@noonames - sorry I think I cross posted there but I absolutely agree with you.

Hello 👋 @AtIusvue! , saw this yesterday, clearly mainstream media decided not to pander to Harry this time!

Indeed!

In any case why would the King schlepp cross country? Why wouldn't the Sussexes go and meet him?

If they had any sort of relationship Harry and Meghan would have been invited to the State dinner (like Trump's kids were invited to Windsor). Even if things were cool between them a private meeting in Washington or New York could have been arranged for a couple of hours. This is a sign that the relationship is pretty glacial just now.

noonames · 29/04/2026 19:07

Even DH, who is Welsh and quite anti royal, (especially ones who are or have been Prince of Wales) said Charles when addressing Congress was an impressive advert for the UK model and he felt proud watching him managing Trump so well on behalf of the country and expressing his beliefs. Harry on the other hand is a “deceitful dickhead” and Meghan “cut price Paltrow without the wit”.

JSMill · 29/04/2026 19:11

Soon he’ll be Princess Margaret. I don’t recall PM being massively popular in my lifetime. She was popular when she was young and glamorous but that wore off. However she was definitely respected as being loyal to her dsis and a close confidant. H was popular when young but now he’s an unkempt balding middle aged man who stabbed his db in the back and slagged off his SIL. He would be lucky to have the respect the public had for PM.

Indianrollerbird · 29/04/2026 19:37

In other news, I hadn't realised the Harry visa case continues to rumble on. I've just been watching Niall Gardener of the plaintiff (Heritage Foundation) on Kinsey Schofield. Document release expected from US Immigration around June 12. He appeared quite confident about getting to the bottom of whether Harry lied on his visa application.

I remember her as a glamorous but quite sad figure. She didn’t come across (to me at least) as a working royal living a life of duty like Anne, for instance. Just a bit lost. But rich!

(Although by the time I was a teen she was already pretty ill so I guess I missed her heyday.)

Must have been quite tricky for QE2, having a controversial sibling. I wonder if she shared those experiences with William before she died 🤔

Starryfifty · 29/04/2026 19:51

It's inevitable the kids' photos are on the way. However, it'll be another own goal we surely H can't continue to lecture about privacy, dangers of social media etc. (no doubt he will ) but I'm sure he won't get any speaking gigs on the subject.

He really is hilarious isn't he. Has to clap back to any implied criticism, even if no one is talking about it. Whilst making his selfishness very clear in the fact that it clearly didn't occur to him that he should be the one to travel if anyone was going to.

Season 9 Episode 24 GIF by Friends

Yes, laughable that you'd just assume the King will travel to you and work around your busy surfing schedule.

Charles has done a very good job on this state visit. Said things that badly needed saying but kept things on a respectful level with Trump. Lessons there for family members who think they know it all!

Thanks @BasiliskStare

I watched that episode of Palace Confidential, and was quite glad that there was a clear message coming from the UK government.

I've been bothered before by the support the Sussexes have seemed to receive from the Labour government. I suspect in this instance it was clear where their interest lay.

They made sure to say the trip was “tax-payer funded” too I see. They really never resist the opportunity to take the low road and sling a bit of mud.

Exactly. It's quite humiliating for H that he wasn't invited you these events. Other Brits living in the US were invited Tom Daly even Guy Pelly. For Harry not to be there says a huge amount.

Who else would pay for official government business? Maybe the Sussexwes would like to come clean about who exactly funds all their trips. George Soros? The donors to Invictus?

And Australian tax payers did have to pony up for security for that grift a few weeks ago

That they did. As do we every time he comes over for one of his pointless court cases. Utter hypocrisy as usual.

I thought that too. On the one hand , we can't expect Pa to visit on the tax payers' dollar , on the other hand subtle implication - we do our "tours" / visits paid for privately. Except they don't. Eg Australian police , NYC police.
I thought that came across ( to me) as a quite nasty little aside.

Starryfifty · 29/04/2026 20:33

ladies, can someone explain the George soros and H+m connection?? Is soros very anti monarchy ?

BemusedAmerican · 29/04/2026 20:35

Charles is coming across very well in the US.

Thank you for that. I think he's doing well , but hard to know whether I am just biased .

“A lot is forgiven when you’re on the ground and you show up and do good work.”

What work? What ground? Good for who? Is this about Ukraine and “I’m a member of the royal family and I’m here to work not holiday, ergo I’m a working member of the RF doing the good stuff the RF does butnothisisnthalfinhalfout”? Or is this suggesting that their unpaid appearances in Oz were “work” on the ground, and that “work” was good for…who exactly? And who are they thinking will forgive them for what? The public, for being obnoxious and arrogant? The RF for all the reasons they put in the public domain? Who told them that forgiveness can be won in this way because really I’m not so sure. Sophie Chandauka? Past employees? Meghan’s dad? Their children when they’re older (didn’t work out that way for Harry he tells us)? Such a random, unconnected-to-anything statement to make.

I felt during the Oz visit and again with this that H&M and their team are seeing something nobody else is seeing. As though saying something is so, makes it so (not for the first time does it seem they model themselves on Trump!). When they were in Australia one of their PR people, on day one or two, put out a victorious statement about how H&M are showing that there’s a new way to do things, combining philanthropy and private commercial endeavours. Even when he said it everyone could see that yes, they were indeed making so-called philanthropic and commercial efforts on the same days at different times on the same trip, but there was no indication that the endeavours were successful or that the combination was scalable and ought to be repeated. It was such an odd, out-of-step thing to say, as though they’d planned to say this on that day before the even left California and were following a rehearsed script A couple of weeks on and lo and behold, seems they’ve been resoundingly pasted on both philanthropic and commercial fronts and the statement looks even more ridiculous.

They just don’t get it. They’re not interesting (other than in failure and scandal) people. They have no monetizable value outside the RF. They keep trying again and again, and that’s a credit to them, but surely someone is telling them that the writing is in the wall.

Agree, but think the recent issues with Trump have shown out government the benefits of the RF, and especially the Kings soft diplomacy.

If they had any sort of relationship Harry and Meghan would have been invited to the State dinner (like Trump's kids were invited to Windsor)

This is the most damning post I've ever read. It is mind-blowing the opportunities that they have destroyed.

In short, yes.

Edit: I recommend you read around the work of his Open Society Foundation. He funds every leftist cause du jour you can think of.

StartupRepair · 29/04/2026 21:28

Thanks for the new thread. Agree Charles is doing a good job in a complex setting.

Rhaidimiddim · 29/04/2026 21:29

The central message here has me worried - that British officials had to tell senior American officials that H's position that H's spoutings weren't UK policy.

The implication being that the senior American officials might otherwise have thought differently.
