Hilarious isn’t it 😂

Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014, 12 years ago.

It’s common sense. Most people defending Catherine are using the exact same playbook as the royalists and the ROTA: deflecting every critique with whataboutism, holding the main line of BRF to standards that wouldn't fly to anyone else in the world, deflecting and obsessively pivoting to conspiracies about Sussexes the second they are cornered. If you act, talk, and defend the institution exactly like a monarchist, don’t be shocked when you get called one.

On the other hand, you don’t need to be a Sussex fan or a die-hard Republican to see the entitlement and rot within this specific family. I’m neutral on monarchy as a whole. — for ex I find the Danish and Spanish families perfectly fine—but that doesn't mean anyone will have to ignore the fact that the current British royals are failing to give anyone a single reason for their continued existence. Calling every critic as Sussex Squad or antimonarchist is just insane or a blatant way to move goal posts.

“the fact that the current British royals are failing to give anyone a single reason for their continued existence.”

Not exactly a neutral statement. Also, “fact” means something.

The fact that more people are favourable about the monarchy than not would negate that statement surely! 🤷‍♀️

Most importantly, there isn't this constant, sordid history of enabling pedophiles, lack of transparency or shielding shady connections

The clue is in the word “history” and as it was only 12 years ago I would say that is very recent history indeed.

Does that mean the British Royal Family get forgiven for Andrew in 12 years? I highly doubt that 🤣

It still doesn't justify £7million versus £132million! Our lot cost too much.

The financial costs of the two monarchies have nothing to do with a poster saying that the Spanish monarchy has no history of corruption and you trying unsuccessfully to defend their corruption because it happened 12 years ago. Is this the new rule? anything that happened more than 12 years ago doesn’t count? Andrew can be forgiven then by your reckoning 😂

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/07/2026 18:17

I’m going to refer to the 12 year rule in future as endorsed by republicans.

I am not defending their corruption! Juan Carlos was absolutely disgusting and I followed it as I have connections over there.

Someone asked what was so good about the Spanish monarchy, I answered with the costs.

Stop trying to make this into something it isn't. I answered a question about what I found favourable about Spanish v UK

Juan Carlos is as bad as Andrew and it's enablers like Charles, William and Catherine right. Thanks God queen Letizia also never liked Juan Carlos and he abdicated 12 years ago.

You were trying to brush it under the carpet by your 12 year comment as well you know, nothing to see here…..

So you’re happy with general corruption as long as the cost isn’t too high? And as long as it happened over 12 years go?

Wow 😮

Simply don't fail for the bailt. The poster mentioned Letizia and Felipe and explicitly said they don't like Juan Carlos and the in laws, all who are estranged btw. But they are playing dumb to bring Juan Carlos into the discussion ignoring the writing .

All this to divert from many people disliking Catherine and her clear PR antics.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 01/07/2026 18:33

I have no idea! Some poster brought them up as a shining example as they always do, because they cost buttons and don’t have any corruption or scandals apparently 😂

Oh don't be so ridiculous. I know you are trying so hard for a gotcha, but it ain't working.

As I said, I have connections to Espana, how Juan Carlos behaved was absolutely disgusting, for oh so many reasons.

The cost of our Monarchy versus their Monarchy is a completely different matter

I would ask you to refrain from saying "I am happy with corruption". It is rude, untrue and insulting.

myrtleWilson · 01/07/2026 18:34

Did she bully her way up the three peaks @OneFancyBird ? Was she going to push Ted over to get past him before the supporters formed a supportive phalanx around him?

Many? A small but vocal minority (mostly found online) dislike Catherine. She’s one of the most popular royals, whether you like it or not 🤣

But Letizia never got along with Juan Carlos. They always hated each other, which had proven the queen of Spain right. So, this argument doesn't hold.

Unlike Catherine who is stated that prefers to live next to Andrew and was seen laughing with this disgusting man after many accusations. Which mother would be fine with coddling with a man after being publicly accused of pedophilia and who is friends with Epstein? Not to mention Catherine links with Richard Branson who has been in the island, her family going bankrupt and not paying the people, and plus uncle Gary's shady shady money.

The Spanish monarchy should go down too, though. But the truth is that it still works better than the one in UK, though the bar is not too high, right?
