@IcedPurple comment - "The Sussexes had a pretty sweet deal as royals, and all without the restraints and responsibilities Kate and William have. But it still wasn't good enough for them."

I think this is so apposite . Somehow they got a very very great deal of wealth and privilege whilst having some rules to abide by mixed up with - we can't have everything the members of the WRF (especially W&C ) have whilst doing what the hell we like. I'll say again , Prince Philip said "don't forget they are not here to see you they are here to see the Queen" He is often criticised but here I think he absolutely understood how things worked.

H&M could have carved out a fabulous role for themselves within the WRF (IMHO) Unfortunately Detective Hindsight ( who solves all crimes 😊) has shown , H was too silly to know what he had until it was gone and M understimated the sheer implacability of primogeniture. And she overestimated the longevity of hers and H's bankrollability ( with the skills they had ) once they'd given out their gossip / "their truths / downright untruths etc. It's fair enough that she did not see a life for herself within the confines of the WRF, that's understandable , but it now looks like she really didn't have a well planned strategic exit strategy and H believed she could make all things West coast work for them.

Look they're very rich and both of them get airtime when they want it so I'm not going to feel sorry for them , but as others have said with a bit more brains they could , I suspect , have had more.

ETA - just quickly - I suspect a bit cross posted with @wordler

I think as the decade rolls on we will see Harry looking worse and worse, angry &sullen while Meg will look odder and odder falling into the LA trap of too much *work and having more work done to try and improve the last lot of work that didn’t quite -well, work. *plastic surgery.

Harry knows what it’s like to be a child in the Mountbatten-Windsor family -summer afternoons running round with oodles of cousins/second cousins at Higrove, Gatcombe and Balmoral. BBQs and Picnics, to all be sleeping in a huge house and wake up the next day to do it all again, riding, fishing, shooting -anything outdoorsy you wanted. To have Christmas with 25-35 members of the extended family, opening presents with them, laughter, dressing for dinner, the Boxing Day shoot.
W &C’s kids have this. They have a gang of great grandchildren (of the late Queen) to be with.
Harry’s kids -well, they have nothing &nobody apart from Doria. Imagine that.
They have no one who they are related to apart from H&M and Doria.
All of the lifelong friends, the intimate trusted circle -gone. Dropped .

Harry will get increasingly bitter. He hasn’t got the intelligence or the emotional intelligence to deal with this. He HAS to blame someone & it’s never ever himself.
We can see how bitter and full of bile he is -it’s showing on him. He’s not the relaxed laughing Harry we all knew.
He really doesn’t look like he’s thriving does he? He doesn’t even look like he’s enjoying surviving.
I think he’s a loose cannon.
He’s an empty vessel.
And empty vessels make the most noise.

Agree @wordler.

In a similar way they mistook the cheering and crowds (on their wedding day and on their Australian tour) as being for them as individuals, rather than general good wishes for them as representatives of the monarchy.

(I do think some of the good wishes were for them, as there was an aspect of people having watched Harry grow up and being glad for him, but it was much less personal then they imagined.)

This will sting not just for him but for his son Archie - who we understand actually plays soccer.

It would be a huge opportunity for his child to be involved in a once in a lifetime global sporting event on his home turf.

Football for 7 year old boys is so exciting. But, no, his sullen Dad and miserable flouncing mother have burnt that bridge for their children as well.

As if he would let Archie attend something as normal as a football match. He couldn't possibly mingle with the hoi polloi when literally the whole world is out to get them 🙄

SqueakyDinosaur · 08/06/2026 22:56

It's just so ridiculous that H wangs on about how he and M are breaking the generational cycle of terrible upbringings by their actions. They are actually just imposing a different sort of terrible upbringing. One of the things I really do respect the Waleses for is that they are busting a gut to replicate her, rather than his childhood, as far as possible - a far healthier model.

I think Meghan wasn’t experienced enough or strategic enough to understand the difference between fame and influence.

There’s a certain level of fame/notoriety which does open doors and get you things like better restaurant bookings, freebies, media attention, upgrades, friends with fancy jets and holiday homes.

But it has a ceiling.

What you need to get things done - be a mover at a higher level is influence. And influence comes from respect, reputation and solid connections to others with influence.

Take George Clooney - he’s built his influence through a couple of decades of solid work and networking. He doesn’t have to make another movie again but he’s built his reputation that if he wanted to produce a project he’d be able to easily get it done. He’s got the fame for life too of course but being famous isn’t what opens doors to him in Hollywood and elsewhere.

So, Meghan and her agents who had been pushing a heavy boulder up a hill trying to her press, gigs and invitations to things for years were suddenly basking in her new notoriety and the doors it was opening.

What none of them understood is there was a ceiling for the notoriety and the influence that was getting stuff done was being borrowed from the royal family. It didn’t belong to Meghan and Harry as people, it belonged to the mystique, power and heritage of the institution.

George Clooney has a track record of producing quality entertainment products that make dollars. Clooney has generated box office of $3 billion to $5 billion depending on the source. He earned about $300 million over his career so 6-10% of box office generated went to Clooney and a whole bunch of people made money from going into business with Clooney.

More importantly Clooney is capable of leading a team and working within a a high-powered team. At the time of Ocean's Eleven, Brad Pitt was an equally big star if not the bigger star and rising star Matt Damon was fresh off the success of the Talented Mr. Ripley. By the time of Ocean's Twelve with the Bourne franchise behind him Matt Damon was as much of an A-lister as either Pitt or Clooney.

The Sussexes have a losing track record. Netflix investors lost money. Spotify investors lost money. And H&M were overtly fired by Spotify and covertly fired by Netflix via the "first look" deal.

IMHO, what H&M failed to grasp was that opening the door was the start NOT the end. Once H&M walked through those open doors they, like Clooney or Pitt or Damon or anyone else in the industry, were expected to produce profitable projects. H&M's one-time cash grab was very short sighted as burned entertainment industry investors retain memories an elephant would envy.

Agree but I just don't think he has enough depth/ intelligence to even see the damage he has done. The lifestyle he has now probably suits him. He's lazy and doesn't like to make decisions (don't think he's capable). He is contained in the little bubble of the 4 of them (5 if you count Doria) !

Although we told that Harry believes his father could overrule the government on the issue, sources previously told us it was not a matter for Charles and his courtiers.

I really hope that's not still Harry's briefing, and they're making this one up.

And he hasn’t had it increased by the sound of it.

MyAutumnCrow · 09/06/2026 00:57

So, the Spiteful Little C_ is still trying to blame his lack of free boom boom guns and broom broom cars with wavy flags and sirens on his daddy?

MrsLeonFarrell · 09/06/2026 07:15

Clearly Harry learnt nothing from his court case.

He will never understand that he doesn't warrant the security his ego and paranoia crave.

I certainly think there is an element of that but I also think H is desperate to get back to the Royal fold and is planting stuff .
Hell will freeze over before M sets foot anywhere near the RF .

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 08/06/2026 19:14

No I’m going to say there’s no way even if he’d stayed “in” he would be going to the Men’s World Cup - because football is “William’s”, William is the Official Patron of the English FA (previously was the president), so unless William was going too (and they were having some sort of “brothers trip”) there is no way the Palace would allow Harry to go represent the royal family without having to manage the questions about why William wasn’t going.

Even more so as William didn’t go to the Women’s World Cup when England made the final (a terrible decision).

I do think it’s worth being realistic about what Harry would be doing if he was still a working royal, already all the “best” roles have been taken by more senior royals. The business ambassador type role that Andrew had would not be available to harry now!

You could have used far fewer words to say, "Everything is William's fault and William is lazy." 🙄

She may have told the daft sap she’ll go to the UK en famille but a ‘barrier’ will be conveniently identified at a convenient time to prevent that happening, if previous ‘leakings and plantings of stories’ are anything to go by. Usually H indicates that this involves the nonsensical armed security / IPP-status argument, like Groundhog Day and he throws a hissy.

Maybe one of them can blame and insult the British people again for not making them feel ‘safe’ (in the thoroughly modern sense, obvs - they undoubtedly will be given appropriate security for their level of need. And H could pack in the clumsy political incitements meantime.)

Possibly Catherine will say/ do/ wear something that upsets Meghan so she can’t visit.

Starryfifty · 09/06/2026 09:24

Why is he even doing a "one year to Ingriftus"? If he insists on doing it, why can't he come alone? Would be more beneficial if he addressed the ongoing Ingriftus financial questions

Seriously who makes up this shite? It’s clearly made up rubbish. I can hear Rachel from Friends saying ‘seriously, what?’ To Ross when she she’s about to tell him she’s pregnant.

The trash media do, @Recklessismymiddlename - and often the more mainstream version too, especially as we're now in silly season and they've got to fill their quota somehow
