Ooh brainwave. I vaguely recall seeing a biscuit (American) recipe on the side of a Bisquick mix box. Maybe Duchess is going to pivot her pancake mix to a recipe for traditional moist British English scones. Can help shift some pancake mixes before they expire.

Would they be the 'biscuits' in 'biscuits and gravy'?

hatorgal · 26/05/2026 12:57

None of the American biscuits I have seen look like that slab of crap that Meghan produced. Even that shitty Cracker Barrel Restaurant can produce better 😂

I wondered about that too, thinking that American biscuits were a kind of flattish scone, less sweet than scones as we know them in the UK.
I'm not sure the American gravy is the rich, brown gravy we have in the UK. I've heard about "cream gravy" which is made from chicken dripping made in to a roux with flour and then has milk added to make a chicken-y white sauce.
Tbh, I could easily be talking a load of old flower sprinkles.

American biscuits are fat, light and fluffy when done well.

Don’t forget we have savoury scones here too! , either cheese scones or scones used as a topping on stews.

wordler · 26/05/2026 14:43

The American white gravy that goes with biscuits is a bechemal style say ex made with pan drippings and either crumbled sausage meat or bacon.

Urgh American cuisine is pretty rank

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 26/05/2026 15:01

Well I still have some 'scones' left over - which is unheard of in my house. So they can't be very nice if the teenagers haven't eaten them.

I finally got round to listening to the whole of Prince William's Heart radio interview, rather than just the clips on X. Heart went down to the Scillies in advance and redecorated the nurses' coffee room at the hospital William is supporting/working with. I had no idea Amanda Holden had a DFS range of sofas, but she plugged her range as they put one in the newly decorated room.
Just musing on what successful influencing looks like. She's a hard worker for sure, I was shocked when she returned to work on BGT just 19 days (I checked on google) after a nearly dying in childbirth. I suppose if you let someone else cover for you for a series while you are on maternity leave there's a risk they will keep the replacement and not invite you back. The morning radio gig is not for wimps either with all the early mornings. There's a nice Miss Marple episode 4.50 from Paddington (2004) starring Amanda, she was lovely in it.
I do think Meghan is a hard worker too, though perhaps not work as we know it. Constantly hustling, watching what others are doing, rushing out her version or jumping on the bandwagon, clapping back at unkind press articles etc. It all must be very time-consuming, and across different time zones too, and very exhausting yet somehow her energies all go in the wrong direction and fail to bring lasting rewards.

As for Harry - I wonder if he listened to the interview, since his wife obviously did. William extolled the joys of holidaying on the Scillies and reminisced about happy holidays there when he was a child. I suppose Harry would have been younger and perhaps doesn't remember but he must get pangs of regret and nostalgia when he thinks about his past life surely.

I've said this before but it won't stop me saying it again 😂

Maybe it's some wisdom come of age, maybe because I don't aspire to the life M seems to want , but I think contentment is much underrated. Which is why their freneticism (if that's even a word) seems peculiar to me. They seem to me to have a great deal which would give them a very very nice life if they just calmed down a bit.

Envy is the thief of joy etc. Other platitudes available on request. 😊

All that amounts to is sitting on her phone all day reading the internet! I wouldn’t call that work, let alone hard work!

SqueakyDinosaur · 26/05/2026 15:13

Totally agree, @BasiliskStare. The Waleses certainly have contentment at the core of their family brand, I'd say.

No, indeed.. she's probably busy, but I wouldn't call it hard work.

Frenzy?

Agree with you completely.

JSMill · 26/05/2026 21:04

Envy is the thief of joy. I hadn’t heard that for years but it’s so true and very apt when you look at MM.

jeffgoldblum · 26/05/2026 23:08

I’m thinking…..single white female! …..we know how Meghan is stuck in the 90s! 🤷‍♀️

Not2identifying · 26/05/2026 23:09

I hadn't thought of contentment as a brand but you're right @SqueakyDinosaur. Of course, contentment can't be manufactured, it would have to be authentic and it is.

BemusedAmerican · 27/05/2026 00:17

American scones are horrible. The sweet ones are overly sweet and crumbly. The savory ones are overly salty and crumbly. They arexseved cold in cafes.

However, a traditional southern biscuit is fluffy and amazing when hot and spread with butter. I've only had good ones in the south. NYC has great bagels and the remaining Italian bakeries do wonderful rolls.

Meghan's alleged scone looked like a biscuit that failed to rise spread with Cool Whip, a fake cream product. I've never eaten Cool Whip since it is all chemicals.

I've also never seen clotted cream for sale in the US. I think she used whatever she could find in California.

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally associated with barbeques. Hot dogs. Burgers. Ice cream. Brownies.

Jellybelly80 · 27/05/2026 00:28

Harry and Meghan are the perfect example of how contentment has to be real and not something badly acted out (even if Meghan is supposed to be an actress).

I generally find that those who go through life saying how happy they are and how much in love they are, are usually anything but.

FenellaFeldman · 25/05/2026 06:57

There's nothing KC can do. They will exploit and monetise any social experience for their own benefit. From the very beginning, they were invited to Balmoral every year, and they always refused.
Even the late Queen's last holiday there. They could have gone with the children to say goodbye.
They didn't, because they thought they'd got too important. Their choice.

I didn’t realise this before. So rude. It’s not as if they’d have had to drag all their bags and prams on the trains and buses to visit the Queen at Balmoral. They deserve everything that they have now. Entirely of their own doing.

Exactly. It's all been entirely their choice.

Mylovelygreendress · 27/05/2026 10:31

In 2019 HM invited H , M and A to Balmoral but they said it was too far for A to travel . They then went to Elton’s pad in S France by private jet .

They're hilarious 😂! So stupid in their deceit and hypocrisy! 😂

Excellent post noonames, I so wish some intrepid journalist would be brave enough to put those questions to them, although of course there's no chance that either one of them would ever agree to that!

It’s also the grasping and the grifting - I have something much more important that these two will never have - and that’s ‘enough’….
