we don’t be so RFF, and have a sense of humor while we do so. I’ll paste my draft attempt below. Everyone is welcome to contribute however they like.

What is a Poundland mn forum ?

I could actually link you to the ones I referred to on MN.

Yes I would be very interested to see the link to the Poundland mumsnet forum, can you link please @threesocksmorgan cheers

sadly mn hq don't really moderate this board. if only they did.

Are you saying MN doesn't moderate the RF Board ? I think they do. I've seen deletions.

They do moderate (there is an example of it on here at the top of page 12) but you do need to report it otherwise they won’t be aware. 🤷‍♀️
Mod decisions can be questionable though.

I don’t think it exists now. This was a while back

Perhaps you should work on your reading comprehension.

Why so defensive?

MrsLeonFarrell · 05/08/2026 17:02

Waitingfortheotherfeather · 05/08/2026 13:18

Thank you MrsLeonFarrell the encouragement is genuinely appreciated .

I have been here long enough to see two regular Republican posters chased off the board. I name change regularly partly for this reason.

I am afraid that some posters are being very disingenuous when they pretend to not understand how this happens.

And speaking as a Republican, I agree with you totally about the “Where’s Kate?” threads which were horrible. Everyone should have a right to privacy for medical matters and I said so at the time. I said the same about comments referring to Meghan’s pregnancies which were unacceptable too imho.

Can I just make the general point that you can be a Republican and not have anything against the RF as individuals who, like the rest of us, have not had much choice in to which family they were born, so it gets a bit wearisome if you post anything positive or sympathetic about them and you are then accused of “not being a proper Republican”!

Even those that marry in cannot truly experience what it’s really like until they do and all of the pressure of the press intrusion that goes along with it that must change your fundamental experience of trust and friendship.

Republicanism to my mind, isn’t about baiting the individuals involved, it’s about changing a system. In fact I feel sorry for a lot of the royals (except AMW and even he was abused as a child) bc I think they have to have a very strong moral code and fierce intelligence not to be corrupted by the wealth and privilege that surrounds them.

You have reminded me that at least one poster whose name I recognised and whose posts I enjoyed is no longer here. I didn't think they'd been chased off but since I am not here all the time I maybe shouldn't have spoken in absolutes. It may have happened and I just wasn't around for it.

I agree about Meghan's pregnancies too, the lies told are horrible and shouldn't be allowed to be continued repeated on a forum like this. But I suppose moderators would argue about free speech.

I too would hate to be royal, mostly because I haven't got a strong bladder but the attention and lies must be so difficult to deal with. Whilst I remain a constitutional monarchist I believe there needs to be reform of the system and the establishment that flows from it.

BemusedAmerican · 05/08/2026 17:10

I'm confused. We had at least one thread after " Entitled" came out. I actually bought the book, watched a number of Lownie interviews, and posted in threads. I'm not happy that the US hasn't followed up on the Epstein info yet is going after Dr. Fauci. Most posters hate AMW, so that is one area where everyone agrees.

The cheese discussion was genuinely about cheese. If I recall correctly, it was during all the Where's Kate craziness and people wanted a light-hearted thread. It was RF related because some posted that Charles brought together cheese makers to revitalize the industry. Since I'm now seeing cheese from the UK in my admittedly upscale bodegas then it seems to have worked.

I have never understood why people seem to think talking about cheese is some kind of secret code word. Sometimes cheese is just cheese.

I've also been targeted directly by a few people but I ignored them.

I would like to point out that I live in NYC, and we provide NYPD protection to H & M when they visit my city. So yes, MY local tax dollars are spent on them.

Being challenged on your post is not the same as being driven off, it’s funny that the posters who complain about being “driven off” are among the most regular posters on this board, go figure 🤷🏻‍♀️

I want to know how I get to join the cabal that decides what others can and cannot post.

I believe that cabal is similar to Fight Club.

Totally agree with you and also about bladder issues 😀 ; I don’t know how some of the more senior, or heavily pregnant, members of the RF manage it!

Joking apart, it’s good to be able to discover common ground MrsLeonFarrell, thank you.

jeffgoldblum · 05/08/2026 17:29

@MrsStarkey, unfortunately your light hearted, jokey thread seems to have become a tad humourless! , apologies but I will return when it’s back on track , personally I find walls of text unreadable and distract from a thread’s momentum.

I like long posts. Especially when there are paragraphs! They are the best because a long post has something to really get some understanding about a view. Much better than endless irrelevant gifs that make no sense (to me, anyway!) and 'in jokes' that mean nothing and certainly don't add to a discussion.

Reported for being the exact kind of goady personal attack some of us expect from posters on the RF board when they have no argument.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 05/08/2026 17:51

Whether you mean it this way or not, it could be construed as trying to shut conversation down.

The only one doing this is you, consistently complaining and at great length on this very thread at how people choose to post, you complain about people being rude, using gifs, being “driven off the board” and accusing posters of being trolls so it certainly isn’t @jeffgoldblum who is doing any bullying on this thread.

Disgraceful is it, accusing not only “the usual suspects” of being trolls but now saying @jeffgoldblum is a bully.

adragoncalledaudrey · 05/08/2026 17:54

I’m intrigued and a touch bemused.

For people who are not acquainted with the intricacies of the RF board, how are we supposed to tell the difference between those who are ‘chased off the thread’, those who leave because they have no further argument after posting about other people in order to deflect or derail and those who just old-fashioned flounce?

I have not seen the first example but I have seen the latter.

I though MN was supposed to be robust?

Floouncers are readily identified by their announcement that they are leaving before they leave.

The others are a grey area and it probably depends on whether you are left or leaving.

(This post is meant to be sort of funny)

adragoncalledaudrey · 05/08/2026 18:00

Ah now. That’s a shame. Alluding to someone behaving ‘like’ a bully and shutting down conversation?

That tells me one thing and it isn’t saying it is ‘like’ anything.

It sounds personal - however carefully it is worded - and unfair.

Firvthevrecord, it was an attack on @jeffgoldblum who is very often the target of personal, goady attacks.
