There have been, both on other social media platforms and on here, plenty of comments criticising Meghan for attending previous Invictus events, with recurring remarks such as "Why is she there?"
There was even an entire thread on here that you can find titled 'Invictus 2025' devoted to the question of why she was on stage. Within the first few pages alone, posters questioned what Meghan's official role at Invictus was, argued that the focus should be on the competitors and veterans rather than Harry and Meghan, and debated whether her attendance was appropriate given that Harry founded Invictus while she holds no formal patronage role. Comments included:
"Invictus is nothing to do with her!"
"Why is Meghan on the stage? Maybe she is hoping it will increase the value of her 'divorce book'.""I
think the point is that she doesn’t need to be there!", "Just why is she there. It's embarrassing. It's making it about her and 'H', not the veterans."
"Certainly the Meghan show at the moment. She appears dominant in everything."
"This inability to refrain from inserting herself into the middle of everything is really, really peculiar behaviour. She would have been better off staying at home."
One poster even observed at the time, "Because if she wasn’t, there would be ten more nasty threads like this speculating that their marriage was in difficulty."
That comment now seems remarkably apt. Meghan has not attended the recent Invictus event, yet the criticism has simply shifted from questioning why she was there to questioning why she isn't, with claims that she is not supporting Harry. It rather demonstrates that, for some people, whichever choice she makes is likely to attract criticism.
