The Monarchy who wants it all ways as normal.
Strip AMW of his patronages, royal titles and his honorary vice admiral rank....but give him a royal funeral with all the bells and whistles and Royal navy salutes etc

There will be a lot of negativity about it (a poll says 86% say NO!!) so I have no idea why his direct family like the children would cling on to this and not want a private funeral.

And of course the taxpayer foots the bill for a ceremonial royal funeral, heaven forbid that anyone apart from the monarch should pay for their own funeral when the taxpayer can be fleeced as normal.

Given the extremely quiet and private wedding Beatrice had it’s entirely possible the review of plans is to do what is being suggested I.e. no state funeral very quiet, minimal info etc.

Her wedding was quiet and private because of COVID though, wasn't it? Otherwise she might've had as big a shindig as Eugenie.

As @AnnunciataM says, her wedding was on 17th July 2020, at the height of the first Covid lockdown. Otherwise it would have been a full on shindig.

Covid did her a favour there. There definitely wasn't public support for a big wedding, and evenbefore that the BBC refused to televised Eugenie's

I know Beatrice’s wedding was Covid related but it showed the RF can do quiet and private.

Everyone on here is so convinced AMW is going to have a state funeral because there are plans in place.

He won't have a state funeral or even any form of public funeral. The RF (here's a big assumption) aren't that daft...

That is exactly the point I have been making but a lot of posters think a review of plans = state funeral.

While I don't think there will be the flags at half mast nonsense I do think there will be a substantial security bill to foot given MW still inexplicably commands a 2% fan base in royal favourability trackers.

A senior navy man in the article states he'd be willing to be a pall-bearer the fee for which would undoubtedly come from the public purse and I don't doubt further significant navy presence on Falklands grounds.

As for the Yorkettes weddings, MW pushed for the full royal circus for Euge and got it. Bea got the Covid deal but I don't doubt she'd have had the full bells and whistles had events not intervened.

Looking at the actions of the institution in the recent years nothing would surprise me and I sgree with you @simpsonthecat taxpayers will foot some type of bill.

Yes and obviously whilst someone is alive they can state their wishes for their funeral. It goes without saying that AMW would want the whole shebang and as he has shown no remorse whatsoever for anything he's done, that stands to reason.
Of course his daughters would go along with it, don't understand it all, privacy wouldn't come into it.

I wonder of his family just didn't want his funeral to be turned into a media circus if she turned up, they may well have said to stay away. Perhaps she really is keeping a low profile as the arricle says ..who knows

Some stuff yes you get through sources, I’m certain, but legal stuff like a will? I’m not so sure and I worked in a high street branch, not a big law firm and no amount of money, would have tempted me to go rogue.

He didn't break this story. It was the Daily Mail and in fact Lownie cast doubt on this story so he's not the villain

it was going to be posh and swanky, and likely there would have been some sort of coverage of the guests going up and down the Mall, but nothing like Eugenie’s was even in the original plans as the Chapel Royal only holds 150 people.

SF’s relationship with McNally is really quite icky imo.

She was young, hired as the nanny after his wife died, and then ends up in a relationship with her boss who was 25 years older than her. Very grim on his part.

That they stayed in touch, even stayed close, doesn’t take that grimness away for me.

Yes, I'd agree with you on that. The fact that he was described as something of a father figure to her suggests that she had some serious daddy issues.
