A lighter thread for chat about Harry and Meghan

Thought I'd start a lighter Harry & Meghan thread.

Posting here doesn't mean you're a fan, a supporter, or that you agree with everything they do. It's simply a space for anyone who wants to have a more lighthearted chat, share things they like e.g. maybe it's a photo you thought was lovely, an outfit you liked, a moment from an appearance, or just something that caught your eye.

People will always have different opinions, but sometimes it's nice to have a space for a different type of conversation 🙂

I also thought Diana had lovely handwriting. It was crude and ‘untaught’, but very nice to look at.

The Oz Masterchef is everywhere, you don't have to go and look for it. It just popped up on a feed for me. I have only watched a couple of clips but she did well, from what I saw
The format is quite different to UK masterchef isn't it...

Yes it is, like most shows that are aired in different countries there will be some small differences.

I also thought it was sweet how genuinely thrilled the contestants were to see her there. My friend lives in Australia and says Harry and Meghan are very popular.

That's a bit strange as the real RF is not very popular there and they like to remind people he is a Prince of England but then it was a curated audience.

Would Meghan have joined if it wasn't a curated audience? Most likely not.

She comes across insincere and so she’s hard to watch. The photo in the rain is lovely though and they did look loved up there.

simpsonthecat · 28/07/2026 21:18

I think Meghan has interest in food, presentation, lifestyle stuff... so it's her thing really.
I watched some of her NF series, great cinematography, beautiful settings. It was inane dross but quite soothing.

It's a bit like her insta etc. No comments allowed. Curated 😂

I also liked this photograph but I've read in the last few days that the raindrops are added to enhance the image like the ones with Harry and child in the pool. That's a bit disappointing.

poohbearhunny · 28/07/2026 21:47

I have always been so envious of her gorgeous hair! It’s so beautiful!

I also always enjoyed her in Suits, I thought she was a good actress the first time watching (before all of this really)

That's strange, everything I have read says the raindrops were genuine as it was raining on that date six years ago. Have you got a source for it being digitally enhanced? It was an award winning photographer that took it, so I am surprised and how odd it would come up now 6 years after the picture was taken!

I too loved suits and thought she was beautiful in it and thought her acting was also fine.

Most photography is curated in some way lighting, composition, editing, choosing the final image etc. You can still appreciate a photo for what it is: a good image that captured a moment.

@bitemyassets
Where did you read that?
Samir Hussein who took the photo and who has worked for Getty Images for years has described how he got that shot.

I liked the summer photo of her and Harry at a restaurant, I always look terrible if I'm photograhed laughing. Also like the shot by the pool of her and the beagle.

I thought it was a pity that Harry had to facetime her Masterchef appearance. I don't know whether it was planned, spontaneous or required by Masterchef but i think it stole a bit of her thunder and wasn't necessary. Meghan is the one who is interested in food; she doesn't need a random call from her husband she can stand on her own two feet. It felt like Harry was undercutting her. I could of course be reading far too much into it, it's just the reactions of the other judges and contests to Meghan herself made me wonder why they included him as well.

Totally agree. Of the two, Meghan is the more able presenter and doesn't need any help from the dimwit royal hubby but I agree that she was probably encouraged/urged to make it happen by the production team. I haven't watched it, so unable to comment on the content or presentation but the feedback looks good.

I don't think Harry was undercutting her, it's about the brand, isn't it? She was invited as a Royal Duchess, and Harry is the person who has given her that status, and allows her to be royal adjacent.
However, I would agree that she's actually better without him, and could build an individual brand.

simpsonthecat · 29/07/2026 12:00

I don't think it was necessary but betcha the production team required it.

Yes, I'm sure that was part of the arrangement.

LipglossAndLies · 29/07/2026 12:17

I actually see it from a completely different angle. Rather than stealing her spotlight, him being a part of that show through FaceTime is just a great example of a healthy relationship dynamic.

They have a really easy, natural chemistry and clearly just enjoy each other's company. A confident woman isn't going to feel threatened by her partner popping in to show support or doing a quick cameo, it doesn't take away from her shine at all.

Personally, I think it's healthy when partners actively engage in what the other loves. In my own relationship, we make it a priority to stay interested in each other's separate worlds. My partner asks questions about my passions, and while I don’t attend all his regular football events, I made sure to join in on the World Cup stuff.

Yes, there was a lot of squealing!

I live here and they are not popular in fact people were really pissed off about their “faux” royal visit and how much tax payer funded protection they got!

I don't think a female presenter's husband would do a pre arranged call when she was making a tv show, unless that husband had high status? Like a royal title?
That's what it's about, isn't it?
I don't blame her, that's what she has to sell, but it's definitely about selling.

simpsonthecat · 29/07/2026 12:36

Who cares if it's about selling? The contestants enjoyed it, the audience enjoyed it, Meghan enjoyed it, her fellow judges enjoyed it... that's about it really isn't it

I'm making a point about Harry's involvement, which someone said was "undermining" and another said it was the sign of a happy marriage!
Of course it's about selling, because that's their livelihood. That's not a criticism.
It's important not to think that every comment is a criticism of H&M. Obviously, they've got their fans on here, which is fine, but there's a reality as well!
