Another day another story from HAM PR-central placed in their mouthpiece People Magazine - the subject of today's article is that Meghan on the beach evokes memories of Diana on holiday.... 🙄

They are really pushing the Diana angle at the moment so I guess they are intending to make the documentary - although I find is the cosplaying Diana is really in bad taste.

The picture of meghan on the beach was the perfect example of how she’s no Diana.

There is a weird thing because to me "Archie" looks like a girl with a French plait - does anyone else see this?

Yes. I saw it as well.

A source who knows the couple told People Magazine that [Meghan] felt “humiliated” by the chaos that surrounded their trip to the UK

Humiliation is such a peculiar response to the chaos around the ANL judgement, the accommodation problem, the security. Frustration (are we going or are we not, what do we tell the children), embarrassment (couldn’t organize a piss up in a brewery), boredom (ffs here again), anger (why can’t anything go right just once) - sure. Any of these.

Humiliation suggests that she feels lowered in standing by the chaos. What standing does she think she had? Couple this with one outlet (forget which) which quoted another “source” as saying she felt like a burden rather than a member of the family around the Highgrove trip - it makes you question how she sees herself vis a vis her in laws and in the British public’s eyes.

Apparently KC saw H on his own for a short time before M and the DC were ushered through so I assume she was “ humiliated” by having to wait with some flunky while H spoke to his father .

Of course she's a burden!! Doesn't she realise that?

Like he’s shooting a basketball though?

Edited

I think it looks real, mainly because I have similar photos of my husband and daughter. She stands on his knees as he crouches in the pool and when ready he launches quickly and she pushes of simultaneously to get height. She ends up in some amazing positions and his arms are all over the place.

Mind you I don’t see what you all see about Archie in the pool either. It’s just a boy with wet hair with his back turned.

Regardless of whether I think differently about the photos themselves or not though, I agree with everyone, apart from the obvious exception, that the whole thing is wildly hypocritical.

Standing on a beach in a black bathing suit doesn't make you Diana. I've done it. & I at the time rushed into the waves ( before my Mummy swimming era 😂) I wish Sussex friendly publications wouldn't push this M is Diana 0.2 thing. I think even the Spencer family when H asked them if they didn't think M was like D said "no". Just because you aren't Diana doesn't make you a bad person. Just because you are H's wife doesn't make you Diana .

Diana was called the most photographed woman in the world, maybe that is what m is aiming for. Long long way to go to have as many front page/ magazine covers as Diana. Not sure your own insta's count as front page pap fodder unlike Diana who was literally followed everywhere, often tipping off the press herself.

The whole St Diana thing that some - and I include H here - like to perpetuate is weird.

She very demonstrably, was no saint.

True but say it out loud and people are aghast!

Its like William describing his mother as paranoid because of the BBC lies they told her to get "that interview" suddenly he is his fathers son nothing to do with Diana he is scum called this by people who weren't even alive at the same time as her! Everyone drones on about how "cold" William is "just like his father" his father is overly emotional always has been but no no! apparently thats all Diana's traits and that's what harry inherited from his poor (murdered by the royal family allegedly) mother

Honestly I think she had a mental illness and he (harry) inherited that the way they spiral is so similar

SaltyTea · 25/07/2026 07:51

From a PR perspective, I wonder how much Diana resonates with people nowadays. She seems to me a figure very much of her era (I am a couple of years younger than she was). Does she still matter to 40, 30, 20 year olds?

Completely agree with this. At the time of her death her star was waning, papers were turning against her but as soon as she died suddenly she was a saint. Never mind the marriages she broke up .
She was a flawed human like the rest of us.

It’s a bit early in the morning for popcorn, but I do enjoy the idea of People magazine’s mystery source doing her homework to recreate a Diana look and pose, then writing the press release to helpfully remind the magazine of the connection.

See through skirt - tick
black swimming costume - tick
Black only just on the shoulder cocktail dress - surely waiting at the back of the wardrobe just waiting for an invitation.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 25/07/2026 08:14

@SaltyTea agree, I was in my 20s when she died and whilst it was a tragic shocking end, I never did quite buy the innocent, batting eyelashes thing…

not sure she’s of much interest to younger gen….

HAMS Temu Diana 2.0 cosplay is just odd.

Diana 0.2! Genius

The Times has a funny piece by Hilary Rose which could have come from our own august threads - why are they so miserable and angry whilst posting these (to me very boring and despite the locations pretty naf) photos?

Just thinking even that photo of them at dinner which looks like a happy, unposed shot isn't because she's deliberately displaying Diana's watch and jewellery.

I guess that to many people Diana is like Wallis Simpson to those of us who heard about her when we were young - seemed a very long time ago and irrelevant. Well it is/was. Talked about at the time . This is Meghan's fate.

Mylovelygreendress · 25/07/2026 09:13

Lots of discussions elsewhere about the photos at Althrop and the shadows being wrong .
I am not seeing it but maybe someone can explain?

Althorp.

Mylovelygreendress · 25/07/2026 09:14

Photo hasn’t posted 🤷‍♀️. It’s the one of H , A and L walking ( apparently) to D’s grave .

corblimeymlud · 25/07/2026 09:25

Not this photo? 😂

@ Corblimey, I remember learning about Wallis as an 80’s teen - probably through the sale of her jewellery - and she at least seemed very glamorous. Unfortunately, while Diana, was a beautiful woman, her style was of the era, and while bits of 80’s fashion come round again, wide shouldered skirt suits and puffy ball gowns never will. So Diana is unlikely to cut through to younger generations as a style icon. And as a wannabe influencer, surely even M must realise that fashion is no longer about the look of few few individuals, but about diverse looks?

PinkHairbrushClub · 25/07/2026 09:38

I was 16 when Diana died. Didn’t impact me then and doesn’t impact me now. I empathised with her boys losing their mum. But for me, now in my forties, she was just a person.
