I don’t think this article is evidence of Project Thaw. The people who need to buy in to Harry’s return are not, by and large, going to be readers of The New Statesman. I’d give more credence to a Project Thaw scenario that featured another visit to the UK as Harry did last year, skipping about throwing money at charities and tap dancing around provincial cities, giving it all the old bonhomie. If he wants to get himself back in, that’s how to do it. But without the wife, and for a sustained period of time.

King Charles wanting to be reconciled with his younger son is very different from trying to get him back on board as a working royal. I feel for him as a parent, it must be very difficult to have warring children, whoever is in the right. But I don’t see any evidence of him softening his position towards H and MM as working royals.

Charles just had the perfect opportunity to include H+M when he spoke to Congress and talked about all the connections between the UK / the RF and the USA. It would have been a very natural thing for him to say, “and of course my younger son and his family have made their home here”. And he very pointedly did not. Not to mention the fact that he could have asked for them to be invited to one of the events, or arranged to see them some other way. He did not. There’s no sign of a thaw as far as I can see. I’m sure there’s something odd / nefarious going on in the background of Harry’s ridiculous pontificating, but I don’t think it’s a plan to bring him back.

The people who need to buy in to Harry's return would have been appalled at him putting his name to an article on such a hot political issue - any issue, in fact.

However as you mentioned things change when the pattern's repeated again and again, and there are just SO many examples of Meghan's obsession with the camera to the exclusion of all else

If he had made any such allusion to H& M, the headlines the next day would all be focussed on that, instead of on the scolding-dressed-up-as-a-history-lesson he so masterfully delivered.

I kept a screenshot because I was so surprised/ shocked that anyone in PR could seriously think that H and M would be welcomed back into the RF ! They claimed that W and C would be on the podium with H and M at Invictus Birmingham which is as likely as me running the London Marathon !

To me, the People article epitomises what the articles discussed earlier today mentioned. Everything is turned back by the Sussexes to focus on themselves, rather than turned outwards to others.

You don’t think the Labour Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary read the New Statesman?

Interesting that Spankopita was being clamoured for not too long ago for her insights, but is now of the “without a brain” class.

Just to be clear: I absolutely hope there is nothing to it. I don’t want Harry back in this country again, ever, and I think Charles needs to put his country and office before his family issues, and whatever sentiment he might be feeling towards his youngest son. I think it’s foolish and a bit “brainless” (delightful) to dismiss any of the possible outcomes , since we are all playing a guessing game, and the royals don’t play on a level playing field.

Even if someone in the government did help Harry go to Ukraine, after seeing the way he turned the opportunity into a platform for himself rather than those he was visiting, I doubt it will be repeated.

I still don't see evidence that anyone in the UK government or the palace wants Harry to return. But there is plenty of evidence that the press love him making his little speeches because they are such rich sources for clicks and articles.

I thought the poster referenced had some interesting insights into the world of PR but I don't think she had any special royal knowledge. I miss her posts though.

I think Harry has decided (or is being egged on at home) to start acting as if he is a working royal and see how far he can get.

There was speculation that she might have been Meghan’s PR woman Meredith Maines as there was a certain optimism to her takes and she seemed to stop posting around the time that they parted company 👀😂
