For all Meg and Harry PR shenanigans

OP posts:

@jeffgoldblum That reads to me that BP have firmly shut down a meeting directly to the Sussexes and Harry had to get in there with his statement.

Agreed 👍, but I was very surprised that it has had no traction anywhere but on Reddit and x!

I’m thinking because they are pretty much commenting on EVERYTHING now (thank you Sunshine Sachs) that it’s getting lost in the noise?

So here we have the latest self congratulatory clapback, and timed for the middle of Charles's visit ... maybe they're not keen to avoid offence in order to secure whatever it is they want after all

And thanks for the new thread, Atlusvue

I love the suggestion that it's KC3 who would be making the cross-country trip. He's 78, he's got cancer, he's got a packed schedule. Why wouldn't it be YOU making the trip, Harry? You're the one who flounced out of the magic circle.

Also, I very much enjoyed this: https://www.politico.eu/article/king-charles-us-congress-speech-hidden-messages/

King Charles: The hidden messages in his speech to Congress

The British monarch delivered a jovial address to Washington’s leaders that was laced with plenty of shade.

Interesting they only ever talk about reconciliation with Harry’s family never meghan’s. 🤔

Indianrollerbird · Today 16:14

The Markles are all the same, and I wouldn't go near them with a bargepole either. They're neither use nor ornament to H&M in any event. The complete lack of acknowledgment of Meghan's relatives through Doria is the one that intrigues me. They don't even speak up to say positive things about Meghan, and vice versa.

Edit ti add, the Markles are no worse than Meghan and Harry in the way they have attacked their family and invaded their privacy. The latter have just done it through more high brow, not to mention lucrative, vehicles.

Starryfifty · Today 16:29

Meghan's dad and half siblings are of no use to her. Whole family seem hideous anyway

I think the embarrassing Balenciaga episode may have put the kibosh on that happening any time soon. Not sure who the new editor is and whether she has sympathy for MM. But I'm sure La Wintour's influence is still strong.

Yeah definitely still strong, she's Global Editorial Director of Vogue and Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast so her influence stretches far & wide 😎

Recklessismymiddlename · Today 16:49

Oh they are definitely hideous @Starryfifty but so many lobs thrown at the RF and still they want to reconcile with them.

I can’t remember but do they still want an apology?

Ohpleeeease · Today 17:09

I don’t often feel sorry for H but he must get his ear bent daily on how he needs to fix everything for his wife. I have said since Day One that he was in for a difficult marriage and I stand by that.

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · Today 17:15

That People clapback in the midst of the Royal visit to the US is just embarrassing. They are a total embarrassment really.

Love that decoding of the King's speech, excellent!

I read Anna Wintour will be at the Gala. We all know how much Meg would love the cover. I can’t see Anna ever letting that happen (even though she’s not editor anymore)

Anna Wintour is from a solidly upper middle class British background.

I suspect she is horrified by Meghan and Harry's antics. That might be mitigated if they were highly successful, but the reality is that they are not.

If we are to believe Harry and Meghan who had to flee the royal family for their lives and who treated them so terribly that they had to go on Oprah, write books, produce a six part “documentary” series and endless whiny interviews ever since, it makes how the Markles have apparently treated Meghan and Harry positively saintly in comparison, yet they want reconciliation with the royals, now why could that be I wonder? It’s a head scratcher for sure.

H&M with their inflated sense of popularity and huge egos thought the Australia tour would outshine the King’s state visit, they were probably expecting the same reaction and public interest as when they visited as the new shiny working members of the RF. No matter how they try to spin it in People Magazine, to quote the X files, the truth is out there, barricades with no one there, 47 people at Meghan’s event and most of them were staff of the hotel, the terrible behaviour of using child cancer patients and the site of a terrorist attack to flog their wares, it was an epic fail and the hugely successful State visit being so close to theirs just highlights how utterly woeful it was, they thought they were being oh so clever and they’ve just ended up looking like a pair of clowns.

Were there really just 47 people?! Christ 😬

Apparently even that’s being generous! the photos back that figure up, allegedly they only sold 7 actual tickets, the rest of the attendees were staff and hotel guests who were there anyway.

Yikes. I think I would have just called a sickie! I must say, I do rather admire that about her - at least she keeps trying where most people would have given up long, long ago.

Although, if she had given up, she'd probably have more fans left. She - they - really are entirely to blame for their own failure. If they'd just sat at home quietly and done nothing, they'd probably still be massively in demand.

BasiliskStare · Today 18:52

@BigWillyLittleTodger Surely if M took the reported $150k there is no way that event could have made money , even with the alternate drop dinner. I'm tempted to say who will book her now , but she seems to hoik these people out of nowhere . However , being the keynote speaker , staying for under 2 hours and not having the draw to fill the place must , in realistic terms , be a PR fail.

noonames · Today 18:56

This is really the problem for Harry - he has no power, no influence, nobody cares what his “thoughts” are about Ukraine, he doesn’t have proper speechwriters like the king does and certainly can’t do it himself, so will always come across badly. He’s like a toddler playing with a Fisher Price let’s-pretend-to-be-a-prince set while his dad goes out to work. And soon he’ll be Princess Margaret.

BasiliskStare · Today 18:57

Thank you @SqueakyDinosaur for that post. Excellent . Even without the crib sheet I could tell he was delivering some pointed messages. But that's what being HoS , having your speeches crafted and re crafted and pored over before delivery , and having the gravitas and authority and well honed skills in dealing with other heads of state to deliver them does for you. Rather than the ill thought out shooting from the hip a la H for example.
