I was musing on the parallels between Harry and James Hewitt.
Now let me start by stating that I absolutely DO NOT believe Harry is Hewitt's son - it is widely accepted that he and Diana did not meet until some time after Harry's birth for a start, plus other reasons.
But look at their life trajectories:
Hewitt - sold out his stories re: Diana, branded a cad by his army mates, blackballed from army clubs and organisations which presumably meant he lost many/most of his friends and his social life took a dive.
Tried various business ventures with the money he made, but they all failed (not sure if he was ever bankrupted).
Went home to live with Mummy, where he currently shares a small two bedroom abode (according to google) and works as a gardener.
Harry - sold out stories re: his family, and dines out on the Diana memory. Has lost most of his friends and social life.
Tried various business ventures (with Meghan as well) presumably utilising money made, they have all failed.
Trying to go home to live with Daddy.
Military careers:
Harry couldn't make it beyond Captain.
Hewitt achieved promotion to Captain after six years. Served as Challenger tank squadron commander in Gulf War. Mentioned in despatches.
Failed exam for promotion to Major three times.
Hewitt used to drink in the village pub where I lived in Devon back in the day. The locals didn't really talk to him and he would cut a lonely figure propping up the bar on his own. The future beckons Harry - he'll be in a pub near one of us sometime soon...
