It’s only a shame for you, you who appear to have a personal grudge against Catherine in particular. Yes you must find in a great shame how positively her successful challenge has been received, how popular she is, how heartfelt her video was, how much people will have donated to The Royal Marsden because of Catherine.

No. There are bound to be issues with any very rich person asking other less rich people to contribute to a favorite cause of theirs. The walk is a significant achievement for the PofW and she should be able to be uncomplicatedly of herself. So if the achievement can be detached from the fundraising somehow then that would be better all round.

The latest bugle call appears to be tell them off for mentioning Harry and Meghan! Well the answer to that is no, absolutely not, funny isn’t it how radon gas and Dartmoor prison doesn’t get cries of what’s that got to do with the thread? so start practicing what you preach or button it.

Indeed! It’s very …..

today hypocrisy GIF

I’d love to see how much Harry as a single royal and Harry and Meghan as a couple cost the tax payer during their time as ‘working’ royals. You don’t ever see the faux republicans questioning this do you 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why would it be questioned when they were working royals? They were working? What's the issue with them having it when they were working?

Then what’s the problem with the other working royals receiving tax payer funding when they are working royals??? Make it make sense 🤣

Do tell us where she asked for money?

Are you similarly upset with members like about @Ukisgaslit calling anyone who disagrees with them “royalist” and “monarchist”?

Edited because you deserve applause for pointing out that they are also childish for naming themselves that.

Edited

It’s common sense. Most people defending Catherine are using the exact same playbook as the royalists and the ROTA: deflecting every critique with whataboutism, holding the main line of BRF to standards that wouldn't fly to anyone else in the world, deflecting and obsessively pivoting to conspiracies about Sussexes the second they are cornered. If you act, talk, and defend the institution exactly like a monarchist, don’t be shocked when you get called one.

On the other hand, you don’t need to be a Sussex fan or a die-hard Republican to see the entitlement and rot within this specific family. I’m neutral on monarchy as a whole. — for ex I find the Danish and Spanish families perfectly fine—but that doesn't mean anyone will have to ignore the fact that the current British royals are failing to give anyone a single reason for their continued existence. Calling every critic as Sussex Squad or antimonarchist is just insane or a blatant way to move goal posts.

What in particular do you like about the Spanish and Denmark monarchies?

simpsonthecat · 01/07/2026 17:37

Why can't posters come on here and say something without being accused of being Sussex Squad, hating members of the royal family, a Stan (whatever that is, something rude no doubt) or bugle calls like someone has sent me a message telling me to post?! As if!

If I have something to say, I comment, different opinions are allowed believe it or not.

Because the impression you give is that you hate the entire royal family and are complaining about the rest? Why not Harry? Oh wait, I know exactly why. Coz you’re a faux republican 😉

Edited

I have opinions on the institution itself. It doesn't matter who the members of this institution are that are working within then I will comment on it. That isn't hate. I don't personally attack any of the RF members.

Harry and Meghan have left the institution, are not working for it so I don't have much to say about them. I don't want to spend my time commenting about what they do outside of it, what they wear, where they go on holiday, their house decor, their insta posts, whether they have money or not and all the endless stuff that gets discussed. I don't personally like gossiping in that way so I don't do it. 💁‍♀️

Suppose it’s the same as the other side referring to people as plebs, peasants, forelock tuggers etc

Swings and roundabouts I guess

Spanish £7.1million cost versus UK £132 million does it for me.

Apples and oranges

British Monarchy: The British sovereign serves as the head of state for 15 independent nations (known as the Commonwealth realms), including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Spanish Monarchy: King Felipe VI is the head of state solely for Spain.

It’s a shame that Catherine could not somehow have done the walk as a personal challenge, and to highlight that there is life after cancer. Or even have done it entirely privately. And then encouraged public donations some other way-via one of the souvenir shops or something. There’s bound to be problems with her personally fundraising-if that’s what she’s doing.

She said she did it partly as a personal challenge and partly as a thanks to Royal Marsden. Or I guess you might not believe her like you cast doubt on everything before her cancer diagnosis

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/07/2026 17:37

What in particular do you like about the Spanish and Denmark monarchies?

I prefer the Danish and Spanish models because they are actually integrated into society, transparent, and humbler. Figures like Mary and Letizia have a clear work ethic, Letizia, in particular, brought her background as a journalist into her role, which actually makes a difference. These women treat their roles like a job that requires substance. When you compare that to the BRF, the difference is embarrassing. Most importantly, there isn't this constant, sordid history of enabling pedophiles, lack of transparency or shielding shady connections. And there's no extreme laziness or preciouness in them. That’s why the British royals stick out so negatively; they lack that professional substance and accountability. I don't think constitutional monarchy is the ideal system, but I also think there's worst systems around; the issue is that this is simply not working in UK because it's rotten to the core.

Also my opinion in their in laws like Felipe sisters and his father is more negative, and this points the contradictions of monarchy. I won't enter in details here as it's not the issue of this topic, anyway.

How much does that cost the British Sovereign I wonder... that would be the subject for a different thread.
According to my quick google, Commonwealth nations cost zero, nada, nowt to the British monarchy, they pay for their own governance.

Huge difference between £7million and £132 million

Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014 after close to 40 years in power and handed power to his son Felipe.
His decision to give up the throne came after a corruption investigation involving his daughter's husband and a controversial elephant hunting trip the monarch took during Spain's financial crisis.
In June 2020, Spain's Supreme Court launched an investigation into Juan Carlos's alleged involvement in a high-speed rail contract in Saudi Arabia.
He denied any wrongdoing and insisted he was available if prosecutors needed to interview him. But in August of that year, he travelled to the UAE where he has been living since.
The forthcoming visit has been criticised by the far-left Podemos party, which is part of the coalition government.
