A funny thing has occurred to me: During covid a professional photographer donated time to take photos of some of the staff at my hospital. They were blown up big and plastered along the walls of one of the corridors. I liked them at the time, but now half the people have left and I find the manic laughing expressions tiresome. Not sure if they used a high powered fan but long hair is blowing about and the subjects are laughing hilariously. In short, they look very similar to the pose of Meghan having a marvellous, hilarious time, laughing alongside Ted. On the other hand the picture with Carey M just looks like a normal stand, pose and smile. The picture of them all seated with a few (including Meghan) stood against the wall looks deathly serious, I suppose someone is giving a (not funny) speech. There doesn't seem to be much alcohol (Meghan appears to have a glass of wine and one or two others have a glass in hand), no food and not much fun. Of course all those things may have materialised after the photos and speech. Just Meghan posing in her manic laughter then. She should be on our hospital wall, she would fit right in.

(Some of the subjects had more serious expressions - surgeons and anaesthetists posed with their tools of the trade. Just the nurses and admin staff having a fab time through lock down!)

A longwinded way of saying I've seen that pose before.🤗

I can imagine surgeons laughing manically while waving knives might not be the right image for the hospital 😂

Yes I think the gurning, manic laughing, grabbing style of pose is pretty dated. Very 2020 insta.

I follow a couple of fashion women over 50 who still do this type of thing on insta, but anyone younger is doing much more pared back stylised photos.

I think M thinks it'll look like she's really connecting and being joyful, and instead she looks wired and try hard.

She really is a US version of Amandaland.

Yes, I always assume she's acting. I always assume Harry has spent all day smoking weed and has taken a bit of coke to perk himself up for the evening.

I can't quite believe they have dress codes for parties like this in Hollywood. Beyond maybe some 'evening casual' type guidance.

But maybe most people just understood: it's to promote a show so anyone not connected to the show should probably wear something appropriately smart but not attention grabbing. So they went for dark or neutrals?

Everyone knows leopard is a neutral, right??

It is amazing how often M misjudges a dress code. Ballgown to a local cinema. Nylon jumper to a Kardashian party. She can look great but she often missteps.

YourBreezyPanda · 12/04/2026 18:03

A body is a body, I said let’s see what they look like, if they are anything like the ugly trolls I see on x, well then 😌

You are having a very extreme and disproportionate reaction to a few comments about a dress. I thought you were sensible from your previous postings, but it appears I was wrong.

fantom · 12/04/2026 20:07

I was going to play Devil's Avocado Wink and say that these Hollywood type parties are bound to be full of quiet-luxe neutrals, but I googled some of Gwyneth Paltrow's parties and did not find this to be the case. It is an ODD coincidence that there is so much black+white with a couple of exceptions.
I'm sure the truth will come out in due course.

I think it was more of a private house party than a "Hollywood" do. I think having a prescriptive dress code is a bit wanky, but I'd follow it out of politeness and to not make myself look like I was disrespecting the host.

The ballgown was a skirt and top. If she'd worn a funky Bob Marley T-shirt with the full skirt, she'd have looked pretty cool, I think. The unflattering Kardashian party outfit was a mystery. Considering how she loves wearing glam and oftentimes inappropriate evening wear to day time events, I think she just likes to stand out in a crowd, but she misfires a lot. I'm amazed she doesn't have a stylist giving her some advice.

Just an observation- I assumed rogue leopard was a coat/ jacket - it doesn’t look very fitted 🤔

I was just going to say that. The photo was taken outside and the lady ( and some others ) had coats/ jackets on . If I am correct , the lady had a black dress on underneath.

I thought M looked gorgeous but each to their own.

Did you not see the lumps and bumps and unflattering lines? We all have them and usually wear appropriate underwear. This is a problem Meghan has time and time again with her strapless bras she seems to favour too. It's the first line of dressing - good underwear.

AtIusvue · 12/04/2026 20:33

Telegraph:

‘Most of us, when faced with an invitation to a party from a former boss with whom we have a somewhat fractious relationship, would either skip it entirely or awkwardly exchange a few words of small talk before moving on to friendlier faces.
But most of us are not Meghan Markle. On Saturday night, she and Prince Harry attended a star-studded Montecito shindig thrown by Ted Sarandos, the Netflix co-chief executive, and his wife Nicole Avant, the former US ambassador to the Bahamas.
Despite rumours that Sarandos had partially cut ties with the pair, Meghan looked to the outside world as if she was spending time with her most beloved friends. Pictures show her laughing uproariously with Sarandos and holding hands with and later hugging Avant – and all while stepping back from her usual luxury neutrals in a bold olive green silk dress by Heidi Merrick and high-heeled Jimmy Choo sandals.

The couples were once genuinely close. The Netflix-Sussex relationship could not have had a better start when, in 2020, the Duke and Duchess signed a five-year deal worth $100m (£75m) with the streaming giant via their production company, Archewell. Montecito-based Sarandos was one of the executives driving the “big talent land grab” strategy but aside from the successful 2022 Harry & Meghan documentary, there has been little to see from the exceptionally large pay-out.
Shows such as Archewell-produced Live to Lead and Polo were released to almost no fanfare while a children’s programme called Pearl, which was spearheaded by Meghan, was cancelled before it even hit our screens. Last year, Sarandos chose not to renew their deal but continued to produce With Love, Meghan – the Duchess of Sussex’s much-parodied flower-arranging and baking show. At first, As Ever – Meghan’s jam-producing lifestyle brand that evolved from the series – was also tied to Netflix, but now it is “standing on its own”.
In February this year, Sarandos also reportedly unfollowed As Ever on Instagram, as did his creative chief, Bela Bajaria. Both Sarandos and the Sussexes have been keen to stress that there are no issues in their working relationship – and one way to prove that is by being photographed hugging at a party.

‘Beloved friends’:
The couple is also now said to be helping Netflix develop a scripted drama series set in Florida following the lives of two rival polo-playing families, so perhaps that was the reason for the beatific smiles at Saturday’s event.
Either way, it was unusual to see the Duchess of Sussex in chartreuse – a bold colour given that her fashion palette is usually made up of black, cream, brown or beige.
Meghan would argue that this preference for neutrals was partly born from her time in the British Royal family. In the Harry & Meghan documentary, she said, “Most of the time that I was in the UK, I rarely wore colour … To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty… but then you also shouldn’t be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family... So I was like, ‘Well, what’s a colour that they’ll probably never wear? Camel? Beige? White? I wore a lot of muted tones so I could just blend in. Like, I’m not trying to stand out here.”
Of course, there have been exceptions to this rule – most notably in early 2020, after the couple had announced that they planned to step back from royal duties. Meghan’s array of rainbow-coloured outfits in that period included a bright blue Victoria Beckham dress at the Endeavour Fund Awards, a bold red Safiyaa gown at the Mountbatten Festival and an emerald green Emilia Wickstead cape dress at Commonwealth Day.

At the time, commenters were keen to label this shift to look-at-me primary colours “revenge dressing” – after the time when Princess Diana wore a skin-tight off-the-shoulder gown by Christina Stambolian to the Serpentine Gallery summer party on the same night that Prince Charles admitted to infidelity on television. While the stakes this time around aren’t quite as high – nor the dress quite as eye-catching – one could argue the same for Saturday’s party. Her lucrative partnership with Netflix may have taken a turn, but clearly nobody was going to put Meghan in the corner.
The gathering was also what Netflix described as a “Tastemaker event” in celebration of the release of season two of the streamer’s acclaimed series Beef, this time starring Carey Mulligan. As well as Mulligan, stars at the party included Orlando Bloom, his ex-wife Katy Perry and her new boyfriend Justin Trudeau, the former Canadian prime minister, as well as actors Oscar Isaac and John Corbett.

Nearly all the other guests were in neutrals and Prince Harry wore a simple navy blue suit and white shirt without a tie. The only exception was Mulligan, who also wore a chartreuse dress in a remarkably similar shade to Meghan’s. One unsubstantiated social media thread claimed that the dress code for the party was black and white and that the aim was to allow Mulligan to stand out in olive green – but there is no evidence to prove this is true.
Either way, if Meghan’s intention was to ensure all eyes were on her, she certainly achieved her goal.’

gishgalloping · 12/04/2026 21:25

I find it hard to believe she knew there was a dress code and deliberately wore the same colour as Carey Mulligan to upstage her. She would know people would criticise her for that.

Awful dress though. A colour that makes almost everyone look sick and clingy fabric that creates lumps and bumps even on a woman as slim as Meghan. Add in the manic laughing and grabbing, the obvious PR damage control and it’s all a bit desperate looking.

Justdancevance · 12/04/2026 21:48

I love the colour of her dress and it looks like a hot mess unfortunately.

i remember Nicole Kidman wore a dress in this colour to the Oscar’s many years ago which I loved.

This dress looks cheap and nasty, the puckering seams, the zip, the fit. it doesn’t suit her lovely figure at all.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/04/2026 22:03

I think Meghan looks great in casual wear such as jeans and a white shirt but formal clothes rarely look good . It’s not her fault she hasn’t got a perfect shape but she really needs to have her clothes fitted properly and invest in some decent underwear .

BasiliskStare · 12/04/2026 22:10

May surprise you all to know I wasn't invited , but I'd bet a pound to a pint of oranges the dress code was black and white or at least darkish neutrals. I just can't believe not one other woman wouldn't have turned up in a colourful outfit otherwise.

I agree - and Instasavvy event organisers presumably determinr dress codes based on considerations like making the star stand out.

I agree, it seems unlikely everyone else apart from CM would turn up in black and white unless there was a dress code. My thoughts are- either she dressed completely inappropriately to attract attention (which would be unsurprising), or everyone else chose not to tell her the dress code so she would look ridiculous.... which I could imagine happening, I doubt Hollywood is a centre of love and kindness. And I suspect H + M have not exactly made themselves popular.

It looks like a badly made version of one of Victoria Beckhams ‘nightie dresses’ (which has just announced £68 million debt and the departure of 2nd CEO).

She really doesn’t have a lovely figure though. She’s got stick thin legs, quite flat chested with a thick waist and short torso.

Someone on Reddit posted this article, from 2023 written by none other than Miss G-string.
Apparently Meghan ruffled feathers back in the early days by demanding guest lists and wanting to know what designers the women would be wearing to casual dinner parties.

“Further dinner party faux-pas followed, as Meghan is said to have treated social situations as if it were a Hollywood networking event.
Ahead of a casual dinner being hosted by Jack Mann, a polo-playing friend of Harry’s and an usher at their wedding, a source says Jack was astonished to receive a list of demands in advance.

Meghan wanted to know what designers the women would be wearing, what the seating plan would be, that kind of thing,’ the source said. ‘Jack was so gobsmacked he simply didn’t respond. It was a bizarre request to receive ahead of a relaxed occasion.’
When Jack decided not to respond to the email, another missive was issued.
‘In the second email it seemed Meghan was especially interested to know the names of the wives and girlfriends attending,’ the source added. ‘Again, Jack declined to tell her anything. This wasn’t a networking dinner for movie execs in the Hollywood Hills with George Clooney; it was wine and food with friends.
‘In the end they both turned up, but Meghan seemed miffed – and she left before the dinner.’”

I was also amused by the story of Harry giving a lecture on period poverty at the annual fundraising Carol Service the Van Straubenzee family arrange in memory of their son Henry who was killed in a car crash at age 18years. The charity they have set up in his memory has been quietly doing much good work in Uganda. No doubt Meghan had written his speech. But really - period poverty at a carol service! 🤦‍♀️

That’s interesting @ShamedBySiri , since the court case there is now so much credibility to all of her reports, as we now have it confirmed she hung around with Harry’s buddies and in his circle. I would not have given any credence to that kind of story before, but now we know for sure she is well sourced and in the know, so it is likely to be exactly what happened.

ShamedBySiri · 13/04/2026 08:52

I like that Jack stood his ground and ignored her emails. 😂😂😂
That must have ruffled feathers.
