To be fair I think I'd rather wear the gold one , personally I'm not a fan of two toned watches but lots of people disagree with me. I reckon L is getting nowhere near Diana's watch in M's lifetime. She will given M's with some guff abut it being a symbol of strong women giving themselves grace and treating themselves well.

I remember in their engagement interview, it was obvious she didn’t like her ring. It actually wasn’t very nice but H’s heart was clearly in the right place in choosing it and she should have just appreciated that.

This article is a very wordy way of saying she didn't like it! I wonder what has happened to the original central diamond?

A Closer Look At Meghan Markle's New Engagement Ring

When Harry and Meghan first announced their engagement back in 2017, the world fell in love their royal love story – and, let's face it, the engagement

Meghan told Hello! Canada about this herself in 2015:

I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank Watch,” she told Hello! magazine in 2015. “When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season - which, at the time, felt like such a milestone - I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version. I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day.

This might explain the relationship with her daughter.

I don't understand how people can plan for a child, let alone a specific sex, that doesn't yet exist.

I work in education and I know some of the things Catherine has said are a bit obvious but I think it’s really important that someone in the public eye is banging on about the links between good quality early years education and outcomes as adults, not just academically but socially and emotionally. Also, I saw a video on Instagram of her visit to a school that devotes time and resources to creativity. We have completely lost that in our school curriculum in England. I work in year one and we rarely do art, let alone have time when children can just explore. Music isn’t even on the timetable. I like seeing someone with a platform highlighting these things.

Completely agree @JSMill As a fellow educationalist I'd say we don't hear anywhere near enough about the massive impact early childhood experiences have on children's wellbeing and future life chances. It should be front and centre of any political social agenda and it's as important now as it's ever been.

I can't imagine changing my engagement ring, I think erasing the past is a worrying trait.

The unveiling of the new ring at the Invictus Games interesting.

BasiliskStare · 13/05/2026 21:28

Her engagement ring is a veritable the Ship of Theseus. Although I suspect even H drew the line at replacing the two smaller diamonds which were Diana's. Actually I don't have a problem with her upgrading the ring. I do think she could leave out the stages of life adapting etc. I'll bet she didn't like the original and she wanted a bigger more expensive one designed to her taste, & the personal development and evolving whatever sounds better.

StrawberryWasp · 13/05/2026 21:42

Her engagement ring was boring and probably a bit disappointing, but I'm old school in that you don't change it because it represents a moment in time and a promise made.
The object carries meaning in itself and can't be replaced.

What she should have done instead is get a new ring for an anniversary present.
That's what I did 😁. I had a new ring for my 5th 19th 25th and 27th anniversaries 🤣

I love rings.

But only one is my engagement ring.

JSMill · 13/05/2026 21:42

@Butteredtoast55Absolutely but I don’t see any signs that any political party cares so I am grateful Catherine does.

Scorchio84 · 13/05/2026 21:43

I don't remember the engagement ring @BigWillyLittleTodger but I do remember a stunning aquamarine ring later would that be right? I'll have a nose at the original engagement ring now..

DaisyDooley · 13/05/2026 21:43

From memory I’m pretty sure that the gold Cartier tank watch was a present to Diana from her father, Earl Spencer -I’m going to tentatively say for her 30th birthday . Her birthday was July 1991 and her father died March 1992 so if my memory isn’t menopausally playing up then it was likely the last major gift from him.

The aquamarine was Diana’s ‘divorce’ gift to herself.
It’s lovely but she only wore it a few times in public. Meghan first wore it on the evening of their wedding,

BigWillyLittleTodger · 13/05/2026 21:46

Meghan is finally happy with her ring.

The aquamarine ring is gorgeous and looked amazing with the white dress on the eve of their wedding.

I wonder why she doesn't wear it more often? I'm not sure I've seen it since,

You’ve summed it up, it was an unremarkable ring, I imagine Meghan was expecting something far more Elizabeth Taylor, instead she was presented with something more H Samuel.

StrawberryWasp · 13/05/2026 21:56

I looked up MM wearing the aquamarine ring. It looks like she occasionally wears it when she wears white.
Which is a good call it looks gorgeous with white on her.

I actually like how she wears her jewellery. The tank with the bangle and the stacked delicate rings.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 13/05/2026 21:58

My favourite ring is Pippa’s.

Thanks @DaisyDooley & that pic is so funny @BigWillyLittleTodger & not too far off the mark in all honesty 😂

That is gorgeous 😍.

I tend to think Pippa wins in every area tbh. Richest husband, most privacy, seems very happy and in love.

In contrast Catherine has a heavy duty to carry for the rest of her life.

And poor old Megs got a dimwit husband with not enough money and a boring ring 🤣

SqueakyDinosaur · 13/05/2026 22:07

I really like Camilla's - pure Art Deco. And I also like that the QM, to whom it previously belonged, would have TOTALLY disapproved of her getting it (not a QM fan).

There is a very bitchy current push in the Mail to cast Pippa as the Spare - her career efforts weren't great and now her petting zoo is closing - but I think her life must look quite desirable to her sister, just from the privacy point of view.

I didn't know she had a petting zoo 😁.

I'm sure she'll manage even with it closing 🤣

I suspect pippa is very glad to be the spare and appreciates the lovely advantages it gives her over the life her sister leads. Unlike Little Prince Waggghhh Where's my Sausage.

StrawberryWasp · 13/05/2026 22:24

If I was super rich thats exactly what I would do: live in the country and have a petting zoo. I'd bloody love that.

That's the dream! Not poncing around on Instagram trying to sell tat.

I’ve never seen that before, it’s beautiful.

BasiliskStare · 13/05/2026 22:24

I was just reflecting on H&M saying they were triggered by the State visit , and their feelings of unfairness that Trump is nasty to them and Daddy didn't clap back. Apparently is is harder for them to process this than they thought 😆 They've obviously let this (from sources) stand. It's astonishingly out of touch and self indulgent. They really are a shower. Can they not get their heads out of their own self pitying arses at all. I think their real PR problem now is that, even if they clap back to everything, they've got a mountain to climb to get any reputation back. And nor are they ignoring stuff and just getting on with the hard work of getting on with things.
