Thanks for the new thread, @Atlusvue - placemarking, really, for if anything new happens (I don't ski so can't comment on that!! Smile

Also just to mention, @jeffgoldblum, I tried to reply to a message from you to say very genuinely no problem, and for some reason it won't let me. I'll try to work it out, but did want to get the "don't worry" across Flowers

I got it and I thought it was quite funny. Two sausages, dog bowl, dog bowl, Harry the fox, one sausage.

Although I didn’t understand two dog bowls

My AI skills aren't good enough to correct things 😂 I can just ask, but I can see how it is putting many creative people out of a job!

@ShamedBySiri a silver fox would have been better!

I imagine it’ll be a private ski slope. Plenty of those within easy reach of where they live.

Meghan proudly posting videos of her D.C. or Harry doing basic stuff is so cringe to me. I think it’s cringe of any parent tbh - all parents are proud of their children’s achievements but they are very rarely actual achievements. Harry surfing in a training pool on the internet where real surfers post videos of real surfing of real waves; Archie in a beginner class posted to an audience where children younger than him ski and snowboard properly and skilfully… Will we be treated to a video posted by proud Meghan of the back of Lilibet trotting on a horse led by the reins by a riding instructor? I mean, it’s cute but not really much to be proud of when all you have to do is pay money for it to happen Confused It’s the kind of thing nobody outside of parents and maybe grandparents would consider noteworthy.

It’s just occurred to me (how can I have forgotten!) that Archie is a Prince. It’s really, really no achievement for royalty to take a beginner ski class! Middle Eastern princes and princesses, hailing from countries with no snow, end up competent skiers and equestrians because that’s just what is expected of “royalty”: finishing school, brushed hair, manners/etiquette, social skills, a certain level of academic achievement, multi-lingualism. Just all the things BECAUSE there’s no excuse not to. They have every opportunity and these skills are necessary for a future role as a soft-diplomat and potential head of state.

Meghan posting these middle-class (let’s face it) videos of “achievements” either cheapens the royal title or makes you wonder what it means. I mean, why IS Archie, a regular rich kid in California, a prince of the British realm?

Mylovelygreendress · 03/04/2026 17:18

Because it is his birthright according to his parents !

Thedom · 03/04/2026 17:31

Apparently it’s a private members golf and ski estate in Montana,, membership is exclusive and around $500,000 per year. Empty nursery slopes, extremely well groomed, easy peasy for a first timer, not exactly hard core learning in the way my kids started learning (which they started at age 3).

Just in case he decides to be a working royal when he's older...!

Most middle class children are expected to learn to ski too, not just royal kids. Or at least upper middle. I thought that was also the case in America, and that it would be quite unusual in California for a seven year old from a wealthy family to not have had lessons? Like a PP said, most of the adults from these sort of families will have at least one trip themselves every year, and the kids go along and have lessons as soon as they can walk. Which would suggest H likely hasn't been indulging either. Bit odd for a posh outdoorsy British bloke to not have at least one ski holiday a year, does he still indulge in many of his old hobbies?

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 03/04/2026 18:14

Meghan isn’t remotely outdoorsy, beyond wafting around her garden in a white frock, and as she is in charge I’m not surprised that kid is only just learning to ski. Interesting as well that only the boy is featured….is the self proclaimed uber-feminist bringing her daughter up to sit indoors, prettily arranging flowers, one wonders?

There's no way Archie or Lilibet could ever represent or work in the UK's best interests 😂. Not when there's George and Charlotte and Louis and Louise and James to choose from (heck, even Zara's and Peter's children).

Firstly, their parent's won't do anything unless they're paid for it (Harry less than Meghan and mostly out of "necessity" these days, Meghan we all know about) so I can't believe they'll be raising their children to "give their milk away for free" to quote Doria. Secondly, what do they know about the UK? Thirdly, these children are going to have to work for a living, unless they can both live off As Ever for the rest of their lives (lol). Fourthly, how could anyone take an American child, raised in America, speaking with an American accent seriously as a representative of the UK and how will that work when it comes to diplomacy in the fractured trans-atlantic special relationships between the USA and the UK? I can't see any evidence of Harry (the only one of the parents who might know anything about such things) raising his children into the sorts of adults acute to such things 😂

A decision will have to be made at some point as to their formal relationship with the BRF, perhaps when they're 18/legal adults/emancipated.

But they can surely have separate hobbies... what's he doing while she's pissing about with flowers and finding creative new ways to cover the kid's faces? If she doesn't feel she can trust him to go away without her, I would certainly expect any ski resort they were likely to grace with their presence to have spas, restaurants, multiple opportunities for filming the back of people's heads in scenic surroundings etc if she doesn't want to ski.

To be clear, this is not my suggestion, it is Harry's 😂

(And I don't think we need to worry about the kids' earning potential tbh, I suspect they will be able to make a very comfortable living discussing their parents. Which is the closest they'll ever come to working for the royal family...)

EmpressSisi · 03/04/2026 19:21

Oh according to the Robert Hardman extract, Eugenie chose her tiara first! That makes sense about the whole Meghan wanting the emerald tiara and “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” drama.

Can anyone archive it? I haven’t been able to read yet and know if it’s anything good but archive today won’t load for me at the moment.

That's interesting - the bit about them having to check provenance of stones in the light of the modern day world.

This is why the tiara story never made sense to me ... the provenance of the one Meghan supposedly wanted would already have been known to the Queen, so why would they have offered it in the first place when there were plenty of others to choose from?

California has loads of ski resorts, most notably Tahoe where the A-listers and Tech Bros go. Under an hour from Montecito in a private jet. And if for some reason they can't find themselves a private jet, it's about 8 hours drive. Much less than many people drive from England to the Alps.

This does make me think about what hobbies the pair of them have in common. If any.

Harry always gave the impression of being very outdoorsy - all hobbies being stuff where you yomped around a bit and didn't have to think too much. And wasn't there that whole thing about their second date (or something) being going camping in Africa? Hard to imagine Meghan enjoying any kind of camping. I'm sure she looked enchanted with it at the time, but I'm not sure it's ever been repeated. She doesn't seem in any way sporty or outdoorsy. Hard to tell what she actually enjoys doing (as opposed to enjoys being watched doing).

It also follows hot in the heels of news of the letter Prince William sent to Lindsey Vonn after her Olympic skiing crash. She has responded with an offer to go skiing with them in the future and coach the children.

I just don't get why they release clips like the skiing thing at all? Who knows what Archie will be when he grows up...but this clip will probably be shown repeatedly over his lifetime in a similar way to the photos and clips of Harry when he was young. I would respect them so much more if they just gave the kids their privacy and stopped 'teasing' the public with them. Just show a video of Harry skiing if you must.

Mylovelygreendress · 04/04/2026 09:18

Frankly , the skiers could be anybody! Who was filming ?

Oh sorry! But it is weird they don't go to Tahoe, with all their A-list pals. You'd think that would be somewhere they'd very much want to go, and they'd very very much want to be seen going... Maybe you're not far off - maybe H doesn't actually know how many ski resorts are in easy reach as nobody's invited him - they told him all there is in California is surfing and he has to fly to the other side of the country if he wants snow 😂
