Its a combined ascent of 3064 metres (10,052ft), total walking distance of 23 miles (37km), and total driving distance is 462 miles in 24 hours. Ben Nevis is a relentless, mindless slog up and down, so you need a good level of both physical as well as mental fitness to do it. It's a tough challenge and shouldn't be underestimated.

I agree. I've walked up all three (separately), and even Snowdon, which is by far the easiest, isn't a stroll in the park. All three in 24 hours is a significant feat of endurance. And I really disagree that anyone could do it- maybe most people who are already fit, but I think a very small percentage of the general population would manage, even with plenty of training. I know I certainly couldn't, and I'm in good health for my age- possibly 20 years ago!

But her being workshy or lack of normal working life has to do with whose who support her lifestyle. People defending that she can't work because she one day has cancer ? Ok but makes no sense if she has energy to take 5 vacations and do such hiking. Doesn't mean that she can't hike but it shows that she has enough energy to do the same amount of work of her 80 years father in law

This is because its widely done as a sponsored event, by people who either underestimate it, or overestimate their own fitness, or are 'gym fit' but not used to walking.

I'm not saying it would have been easy for Catherine, but she's always been very athletic and even post-cancer is likely to have regained her fitness very quickly. She's also got exactly the right build for an endurance challenge like this.

They also get absolutely roasted for their poor parenting, and specifically, not spending enough time with their children.

People are asking why she is fit enough for high-exertion personal milestones but unavailable for her official duties. Those are two different things, and if you read the argument, you’d see the difference. Catherine disclosed she's in recession for over one year, but she has every right for her privacy specially about her health and sharing whatever she desires, and anyone arguing otherwise is insane.

The Princess of Wales does not have a constitutional role, so strictly speaking I'm not sure she has any 'official duties' at all. What are the 'official duties' she has been 'unavailable' for? Can you be specific?

This is using semantics to distract. You are conflating constitutional role with official duties. She is a working royal'l. This means she is publicly funded to perform official engagements such as patronages, national commemorations, and representing the UK both at home and abroad. Being unavailable'l refers to the significant reduction in these public-facing commitments. She works less than Camilla when she was princess less than Diana, less than Anne who is double her age. The question remains: why is the physical threshold for private, high exertion activity seemingly different from the threshold required for these public professional duties?

Those aren't 'official duties'. Nor are they 'professional' duties. What's her profession?

And again, specifically which 'duties' has she been 'unavailable' for? Could you name a specific 'official' event where she should have been but was not? Vague comparisons with people in different generations don't tell us much.

it doesn't mean it's recommended tho. it's perfectly normal to have someone drive you between sites so you can eat and nap. otherwise the person driving is getting zero rest and no proper food.

They are more criticised by lack of working than being poor parents. The only time they were really roasted is when Louis misbehaved publicly and pointed fingers at Catherine, which made people question if Catherine, who seems, to be studying early years, was really raising them. Other than that, I don't see people asking for Catherine to stay more at home, the complaints are actually the contrary, that she's lazy and spoiled.

But again, just because you're fit enough to walk up a mountain doesn't automatically mean you're fit to go back to work 🤷
