@MyDogClive I meant more about the " scandal" of the situation and what was associated with them rightly or wrongly.

Lots of discussions elsewhere about the photos at Althrop and the shadows being wrong .
I am not seeing it but maybe someone can explain?

Althorp.

I think they’ve been watching Beyond Paradise plus one other UK tv drama I’ve for gotten the name of where the crimes were solved at the last minute due to the shadows in photographs being wrong. I didn’t understand it then and I still wouldn’t understand it if I watched it on repeat all day today.

Mylovelygreendress · 25/07/2026 10:35

Where’s Brian Cox when we need him ??

Dontevenlookatme · 25/07/2026 10:58

MM is not Wallis Simpson. WS was very chic and stylish, she was extremely witty and excellent company by all accounts. She also married an actual King, a serving monarch, not a Prince with no real role other than to sit on the subs bench on the off chance he might be needed.

SheinSussex · 25/07/2026 11:03

I’ve looked at the shadow photos and TBH the shadows look OK.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 25/07/2026 11:04

I've finally seen the flowers photo, it really is tasteless to share that on IG

PinkHairbrushClub · 25/07/2026 11:06

I’ve been looking at it. The people, in the images have shadows that fall in front of them so the light is behind them. But the trees and hedges seem to have shadows that suggest the light is directly above them not behind them. Although the light quality looks similar to me so maybe two stitched together photos taken a short while apart?

So, the kids photoshopped in?!
Who knows with this pair, their lives must be so narrow and empty, giving this sort of nonsense so much headspace and never understanding that it just makes them even bigger objects of ridicule.

I was 16 when Diana died. Didn’t impact me then and doesn’t impact me now. I empathised with her boys losing their mum. But for me, now in my forties, she was just a person.

I was 17 and remember being shocked hearing the news on the radio with my mum in the car. My parents were hugely critical of Diana however so very quickly were in the "this is madness" brigade. I was working the morning of her funeral and plenty of people weren't glued to the telly.
As for empathy for the boys, nope. I didn't see them as real people. Nowadays I would feel for them all if one of them died, but they are much more in our faces with the omnipresent media. (That's my choice though, I'm sure my husband would barely notice other than his work being affected (he indirectly works for the King !)

I don’t know, but I can see how people are unsure it’s a straight photo. At first I thought it looked fine but then the hedges made me doubt myself.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/07/2026 11:34

"The easiest thing to say is to keep your kids away from social media,” Harry told HuffPost at the event
“Life is better off of social media,” Harry continued. “I say that as a parent, and I say that as someone who’s spoken to many of the kids here tonight who are not on social media because they’ve lost a brother or a sister to social media

Thank you, @IAmATorturedPoet; I'd got that in my mind but couldn't think where it came from so you've saved me a job Smile

Amusing that some try to pretend they didn't say exactly such-and-such but that it was something else/the media's fault, when actually the hypocrisy is all too obvious ... almost as if they feel their tarnished idols' playbook is something to admire and copy

bluegreygreen · 25/07/2026 11:37

Apparently KC saw H on his own for a short time before M and the DC were ushered through

Where do we know this from? The Sussexes? Or just general rumours?

Very frequently, posters who are pro Sussex like to downplay this.
Why? The blatant hypocrisy of H&M. It's indefensible. So they defend it by pretending it never happened, or Harry didn't quite say that plus accusations of other posters lying.
It's an uncomfortable truth, what H&M have said, and what has been actually said and done are very different.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/07/2026 11:50

CathyorClaire · 24/07/2026 21:09

Catching up but I've never been convinced the Althorp island is the genuine article.

I think it's far more likely St Diana rests in the still heavily cordoned off to gen pop family vault in the local church alongside her father.

I've wondered the same, Cathy, but don't forget that Harry told his ridiculous story about Meghan kneeling at a grave imploring guidance from its occupant, and that doesn't seem to fit as well with a church vault

And given his many indiscretions I'm not sure he'd have the sense to keep the story on an island just to suit the family narrative

Yes it’s straight out of the HAM’s playbook isn’t it? we didn’t say my family were racist, it’s the briddish media and there fans follow suit.

Spot on.
They make a claim, it's obviously a lie. Then they backtrack and blame others.
The fans are the same!

Lifestooshort71 · 25/07/2026 11:55

If one accepts that any photo can be altered to show whatever the poster/photographer wants and if we were even to consider that some/many of HAM's holiday snaps have been photoshopped, do we have any impartial evidence that M and the children ever left Montecito (or Portugal if they got that far)? Has it all been 'private sources say...' ?? Have either KC or Cam actually officially said anything about seeing the rest of the family?
(Apologies but this thread scampers along at such speed that I have trouble keeping up!)

If HAM had actually posted a picture of Diana’s gravestone but left out her name and left just the date of 1961-1997 the fans would be saying but you don’t know it’s Diana’s grave, it could be anyone’s, you are liars! Where’s your proof? ad infinitum.

I guess that to many people Diana is like Wallis Simpson to those of us who heard about her when we were young - seemed a very long time ago and irrelevant. Well it is/was. Talked about at the time . This is Meghan's fate.

@ Corblimey, I remember learning about Wallis as an 80’s teen - probably through the sale of her jewellery - and she at least seemed very glamorous. Unfortunately, while Diana, was a beautiful woman, her style was of the era, and while bits of 80’s fashion come round again, wide shouldered skirt suits and puffy ball gowns never will. So Diana is unlikely to cut through to younger generations as a style icon. And as a wannabe influencer, surely even M must realise that fashion is no longer about the look of few few individuals, but about diverse looks?

I'm in my 50s, and Wallis Simpson was only ever a fairly obscure historical figure, who didn't really seem to have done anything apart from marrying an (ex) king. Nice jewellery, though.

Diana died when I was in my 20s. It was a big news item and I felt very sorry for her children. But some of the reaction (the public laying flowers etc) did seem weird to me. She always struck me as a bit dim, and quite manipulative of the press.

I don't know where this comes from (I think I read somewhere it was 'from sources' which could mean anything or nothing). I find it odd as I can't imagine Meghan agreeing and meekly sitting outside waiting to be summoned and letting Harry see Charles on his own. I think she'd have flounced off if she was told to wait. And what would be the point anyway? He'd only come out and tell her what had been said. I'll put my head on the line here and duck for cover but I seriously doubt she was even in the UK, the kids maybe but not her. Yes, I know the Palace said she was here but I take that with a pinch of salt.

I think Meghan and the hamlets were definitely told to wait outside, firstly because KC would naturally want to see his son without his puppet master in the room, secondly it would put the puppet master in her place, making her wait, that would have infuriated her and I bet her jaw clenching must have been off the scale and have given her TMJ, thirdly it would mean KC and QC were able to spend minimal time with her and give her barely any ammunition to use at a future date, I expect Meghan and the hamlets were in the room for less than 30 minutes.
