I didn’t mean it as that - more that if you are going to read articles like that one in the Daily Mail, you can’t just take it as face value and fail to factor in the selfishness of the Royal press pack when writing and commissioning articles like that.

There’s an agenda around getting William to do more public engagements and to do public engagements over the summer, when there’s little other news, and its not because the public are keen to see him, it’s because they need to justify their jobs existing.

I don't know what article you are talking about.

You know this about DM royal journalists for a fact, do you?

How is the existential crisis of royal journalists William's concern?

YouGov has William's popularity at 74%, second to his wife. Sounds to me like the public are keen to see him. Republic, on the other hand, have a falling popularity and an increasing "dislike" rating according to YouGov. Maybe the fellows in yellow should be planning some summer antics to keep the royal rota in gainful employment? Maybe they should go and shout at the royal wastes of space that are Harry and Meghan? That'll give their numbers a boost.

Starryfifty · 21/06/2026 17:48

The kids photos are always so awkward/ strange. Maybe it's because there faces aren't shown. Well, half of Lily face 🙄 there's no warmth. So contrived

Hopefully Harry won't take that dry, out-of-date old orange personally.

Interesting - apparently posted on LinkedIn a few days ago.

I see that his title is still Executive Director at the Foundation, despite having apparently resigned.

I would expect W and his advisors to treat H with respect on and around the funeral (while controlling his movements and keeping a watchful eye on him).

Anything else would be graceless, would reflect badly on W and the Institution, and would give H a further raft of complaints to flood the tabloids with.

When did he ever need an reason to complain, if there isn't one he'll invent one.

meg's Father's Day grift for H. Is Archie wearing an "England " top ??

Notice it just happens to be a shirt which has England on the back. That was lucky. It’s not a proper football kit either.

They are so transparent. Maybe the front says "England is a racist shithole" 😅

And ‘Republic’ are so hopeless that at this point in time one wonders if they are MI5 plants to put people off the idea.

I think that in democratic terms the UK should be a republic one day but let’s look at some models that work well first, and debate how best to keep the finest British ceremonial traditions and historic calendars, values and ideas, while avoiding the pitfalls. It should be a healthy discussion about the possible future, not an embarrassing bedlam of people booing at children.

This month the UK defense minister resigned in protest at the underfunding of defense and Russia fired live ammunition in the direction of a yacht in the English Channel. Since the war in Ukraine, Russian ships, conveniently flagged under other nations, frequently drag anchors to damage the UK's digital infrastructure cables. Russain submarines are brazenly operating in UK territorial waters and Russian planes have buzzed UK and Irish airspace.

IMHO, without a nation, all other questions are moot.

I doubt that the UK parliament has the luxury of time to conduct the extensive process of changing from a Monarchy to a Republic given the existential threats the UK is facing, and the very real prospect of war if Eastern European Nato allies are attacked by a reckless Russia.

Have William and Harry wished their own father a happy fathers day? Or is it all about selling their own brands via these manufactured posts not actually from their children?

Fathers day should be about honouring your own father not an opportunity for self promotion.

There’s an agenda around getting William to do more public engagements and to do public engagements over the summer, when there’s little other news, and its not because the public are keen to see him, it’s because they need to justify their jobs existing.

The press pack is irritated by William because very little is leaked by Kensington Palace whereas Harry and Meghan brief the press on their every move therefore generating a lot of clicks for the press. I remember reading somewhere back in 2020, that H&M's PR firm, Sunshine Sachs, were being paid to get several pro- Harry and Meghan articles into the press each daytime. I think we can see that this approach as returned again now that they have gone back to Sunshine Sachs.

There is also a difference of approach - I think William wants to move away from the traditional cutting ribbon/unveiling plaques type of royal engagement and do those that involve non-public, long term engagement and even private meetings.

I also think that William doesn't want to be the Disney parent that his own parents were and pack his kids off to boarding school at the age of 8 and only see them during holidays.

I believe that the wales did release a picture honouring Charles and Charles released a picture of him and Phillip with a message to celebrate all fathers present or not .
nothing from Harry at present and obviously nothing for mr markle.
