This "they wanted privacy" line is so boring because it ignores all the nuance.

Harry literally said, "We never said we wanted privacy." Their issue has always been intrusive press coverage and having no control over what was published about them or their children.

Privacy isn't an all-or-nothing concept. Most people who value privacy still choose to share parts of their lives. And their online safety campaign isn't about parents never posting photos of their children, it's about holding social media companies accountable and giving parents more control over what their kids are exposed to online and letting them know to be more cautiousof whst they post. Choosing what you share yourself is fundamentally different from having it taken from you.

No. They want publicity and they self promote. That's fine if that's their choice. Show the children on holiday for the clicks and the headlines.
Don't then tell others that children shouldn't be put on social media.
That's what they do. Self promote for fame and money. Fine. Just don't be hypocritical about it all.

Something which they have lectured others on.

Does she actually swim? Has it ever been mentioned? Seems unlikely a California native would be a non swimmer or not keen on the water but anything is possible I guess.

It looks like a large, flat, polished, black granite slab.

I don't think it's dark enough for that - it looks to me like a commercial hard standing where you might lay a harvest to dry, particularly given the volume of cut flowers, which are stretching off into the distance.

I think what they wanted was to be highly visible like Royalty and celebrities, but still treated as private citizens and never criticized.

If the photos disappear we have our answer .

I agree with @Cismyfatarse (I love that username) and the Times article. When your summer holiday includes time in Portugal in a luxury resort by the beach , tea at Highgrove , staying with Uncle Charles on his country estate , swimming pools galore whether be UC's or your own at home in your vast house in Montecito , how do you find the energy to be so angry about things? Why does H rail against the government and the courts , why does M let it be known she was "humiliated." Why does H so often have a resting Prince face? For all M's talk of finding Joy in the smallest moments they certainly know how to find the worst in what looks like a fairly idyllic life. (& I know as with any instagram photos it is a snapshot) but they do have an idyllic life in some ways if only they could relax and enjoy it rather than either wanting to be billionaires or thinking everyone's out to get them. My dear lately departed father when he gave his speech at my wedding said "As you go through life don't forget to stop and smell the flowers". Harry maybe used to all this luxury but M isn't. & neither of them seem overworked. They have time to enjoy what they have. I hope they do in between the carping and I think they could profitably wind down the carping a bit.

You may very well be right - but in which case he's a fool who is wasting some of the best years of his life. That could be true, but what a shame if it is.

BTW I don't think the lavender is Diana's grave. I was watering my window boxes and spoke to a neighbour who has a place in Portugal ( not CT's) and apparently July is lavender harvesting season, so I suspect this is just a random pretty photo from Portugal. I'm prepared to believe some things about HAM , and I thought the photo of them carrying flowers was naff , but I don't believe even M would put D's grave on Instagram.

The public know they have two children together-mainly because she has been photographed/interviewed while pregnant.
The public don’t know the sex of the children or their names.
They are never posted on social media .
It’s possible if you want to.
You only post your kids on social media to people you don’t know if you want something - attention, gossip, making a brand and hoping for some nepotism down the line.
Famous/wealthy people who are not interested in monetising their kids do not post to their ‘followers’ . They do not seek attention for their children who can as I can testify remain utterly anonymous. .

Where in the quote has he said don't put children on social media? Please show his quote where he says that exactly? Otherwise your making it up. Saying be cautious (which is his quote) is not the same as don't put any up.

I would guess that the chlorinated water in swimming pools or the seawater would play havoc with MM's chemically treated hair!

Keir Starmer never named his children or even, I think, confirmed their genders. He never, ever allowed them to be photographed. I don’t think much of him but I really admired him for doing that.

That's simply untrue to say celebrities only post for the reasons you mentioned. Plenty of celebrities share the occasional photo of their children without exploiting or monetising them, nepotism etc.
Others hide their faces, show the backs of their heads, or don't post them at all.

There isn't one morally correct approach. It's a parenting choice.

I really admired him for that as well. Those children have had total privacy.
It's no doubt helpful for security as well.
