The ongoing dramas from Montecito courtesy of H&M.

I can’t see another thread but I made the same mistake last time …

Ooooo this is a mumsnet AIBU if ever I saw one!!

”AIBU that my friends, who I invited to my wedding, didn’t invite me and DH to their charity event. All our other friends were there”

I think you are right. A properly thought out "megxit" could have been so much better for the pair of them.
The money that originally came pouring in , I think she just thought would become a way of life , without thinking people were paying for , essentially, gossip. Leaving the WRF could have played out so differently if she and H hadn't comprehensively trashed (oft made up) the RF for immediate financial wins.

I agree.

I think they were both blinded by the money offers that they got initially and didn't think about the work and costs involved in actually delivering programmes that people wanted to watch. They don't appear to have managed anything successful since their initial narrative of "being royal was traumatizing" and after their Netflix series, Oprah and Spare etc everyone has heard the complaints and moans so they need to move on - but seem clueless about what to do.

I also don't think that either of them understood the monetary value of what they gave up - houses, staff, office accommodation, cars, clothing allowances and security all provided. Nor did they understand that their status came from being royal so that after the initial interest died down people are not really interested in Harry and Meghan as wannabe influencers, failed TV producers or creators of carefully curated charity appearances.

A bit more sidebar re Invictus-aligned politics from the BBC just now.

  • Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is among cabinet ministers calling for Starmer to set out a timetable for his resignation
  • It's understood there are splits in the cabinet over calls for Starmer's departure and Mahmood is in the minority
Shababa Mahmood is manoeuvring to attempt to keep her job under Burnham/Streeting/Rayner (she won’t); and/or she’s toast now anyway.

And the final scores-on-the-doors in Birmingham (numbers of councillors out of 101 on the City Council):

Liberal Democrats
12

@Lunde "I also don't think that either of them understood the monetary value of what they gave up - houses, staff, office accommodation, cars, clothing allowances and security all provided" - Absolutely spot on. When Meghan said during the actual Royal Tour of Australia "I can't believe we're not being paid for this" - er well - every single part of your luxurious life is paid for by someone else - that's sort of how you are being paid.

I'm convinced now, nothing was going to work for them outside the RF. He's exceptionally stupid. Not just throwing around that comment. He's seriously dumb, incapable and rudderless.

She isn't much better. She hasn't achieved very much at all. Suits was her only role and let's face it, very little required. If she had never have met H. She'd have disappeared into the ether (or only fans)

To be fair to Meghan, she was doing incredibly well to get a part on Suits. There are thousands of young, beautiful would be actresses competing for parts like that.

Meghan is an okay but not amazing actress so she definitely understood the system and strategy to get to there from the briefcase girl job.

She just couldn’t pivot or make the leap from hustling celebrity to royal family representative.

In the Oprah interview she said something like (I’m paraphrasing) it’s not like you imagine / see in the movies.

I also imagine a huge culture shock re UK aristocracy living quarters with ancient battered dog hair covered furniture - not US shiny curated homes.

Bigcat25 · 12/05/2026 00:10

I can't say whether or not she is ND, but I do think they both have disordered personalities and lack basic comprehension skills.

I was wondering about that the other day, actually, when I watched an interview in which Michelle Obama said that the president has to pay his own food bill when living in the White House. She said you could indeed call the kitchen and ask for a peach, but you have to remember you’re going to get a bill for $6 for it. Do you think the royals pay for their own Sainsbury’s delivery or curry takeaway?? And with what money? Do their credit cards say “William Wales” or “Harry Sussex”? When Harry said Meghan had to use her credit card to pay for a sofa for Nott Cott I just assumed that was because if he wanted something he’d have to make a formal request which would have to be reviewed and approved and then an order placed through official suppliers etc, 6 week process, easier to just go out and get one for £499 there and then. But maybe they do actually have to pay for this stuff out of their allowances. I’d be interested to know actually!

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 12/05/2026 06:19

The sofa thing interests me. When I moved into my first flat, I didn’t have any furniture for a while. My family scratched around and gave me some chairs and a coffee table, a few lamps etc. Now, the RF have multiple properties and oodles of very fine furniture - I’m pretty sure someone would have been able to find them a sofa if asked. I wonder if madam would only consider a brand new sofa, rather than one that has already had a myriad historical bottoms on it, thinking brand new would be much better than old, even if ‘old’ was actually extremely valuable and had been reupholstered to her taste. I just think she’s very crass and had no understanding of how the RF live and didn’t do her research. I know very little, really, about the RF, but even I know that living in some of the properties (Balmoral in particular) has been described as ‘like camping, but indoors’ because of the Tupperware, unheated rooms and lack of luxury.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 12/05/2026 06:36

I don't have a problem with them wanting to buy a sofa. I would prefer to choose something new, and the battered dog haired look is not something I would be happy with.

The bit that is astonishing is the fact they thought it was unreasonable that they had to use their own money.

@canklesmctacotits I had no idea the President had to pay for their own food. But I had never thought about it. It would be interesting to know how it works in the RF.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/05/2026 06:40

Catherine has frequently been seen doing her own shopping in Waitrose or Sainsbury’s and she and William have been seen buying items from delis and food markets .

Tiddlywinks63 · 12/05/2026 07:35

BelzPark · 11/05/2026 21:03

Yep - so on that basis her T-shirt slogans should read “Squandered” - that’s basically her core brand essence - the only thing authentic about her is that everything she touches turns to shit.

It’s like the Midas touch in reverse isn’t it?
Quite depressing really that anyone could so comprehensively cock something up, sp publicly yet seem to be utterly oblivious to the reality of their behaviour.

I read that Boris Johnson was surprised to find he received a bill for food he and his family are at Chequers.

I think he wanted to charge it to his MP/PM expenses but wasn’t allowed as he already was claiming for a 2nd home or something. But yeah, quite the tone deaf whinge from a millionaire.

Harry already had plenty of money in the bank when he met Meghan in 2016, and bank cards. He’d have had mess bills to pay in the army for a start. He obviously bought clothes. His financial laziness otherwise as a man in his 30s does not provoke my sympathy.

AtIusvue · 12/05/2026 07:42
  • kids not interacting …again
  • Doria was with them
  • The little boys birthday was really for his sister.
  • At least you can see the public at the park this time…so they saw other humans
HoldMyWine · 12/05/2026 07:43

Ah the clapback to the lack of mother’s day post and the where’s Doris comments. So predictable. Some strange dynamics in those photos especially Archie hiding behind a pole. Is that the best they can get?

OP posts:
AtIusvue · 12/05/2026 07:44

In that top photo, Archie looks scared.
Why would they release that photo? He’s 7 years old! Do you think he would want his mates at school seeing he’s scared of a Disney Princess!!

StrawberryWasp · 12/05/2026 07:47

The Archie hiding photo may be a funny family memory of when he was embarrassed to meet princesses. But you don't release it to the public it's humiliating when you're 7!

Why are they releasing any holiday photos at all?
What's the point?

This is awful. It wouldn’t be so bad if there were pictures of Archie with Jack Sparrow or whatever boys are into these days. In this photo, he’s just an onlooker while his sister is having the time of her life.

These are old photos, I think. I have seen a YouTuber criticising her for wearing the hat with ears when the children are not. I think it was RHRJen, she pointed out that she has a daughter of a similar age and she would have the child wearing the hat, not her as she is an adult. The trip was presumably paid for by the Corp as they appeared as talking heads on a documentary to celebrate an anniversary for Disney.

StrawberryWasp · 12/05/2026 07:51

New As Ever insta montage out as well. Lots of pensive Meghan back in the rental house.

How is this going to get people to buy her runny spread?

Archie was at the front with the storm troopers.
