I have a £50 bet with someone that M and the DC won’t come .

Half in half out, commercialised royalty. Looks like it’s happening and Charles is facilitating it. Where are all the posters who said it wouldn’t happen to tell me I am being stupid again? Frankly, I want to be proven wrong.

How is Charles facilitating it? Clearly he hasn't agreed to even a private meeting. If such a meeting does happen I'd be shocked if there are any public photos or statements. He can't stop Harry doing IG stuff or them meeting with the Chelsea Pensioners or whoever else can bear to be around them. There hasn't been a word from Charles or any other senior royal about this 'visit' and I doubt there will be.

The only thing Charles has agreed to is, apparently, the use of some unnamed royal residence and I don't think that's a huge concession, especially if the kids are coming. It's not 'half in half out' at all. Like the Oz tour it will only emphasise how far from their royal life they have fallen.

I totally get you but the optics aren't great. How on earth have they wangled a visit with Chelsea pensioners?? And no disrespect but how is Meg going to merch at that ??

SqueakyDinosaur · 26/06/2026 21:32

Places like the Royal Hospital (Chelsea pensioners) are very knitted into the establishment. If it were to be let known that the Palace really didn't want H&M grandstanding with the residents, I reckon it would be quashed pretty quickly. I reckon we need to watch this space.

Starryfifty · 26/06/2026 21:33

And a photo with KC will be leaked. H&M need the money shot out there

The late Queen refused to allow photographs when H and M took Lilibet to meet her .
KC should do the same.

Let's see if it happens first.

Is it really that hard to get a meeting with the Chelsea Pensioners?

7 years ago this is precisely the sort of thing Meghan would have considered way too 'boring' and 'unglamarous' for a superstar royal like her. No disrespect, but it's hardly a great coup.

I think he will. If he even agrees to meet them at all. Or maybe have a photo taken by his official photographer, which the Sussexes can't get their grabby mitts on.

BasiliskStare · 26/06/2026 21:42

I agree with the Photo ops but actually the one which has annoyed me is the Chelsea Pensioners. I am minded to write a letter to the RHC - anyone any suggestions. They may well welcome the visit for publicity and donations but they've had Camilla and Sophie visiting. I'm sure the chaps (and now women ) would welcome something different , but I don't think it is appropriate for the Pensioners to be a colourful backdrop to H&M. So suggestions on a postcard ( BTW I do contribute for reasons to the RHC)

You just said we are in for a pseudo royal
tour. We know it’s bullshit, but the rest of the world isn’t necessarily as well informed. And “pseudo” is all they need to commercialise and exploit their position as royals for rent, and more importantly, all that third parties happy to exploit their stupidity need.

Yes, Charles is facilitating it. Giving them tax payer funded accommodation while they carry out their commercial self publicity tour is facilitating it. Continuing to have them on the royal website, that links directly to their commercial enterprises, facilitates it. Spin it any way you want. His desire to see his grandchildren has no place in his duties as head of state and head of the institution of the RF, which needs protecting from these two.

But like I said, I will be delighted to be wrong.

This says there won't be any public events then it says there will be 🤷‍♀️

I think that was referring to just the children not attending public events, corblimeygvnr

Call me a wishful thinker but I'm with those who'll believe all this when I see it.
I could easily accept Charles would be stupid enough to rubber stamp it, but am really not sure Meghan would risk bringing the kids into an arena where the RF call the shots ... after all, what if Harry insisted on keeping them in the UK?

I agree they should be taken off the royal website but I doubt anyone gets their information primarily from that outdated clunky mess of a website.

Yes, the faux royal tour is annoying, but they managed that in Australia without any royal accommodation. The fact is that Harry is the King's son and was one of the most high profile royals for years, so it's impossible to entirely separate him from royalty. Like I said, the King can't stop them from doing stupid 'engagements' if people are prepared to put up with their crap.

If he didn't let them use some royal residence, they'd come anyway, as Harry has done several times already.

But let's see if this 'tour' actually materialises.

I agree. Random apartment available if they choose to stay in it, for the sake of being seen to keep them safe with minimal drama.

Whatever charities agree to meet them - not something KC gets a say over, and looks incredibly petty if he does try to stop it.

Their credibility is shot, let them get on with it. The grey rock strategy has worked well so far.

MyGreyLurker · 26/06/2026 21:59

I can't believe they're meeting the Chelsea Pensioners. According to Google, Prince William is their Patron !

Starryfifty · 26/06/2026 22:00

I hadn't realised William's connection with them, and to my mind that makes a visit by H&M even less likely

However we'll see ...

If that “random apartment “ is, as rumoured, in Buckingham Palace - the most recognisable symbol of British royalty internationally - all the international press will say is Harry and Meghan stayed at Buckingham Palace on the invitation of the King.

Buckingham Palace that KC has just announced he isn't moving into, it is basically offices and tourists.

BasiliskStare · 26/06/2026 22:21

OK this is AI overview (from google ) but here "The Royal Hospital Chelsea operates as an independent charity and does not have a single designated royal patron. Instead, it has historically operated under the direct patronage and oversight of the reigning British monarch."

Yes, that was interesting timing.

BP is now the Windsor equivalent of a roundabout.
